32AND THEY KEPT <OBJ.> [THE] DUTY OF [THE] TENT OF MEETING AND <OBJ.> [THE] DUTY OF THE HOLY PLACE AND [THE] DUTY OF [THE] DESCENDANTS OF AARON RELATIVES THEIR FOR [THE] SERVICE OF [THE] HOUSE OF YAHWEH 32So the Levites were to carry out the responsibilities for the Tent of Meeting and the Holy Place, and, under their brothers the descendants of Aaron, the service of the house of the LORD.
1AND TO [THE] DESCENDANTS OF AARON DIVISIONS THEIR [THE] SONS OF AARON NADAB AND ABIHU ELEAZAR AND ITHAMAR Twenty-Four Divisions of Priests 1These were the divisions of the descendants of Aaron. The sons of Aaron were Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
2AND HE DIED NADAB AND ABIHU <TO> BEFORE FATHER THEIR AND SONS NOT THEY BELONGED TO THEM AND THEY SERVED AS PRIESTS ELEAZAR AND ITHAMAR 2But Nadab and Abihu died before their father did, and they had no sons; so Eleazar and Ithamar served as priests.
3AND HE DIVIDED THEM DAVID AND ZADOK ONE OF [THE] DESCENDANTS OF ELEAZAR AND AHIMELECH ONE OF [THE] DESCENDANTS OF ITHAMAR TO GROUP THEIR BY SERVICE THEIR 3With the help of Eleazar’s descendant Zadok and Ithamar’s descendant Ahimelech, David divided them according to the offices of their service.
4AND THEY WERE FOUND [THE] DESCENDANTS OF ELEAZAR MANY TO [THE] CHIEFS OF THE MEN MORE THAN [THE] DESCENDANTS OF ITHAMAR AND THEY DIVIDED THEM [BELONGED] TO [THE] DESCENDANTS OF ELEAZAR HEADS OF A HOUSE OF ANCESTORS SIX- TEEN AND [BELONGED] TO [THE] DESCENDANTS OF ITHAMAR OF [THE] HOUSE OF ANCESTORS THEIR EIGHT 4Since more leaders were found among Eleazar’s descendants than those of Ithamar, they were divided accordingly. There were sixteen heads of families from the descendants of Eleazar and eight from the descendants of Ithamar.
5AND THEY DIVIDED THEM BY LOTS THESE WITH THESE FOR THEY WERE OFFICIALS OF HOLINESS AND [THE] OFFICIALS OF <THE> GOD FROM [THE] DESCENDANTS OF ELEAZAR AND AMONG [THE] DESCENDANTS OF ITHAMAR 5Thus they were divided by lot, for there were officers of the sanctuary and officers of God among both Eleazar’s and Ithamar’s descendants.
6AND HE RECORDED THEM SHEMAIAH [THE] SON OF NETHANEL THE SCRIBE ONE OF THE LEVITE[S] <TO> BEFORE THE KING AND THE OFFICIALS AND ZADOK THE PRIEST AND AHIMELECH [THE] SON OF ABIATHAR AND [THE] HEADS OF THE FATHERS OF THE PRIESTS AND OF THE LEVITES A HOUSE OF A FATHER ONE DRAWN FOR ELEAZAR AND DRAWN DRAWN FOR ITHAMAR 6The scribe, Shemaiah son of Nethanel, a Levite, recorded their names in the presence of the king and of the officers: Zadok the priest, Ahimelech son of Abiathar, and the heads of families of the priests and the Levites— one family being taken from Eleazar, and then one from Ithamar.
7AND IT WENT OUT THE LOT <THE> FIRST TO JEHOIARIB TO JEDAIAH THE SECOND 7The first lot fell to Jehoiarib, the second to Jedaiah,

16TO PETHAHIAH NINE- TEEN TO JEHEZKEL THE TWENTY 16the nineteenth to Pethahiah, the twentieth to Jehezkel,
17TO JAKIN ONE AND TWENTY TO GAMUL TWO AND TWENTY 17the twenty-first to Jachin, the twenty-second to Gamul,
18TO DELAIAH THREE AND TWENTY TO MAAZIAH FOUR AND TWENTY 18the twenty-third to Delaiah, and the twenty-fourth to Maaziah.
19THESE [WERE] GROUP[S] THEIR FOR SERVICE THEIR TO GO TO [THE] HOUSE OF YAHWEH ACCORDING TO ORDINANCE THEIR BY [THE] HAND OF AARON ANCESTOR THEIR JUST AS HE HAD COMMANDED HIM YAHWEH [THE] GOD OF ISRAEL 19This was their appointed order for service when they entered the house of the LORD, according to the regulations prescribed for them by their forefather Aaron, as the LORD, the God of Israel, had commanded him.
