24AND SHE SAID THE WOMAN TO ELIJAH NOW THIS I KNOW THAT [ARE] A MAN OF GOD YOU AND [THE] WORD OF YAHWEH IN MOUTH YOUR [IS] TRUTH 24Then the woman said to Elijah, “Now I know that you are a man of God and that the word of the LORD from your mouth is truth.”
1AND IT WAS DAYS MANY AND [THE] WORD OF YAHWEH IT CAME TO ELIJAH IN THE YEAR <THE> THIRD <TO> SAYING GO PRESENT YOURSELF TO AHAB SO LET ME GIVE RAIN ON [THE] SURFACE OF THE GROUND Elijah’s Message to Ahab 1After a long time, in the third year of the drought,*NoteCloseLiterally And the days were many, and in the third year, the word of the LORD came to Elijah: “Go and present yourself to Ahab, and I will send rain upon the face of the earth.”
2AND HE WENT ELIJAH TO PRESENT HIMSELF TO AHAB AND THE FAMINE [WAS] SEVERE IN SAMARIA 2So Elijah went to present himself to Ahab. The famine was severe in Samaria,

4AND IT WAS WHEN CUT OFF JEZEBEL <OBJ.> [THE] PROPHETS OF YAHWEH AND HE TOOK OBADIAH ONE HUNDRED PROPHETS AND HE HID THEM FIFTY MAN IN THE CAVE AND HE SUPPLIED THEM FOOD AND WATER 4for when Jezebel had slaughtered the prophets of the LORD, Obadiah had taken a hundred prophets and hidden them, fifty men per cave, providing them with food and water.)
5AND HE SAID AHAB TO OBADIAH GO IN THE LAND TO ALL [THE] SPRINGS OF <THE> WATER AND TO ALL THE WADIS PERHAPS WE WILL FIND GRASS SO WE MAY PRESERVE ALIVE HORSE AND MULE AND NOT WE WILL CUT OFF ANY OF THE LIVESTOCK 5Then Ahab said to Obadiah, “Go throughout the land to every spring and every valley. Perhaps we will find grass to keep the horses and mules alive so that we will not have to destroy any livestock.”
6AND THEY DIVIDED TO THEMSELVES <OBJ.> THE LAND TO PASS IN IT AHAB HE WENT IN A DIRECTION ONE TO ONLY HIM AND OBADIAH HE WENT IN A DIRECTION ONE TO ONLY HIM 6So they divided the land to explore Ahab went one way by himself, and Obadiah went the other way by himself.
7AND HE WAS OBADIAH ON THE WAY AND THERE! ELIJAH TO MEET HIM AND HE RECOGNIZED HIM AND HE FELL ON FACE HIS AND HE SAID ¿ YOU [IS] THIS O LORD MY ELIJAH 7Now as Obadiah went on his way, Elijah suddenly met him. When Obadiah recognized him, he fell facedown and said, “Is it you, my lord Elijah?”
8AND HE SAID TO HIM [IT IS] I GO SAY TO MASTER<S> YOUR HERE! ELIJAH 8“It is I,” he answered. “Go tell your master, ‘Elijah is here!’”
9AND HE SAID WHAT? HAVE I SINNED THAT YOU [ARE] GIVING <OBJ.> SERVANT YOUR IN [THE] HAND OF AHAB TO PUT TO DEATH ME 9But Obadiah replied, “How have I sinned, that you are handing your servant over to Ahab to put me to death?
10[BY] [THE] LIFE OF YAHWEH GOD YOUR IF THERE [IS] A NATION AND A KINGDOM WHERE NOT HE HAS SENT MASTER MY THERE TO SEEK YOU AND THEY SAID NOT AND HE MADE SWEAR <OBJ.> THE KINGDOM AND <OBJ.> THE NATION THAT NOT IT HAS FOUND YOU 10As surely as the LORD your God lives, there is no nation or kingdom where my lord has not sent someone to search for you. When they said, ‘He is not here,’ he made that kingdom or nation swear that they had not found you.
11AND NOW YOU [ARE] SAYING GO SAY TO MASTER<S> YOUR HERE! ELIJAH 11And now you say, ‘Go tell your master that Elijah is here!’
12AND IT WILL BE I I WILL GO FROM WITH <THE> YOU AND [THE] SPIRIT OF YAHWEH IT WILL CARRY AWAY YOU TO WHERE NOT I KNOW AND I WILL GO TO TELL TO AHAB AND NOT HE WILL FIND YOU AND HE WILL KILL ME AND SERVANT YOUR [IS] FEARING <OBJ.> YAHWEH SINCE YOUTH<S> MY 12I do not know where the Spirit of the LORD may carry you off when I leave you. Then when I go and tell Ahab and he does not find you, he will kill me. But I, your servant, have feared the LORD from my youth.
13¿ NOT HAS IT BEEN TOLD TO LORD MY <OBJ.> [THAT] WHICH I DID WHEN KILLED JEZEBEL <OBJ.> [THE] PROPHETS OF YAHWEH AND I HID OF [THE] PROPHETS OF YAHWEH ONE HUNDRED MAN FIFTY FIFTY MAN IN THE CAVE AND I SUPPLIED THEM FOOD AND WATER 13Was it not reported to my lord what I did when Jezebel slaughtered the prophets of the LORD? I hid a hundred prophets of the LORD, fifty men per cave, and I provided them with food and water.
14AND NOW YOU [ARE] SAYING GO SAY TO MASTER<S> YOUR HERE! ELIJAH AND HE WILL KILL ME 14And now you say, ‘Go tell your lord that Elijah is here!’ He will kill me!”
15AND HE SAID ELIJAH [BY] [THE] LIFE OF YAHWEH OF HOSTS WHOM I STAND <TO> BEFORE HIM FOR THIS DAY I WILL PRESENT MYSELF TO HIM 15Then Elijah said, “As surely as the LORD of Hosts lives, before whom I stand, I will present myself to Ahab today.”
16AND HE WENT OBADIAH TO MEET AHAB AND HE TOLD TO HIM AND HE WENT AHAB TO MEET ELIJAH Elijah on Mount Carmel 16So Obadiah went to inform Ahab, who went to meet Elijah.

18AND HE SAID NOT I HAVE TROUBLED <OBJ.> ISRAEL THAT EXCEPT YOU AND [THE] HOUSEHOLD OF FATHER YOUR BECAUSE HAVE FORSAKEN YOU <OBJ.> [THE] COMMANDMENTS OF YAHWEH AND YOU HAVE WALKED AFTER THE BAALS 18“I have not troubled Israel,” Elijah replied, “but you and your father’s house have, for you have forsaken the commandments of the LORD and have followed the Baals.
19AND NOW SEND GATHER TO ME <OBJ.> ALL ISRAEL TO [THE] MOUNTAIN OF <THE> CARMEL AND <OBJ.> [THE] PROPHETS OF <THE> BAAL FOUR HUNDRED<S> AND FIFTY AND [THE] PROPHETS OF <THE> ASHERAH FOUR HUNDRED<S> [WHO] EAT OF [THE] TABLE OF JEZEBEL 19Now summon all Israel to meet me on Mount Carmel, along with the four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal and the four hundred prophets of Asherah who eat at Jezebel’s table.”
20AND HE SENT AHAB AMONG ALL [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL AND HE GATHERED <OBJ.> THE PROPHETS TO [THE] MOUNTAIN OF <THE> CARMEL 20So Ahab summoned all the Israelites and assembled the prophets on Mount Carmel.
21AND HE DREW NEAR ELIJAH TO ALL THE PEOPLE AND HE SAID UNTIL WHEN? [WILL] YOU [BE] LIMPING ON [THE] TWO THE CRUTCHES IF YAHWEH [IS] <THE> GOD WALK AFTER HIM AND IF <THE> BAAL WALK AFTER HIM AND NOT THEY ANSWERED THE PEOPLE <OBJ.> HIM A WORD 21Then Elijah approached all the people and said, “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow Him. But if Baal is God, follow him.” But the people did not answer a word.
22AND HE SAID ELIJAH TO THE PEOPLE I I AM LEFT A PROPHET OF YAHWEH TO ALONE ME AND [THE] PROPHETS OF <THE> BAAL [ARE] FOUR HUNDRED<S> AND FIFTY MAN 22Then Elijah said to the people, “I am the only remaining prophet of the LORD, but Baal has four hundred and fifty prophets.
23AND LET PEOPLE GIVE TO US TWO YOUNG BULLS AND LET THEM CHOOSE FOR THEMSELVES THE YOUNG BULL <THE> ONE AND LET THEM CUT IN PIECES IT AND THEY MAY PUT ON THE WOOD<S> AND FIRE NOT THEY WILL SET AND I I WILL PREPARE <OBJ.> THE YOUNG BULL <THE> ONE AND I WILL PUT ON THE WOOD<S> AND FIRE NOT I WILL SET 23Get two bulls for us. Let the prophets of Baal choose one bull for themselves, cut it into pieces, and place it on the wood but not light the fire. And I will prepare the other bull and place it on the wood but not light the fire.
24AND YOU WILL CALL ON [THE] NAME OF GOD YOUR AND I I WILL CALL ON [THE] NAME OF YAHWEH AND HE WILL BE THE GOD WHO HE WILL ANSWER BY <THE> FIRE HE <THE> GOD AND IT ANSWERED ALL THE PEOPLE AND THEY SAID [IS] GOOD THE WORD 24Then you may call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the LORD. The God who answers by fire, He is God.” And all the people answered, “What you say is good.”
25AND HE SAID ELIJAH TO [THE] PROPHETS OF <THE> BAAL CHOOSE FOR YOURSELVES THE YOUNG BULL <THE> ONE AND PREPARE [IT] FIRST FOR YOU [ARE] THE MANY AND CALL ON [THE] NAME OF GOD YOUR AND FIRE NOT YOU WILL SET 25Then Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, “Since you are so numerous, choose for yourselves one bull and prepare it first. Then call on the name of your god, but do not light the fire.”
26AND THEY TOOK <OBJ.> THE YOUNG BULL WHICH SOMEONE GAVE TO THEM AND THEY PREPARED [IT] AND THEY CALLED ON [THE] NAME OF <THE> BAAL FROM THE MORNING AND UNTIL THE NOONTIDE<S> <TO> SAYING O BAAL ANSWER US AND THERE NOT [WAS] A SOUND AND THERE NOT [WAS ONE WHO] ANSWERED AND THEY LIMPED AROUND AT THE ALTAR WHICH HE HAD MADE 26And they took the bull that was given them, prepared it, and called on the name of Baal from morning until noon, shouting, “O Baal, answer us!” But there was no sound, and no one answered as they leaped around the altar they had made.
27AND IT WAS AT THE NOONTIDE<S> AND HE MOCKED <IN> THEM ELIJAH AND HE SAID CALL OUT WITH A VOICE GREAT FOR [IS] A GOD HE FOR MUSING AND FOR A GOING AWAY [BELONGS] TO HIM AND FOR A JOURNEY [BELONGS] TO HIM PERHAPS [IS] SLEEPING HE SO HE MAY AWAKE 27At noon Elijah began to taunt them, saying, “Shout louder, for he is a god!
