11 THEY WERE GIVING HEED NOW TO HIM BECAUSE THE LONG TIME WITH THE MAGIC ARTS TO HAVE AMAZED THEM;
11 They paid close attention to him because he had astounded them for a long time with his sorcery.
12 WHEN HOWEVER THEY BELIEVED <THE> PHILIP EVANGELISING <THE> CONCERNING THE KINGDOM <THE> OF GOD AND THE NAME <THE> OF JESUS CHRIST, THEY WERE BAPTIZED MEN BOTH AND WOMEN.
12 But when they believed Philip as he preached the gospel of the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
13 <THE> AND SIMON ALSO HIMSELF BELIEVED, AND HAVING BEEN BAPTIZED HE WAS STEADFASTLY CONTINUING <THE> WITH PHILIP, BEHOLDING THEN [THE] SIGNS AND MIRACLES GREAT BEING PERFORMED HE WAS AMAZED.
13 Even Simon himself believed and was baptized. He followed Philip closely and was astounded by the great signs and miracles he observed.
14 HAVING HEARD NOW THE IN JERUSALEM APOSTLES THAT HAS RECEIVED <THE> SAMARIA THE WORD <THE> OF GOD, THEY SENT TO THEM <THE> PETER AND JOHN;
14 When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them.
15 WHO HAVING COME DOWN THEY PRAYED FOR THEM THAT THEY MAY RECEIVE [THE] SPIRIT HOLY.
15 On their arrival, they prayed for them to receive the Holy Spirit.
16 NOT YET FOR HE WAS UPON NONE OF THEM HAVING FALLEN, ONLY HOWEVER BAPTIZED THEY WERE BEING INTO THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS.
16 For the Holy Spirit had not yet fallen upon any of them; they had simply been baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus.
17 THEN THEY WERE LAYING THE HANDS UPON THEM AND THEY WERE RECEIVING [THE] SPIRIT HOLY.
17 Then Peter and John laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.
18 HAVING SEEN NOW <THE> OF SIMON THAT THROUGH THE LAYING ON OF THE HANDS OF THE APOSTLES WAS GIVEN THE SPIRIT <THE> HOLY HE OFFERED TO THEM MONEY
18 When Simon saw that the Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money.
19 SAYING; DO GIVE ALSO TO ME <THE> AUTHORITY THIS, THAT ON WHOM WHEN I SHALL LAY THE HANDS HE MAY RECEIVE [THE] SPIRIT HOLY.
19 “Give me this power as well, ” he said, “so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit. ”
20 PETER HOWEVER SAID TO HIM; THE SILVER OF YOU WITH YOU WOULD [THAT] IT BE TO DESTRUCTION, BECAUSE THE GIFT <THE> OF GOD YOU THOUGHT THROUGH MONEY TO BE OBTAINED!
20 But Peter replied “May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money!
21 NO THERE IS TO YOU PART NOR LOT IN <THE> MATTER THIS; THE FOR HEART OF YOU NOT IS RIGHT BEFORE <THE> GOD.
21 You have no part or share in our ministry, because your heart is not right before God.
22 DO REPENT THEREFORE OF THE WICKEDNESS OF YOURS THIS AND DO PRAY EARNESTLY TO THE LORD, IF INDEED WILL BE FORGIVEN YOU THE INTENT OF THE HEART OF YOU.
22 Repent, therefore, of your wickedness, and pray to the Lord. Perhaps He will forgive you for the intent of your heart.
23 IN FOR [THE] GALL OF BITTERNESS AND [THE] BOND OF INIQUITY I SEE YOU BEING.
23 For I see that you are poisoned by bitterness and captive to iniquity. ”
24 ANSWERING NOW <THE> SIMON SAID; DO PRAY EARNESTLY YOU YOURSELVES ON BEHALF OF ME TO THE LORD, SO THAT NOTHING MAY COME UPON ME MYSELF OF WHICH YOU HAVE SPOKEN.
24 Then Simon answered Pray to the Lord for me, so that nothing you have said may happen to me. ”
25 THEY INDEED THEREFORE HAVING EARNESTLY TESTIFIED AND HAVING SPOKEN THE WORD OF THE LORD WERE TRAVELLING BACK TO JERUSALEM, TO MANY THEN VILLAGES OF THE SAMARITANS THEY WERE EVANGELISING.
25 And after Peter and John had testified and spoken the word of the Lord, they returned to Jerusalem, preaching the gospel in many of the Samaritan villages.
26 AN ANGEL NOW OF [THE] LORD SPOKE TO PHILIP SAYING; DO RISE UP AND DO GO TOWARD [THE] SOUTH TO THE ROAD WHICH IS GOING DOWN FROM JERUSALEM TO GAZA; THIS IS [THE] DESERT [ROAD].
Philip and the Ethiopian
(Isaiah 53:1–8 )
26 Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip “Get up and go south to the desert road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza. ”
27 AND HAVING RISEN UP HE WENT; AND BEHOLD A MAN AN ETHIOPIAN A EUNUCH A POTENTATE OF CANDACE THE QUEEN OF ETHIOPIANS, WHO WAS OVER ALL THE TREASURE OF HER, WHO HAD COME TO THEN WORSHIP TO JERUSALEM,
27 So he started out, and on his way he met an Ethiopian eunuch, a court official in charge of the entire treasury of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians. He had gone to Jerusalem to worship,
28 HE WAS THEN RETURNING AND SITTING IN THE CHARIOT OF HIM AND HE WAS READING THE PROPHET ISAIAH.
28 and on his return was sitting in his chariot reading Isaiah the prophet.
29 SAID THEN THE SPIRIT <THE> TO PHILIP; DO GO NEAR AND DO BE JOINED TO THE CHARIOT THIS [ONE].
29 The Spirit said to Philip, “Go over to that chariot and stay by it. ”
30 HAVING RUN UP THEN <THE> PHILIP HEARD WHEN HE IS READING ISAIAH THE PROPHET AND SAID; SURELY NOT ALSO UNDERSTAND YOU WHAT YOU ARE READING?
30 So Philip ran up and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. “Do you understand what you are reading? ” Philip asked.
31 <THE> AND HE SAID; HOW FOR MAYBE WOULD I BE ABLE ONLY UNLESS SOMEONE WILL GUIDE ME? HE INVITED THEN <THE> PHILIP HAVING COME UP TO SIT WITH HIM.
31 “How can I, ” he said, “unless someone guides me? ” And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.
32 <THE> NOW THE PASSAGE OF THE SCRIPTURE WHICH HE WAS READING WAS THIS: AS A SHEEP TO SLAUGHTER HE WAS LED, AND AS A LAMB BEFORE THE [ONE WHO] SHEARING HIM [IS] SILENT, SO NOT HE OPENS THE MOUTH OF HIM.
32 The eunuch was reading this passage of Scripture:
“He was led like a sheep to the slaughter,
and as a lamb before the shearer is silent,
so He did not open His mouth.
33 IN THE HUMILIATION OF HIM <THE> JUSTICE FROM HIM WAS TAKEN AWAY, THE NOW GENERATION OF HIM WHO WILL DESCRIBE? FOR IS REMOVED FROM THE EARTH THE LIFE OF HIM.
33 In His humiliation He was deprived of justice.
Who can recount His descendants?
For His life was removed from the earth.”
34 ANSWERING NOW THE EUNUCH <THE> TO PHILIP SAID; I PRAY YOU, CONCERNING WHOM THE PROPHET SAYS THIS? CONCERNING HIMSELF, OR CONCERNING OTHER SOME?
34 “Tell me, ” said the eunuch, “who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else? ”
35 HAVING OPENED THEN <THE> PHILIP THE MOUTH OF HIM AND HAVING BEGUN FROM <THE> SCRIPTURE THIS HE EVANGELISED TO HIM [ABOUT] <THE> JESUS.
35 Then Philip began with this very Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus.
36 AS THEN THEY WERE GOING ALONG THE ROAD, THEY CAME UPON SOME WATER AND SAYS THE EUNUCH; BEHOLD WATER; WHAT PREVENTS ME TO BE BAPTIZED?
36 As they traveled along the road and came to some water, the eunuch said, “Look, here is water! What is there to prevent me from being baptized?”
37 SAID NOW <THE> PHILIP: IF BELIEVE YOU FROM ALL THE HEART IT IS LAWFUL. ANSWERING NOW SAID: I BELIEVE THE SON <THE> OF GOD TO BE <THE> JESUS CHRIST.
38 AND HE COMMANDED TO STOP THE CHARIOT, AND THEY WENT DOWN BOTH TO THE WATER, <THE> BOTH PHILIP AND THE EUNUCH, AND HE BAPTIZED HIM.
38 And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and Philip baptized him.
39 WHEN NOW THEY CAME UP OUT OF THE WATER, [THE] SPIRIT OF [THE] LORD CARRIED AWAY <THE> PHILIP, AND NOT SAW HIM NO LONGER THE EUNUCH; HE WAS GOING FOR THE WAY OF HIM REJOICING.
39 When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord carried Philip away, and the eunuch saw him no more, but went on his way rejoicing.
40 PHILIP HOWEVER WAS FOUND AT AZOTUS, AND PASSING THROUGH HE WAS EVANGELISING TO THE TOWNS ALL UNTIL <THE> COMING OF HIM TO CAESAREA.
40 But Philip appeared at Azotus and traveled through that region, preaching the gospel in all the towns until he came to Caesarea.
