24AND HE SAID TO ME THESE [ARE] [THE] HOUSE OF THOSE [WHO] BOIL WHERE THEY WILL BOIL THERE [THOSE WHO] SERVE <OF> THE HOUSE <OBJ.> [THE] SACRIFICE OF THE PEOPLE 24And he said to me, “These are the kitchens where those who minister at the temple will cook the sacrifices offered by the people.”
1AND HE BROUGHT BACK ME TO [THE] ENTRANCE OF THE HOUSE AND THERE! WATERS [WERE] GOING OUT FROM UNDER [THE] THRESHOLD OF THE HOUSE EAST -WARD FOR [THE] FACE OF THE HOUSE [WAS] EAST AND THE WATERS [WERE] GOING DOWN FROM UNDER FROM [THE] SIDE OF THE HOUSE <THE> SOUTH FROM [THE] SOUTH OF THE ALTAR Waters from under the Temple 1Then the man brought me back to the entrance of the temple, and I saw water flowing from under the threshold of the temple toward the east (for the temple faced east). The water was coming down from under the south side of the temple, south of the altar.
2AND HE BROUGHT OUT ME [THE] WAY OF [THE] GATE NORTH -WARD AND HE BROUGHT ROUND ME [THE] WAY OF [THE] OUTSIDE TO [THE] GATE OF THE OUTSIDE [THE] WAY WHICH FACES EAST AND THERE! WATERS [WERE] TRICKLING FROM THE SIDE <THE> SOUTH 2Next he brought me out through the north gate and led me around the outside to the outer gate facing east, and there I saw the water trickling out from the south side.
3WHEN WENT OUT THE MAN EAST AND A MEASURING-LINE [WAS] IN HAND HIS AND HE MEASURED OUT A THOUSAND BY THE CUBIT AND HE MADE PASS ME IN THE WATERS WATERS OF ANKLES 3As the man went eastward with a measuring line in his hand, he measured off a thousand cubits*NoteClose1,000 (long) cubits is approximately 1,750 feet or 533.4 meters. and led me through ankle-deep water.
4AND HE MEASURED OUT A THOUSAND [CUBITS] AND HE MADE PASS ME IN THE WATERS WATERS KNEES AND HE MEASURED OUT A THOUSAND [CUBITS] AND HE MADE PASS THROUGH ME WATERS OF LOINS 4Then he measured off a thousand cubits and led me through knee-deep water. Again he measured a thousand cubits and led me through waist-deep water.
5AND HE MEASURED OUT A THOUSAND [CUBITS] A RIVER WHICH NOT I WAS ABLE TO PASS THROUGH FOR THEY HAD RISEN THE WATERS WATERS OF SWIMMING A RIVER WHICH NOT IT WAS PASSED THROUGH 5Once again he measured off a thousand cubits, but now it was a river that I could not cross, because the water had risen and was deep enough for swimming— a river that could not be crossed on foot.
6AND HE SAID TO ME ¿ DO YOU SEE O SON OF HUMANKIND AND HE LED ME AND HE BROUGHT BACK ME [THE] BANK OF THE RIVER 6“Son of man, do you see this?” he asked. Then he led me back to the bank of the river.
7WHEN HAD RETURNED I AND THERE! [WAS] TO [THE] BANK OF THE RIVER TREE[S] MANY VERY FROM THIS AND FROM THIS 7When I arrived, I saw a great number of trees along both banks of the river.
8AND HE SAID TO ME THE WATERS <THE> THESE [ARE] GOING OUT TO THE TERRITORY <THE> EASTERN AND THEY WILL GO DOWN TO THE ARABAH AND THEY WILL GO THE SEA TOWARDS TO THE SEA <TOWARDS> THOSE [WHICH] WERE BROUGHT OUT AND THEY WILL BE HEALED THE WATERS 8And he said to me, “This water flows out to the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah. When it empties into the Dead Sea,*NoteCloseLiterally the Sea the water there becomes fresh.*NoteCloseHebrew is healed; similarly in verses 9 and 11
9AND IT WILL BE EVERY CREATURE LIVING WHICH IT SWARMS TO EVERY WHERE IT WILL GO THERE TWO RIVERS IT WILL LIVE AND IT WILL BE THE FISH MANY VERY FOR THEY HAVE GONE THERE TOWARDS THE WATERS <THE> THESE SO THEY MAY BE HEALED AND IT WILL LIVE EVERY WHERE IT WILL GO THERE TOWARDS THE RIVER 9Wherever the river flows, there will be swarms of living creatures and a great number of fish, because it flows there and makes the waters fresh; so wherever the river flows, everything will flourish.
10AND IT WILL BE THEY HAVE STOOD AT IT FISHERMEN FROM EN GEDI AND TO EN- EGLAIM A SPREADING PLACE FOR NETS THEY WILL BE TO KIND ITS IT WILL BE FISH THEIR LIKE [THE] FISH OF THE SEA <THE> GREAT MANY VERY 10Fishermen will stand by the shore; from En-gedi to En-eglaim they will spread their nets to catch fish of many kinds, like the fish of the Great Sea.*NoteCloseThat is, the Mediterranean Sea; also in verses 15, 19, and 20
11SWAMPS ITS AND MARSHES ITS AND NOT THEY WILL BE HEALED TO SALT THEY WILL BE GIVEN 11But the swamps and marshes will not become fresh; they will be left for salt.
12AND AT THE RIVER IT WILL GROW UP ON BANK ITS FROM THIS AND FROM THIS EVERY TREE OF FOOD NOT IT WILL WITHER LEAFAGE ITS AND NOT IT WILL BE FINISHED FRUIT ITS TO MONTHS ITS IT WILL BEAR EARLY FRUIT FOR WATERS ITS FROM THE SANCTUARY THEY [ARE] COMING OUT AND IT WILL BE FRUIT ITS FOR FOOD AND LEAFAGE ITS [WILL BE] FOR HEALING 12Along both banks of the river, fruit trees of all kinds will grow. Their leaves will not wither, and their fruit will not fail. Each month they will bear fruit, because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will be used for food and their leaves for healing.”
13THUS HE SAYS [THE] LORD YAHWEH THIS [IS THE] BOUNDARY WHICH YOU WILL GIVE AS POSSESSION <OBJ.> THE LAND TO TWO [PLUS] TEN [THE] TRIBES OF ISRAEL JOSEPH MEASURED PORTIONS The Borders of the Land 13This is what the Lord GOD says: “These are the boundaries by which you are to divide the land as an inheritance among the twelve tribes of Israel; Joseph shall receive two portions.*NoteCloseSince Levi had no portion, Joseph’s sons Ephraim and Manasseh received land as two tribes.
14AND YOU WILL DIVIDE AS POSSESSION <OBJ.> IT EACH LIKE BROTHER HIS WHICH I LIFTED UP <OBJ.> HAND MY TO GIVE IT TO ANCESTORS YOUR AND IT WILL FALL THE LAND <THE> THIS TO YOU <IN> AN INHERITANCE 14You are to divide it equally among them. Because I swore with an uplifted hand to give it to your forefathers, this land will fall to you as an inheritance.
15AND THIS [IS] [THE] BOUNDARY OF THE LAND TO [THE] SIDE OF NORTH -WARD FROM THE SEA <THE> GREAT THE DIRECTION OF HETHLON LEBO ZEDAD TOWARDS 15This shall be the boundary of the land: On the north side it will extend from the Great Sea by way of Hethlon through Lebo-hamath to Zedad,
16HAMATH BEROTHAH SIBRAIM WHICH [IS] BETWEEN [THE] TERRITORY OF DAMASCUS AND BETWEEN [THE] TERRITORY OF HAMATH HAZER- HATTIKON WHICH [IS] TO [THE] BORDER OF HAURAN 16Berothah, and Sibraim*NoteCloseLXX; MT <span class=|fnv|>15...through Lebo to Zedad, <span class=|fnv|>16Hamath, Berothah, and Sibraim (which is on the border between Damascus and Hamath), as far as Hazer-hatticon, which is on the border of Hauran.
17AND IT WILL BE [THE] BOUNDARY FROM THE SEA HAZAR ENAN [THE] BORDER OF DAMASCUS AND NORTH NORTH -WARD AND [THE] TERRITORY OF HAMATH AND <OBJ.> [THE] SIDE OF [THE] NORTH 17So the border will run from the Sea to Hazar-enan, along the northern border of Damascus, with the territory of Hamath to the north. This will be the northern boundary.
18AND [WILL BE THE] SIDE OF [THE] EAST FROM BETWEEN HAURAN AND FROM BETWEEN DAMASCUS AND FROM BETWEEN <THE> GILEAD AND FROM BETWEEN [THE] LAND OF ISRAEL THE JORDAN FROM [THE] BORDER TO THE SEA <THE> EASTERN <TO> TAMAR AND <OBJ.> [THE] SIDE EAST -WARD 18On the east side the border will run between Hauran and Damascus, along the Jordan between Gilead and the land of Israel, to the Eastern Sea and as far as Tamar.*NoteCloseSee Syriac; that is, of Israel, to the Dead Sea and as far as Tamar; Hebrew of Israel. And along the Eastern Sea you are to measure. This will be the eastern boundary.
19AND [THE] SIDE OF [THE] SOUTH SOUTH -WARD [WILL BE] FROM TAMAR TO [THE] WATERS OF MERIBATH KADESH [THE] WADI <TOWARDS> TO THE SEA <THE> GREAT AND <OBJ.> [THE] SIDE OF SOUTH -WARD SOUTH -WARD 19On the south side it will run from Tamar to the waters of Meribath-kadesh, and along the Brook of Egypt*NoteCloseHebrew does not include of Egypt. to the Great Sea. This will be the southern boundary.
20AND [THE] SIDE OF [THE] WEST [IS] THE SEA <THE> GREAT FROM [THE] BORDER TO OPPOSITE LEBO HAMATH THIS [IS THE] SIDE OF [THE] WEST 20And on the west side, the Great Sea will be the boundary up to a point opposite Lebo-hamath. This will be the western boundary.
21AND YOU WILL DIVIDE <OBJ.> THE LAND <THE> THIS FOR <THE> YOURSELVES TO [THE] TRIBES OF ISRAEL 21You are to divide this land among yourselves according to the tribes of Israel.
22AND IT WILL BE YOU WILL MAKE FALL <OBJ.> IT <IN> AN INHERITANCE FOR YOURSELVES AND FOR THE SOJOURNERS WHO SOJOURN IN MIDST OF YOU WHO THEY HAVE FATHERED CHILDREN IN MIDST OF YOU AND THEY WILL BE TO YOU LIKE [THE] NATIVE-BORN AMONG [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL WITH YOU THEY WILL FALL <IN> AN INHERITANCE IN AMONG [THE] TRIBES OF ISRAEL 22You shall allot it as an inheritance for yourselves and for the foreigners who dwell among you and who have children. You are to treat them as native-born Israelites; along with you, they shall be allotted an inheritance among the tribes of Israel.
23AND IT WILL BE IN THE TRIBE WHICH HE HAS SOJOURNED THE SOJOURNER WITH IT THERE YOU WILL GIVE [HIM] INHERITANCE HIS [THE] UTTERANCE OF [THE] LORD YAHWEH 23In whatever tribe a foreigner dwells, you are to assign his inheritance there,” declares the Lord GOD.
