31AND THEY WENT DOWN BROTHERS HIS AND ALL [THE] HOUSEHOLD OF FATHER HIS AND THEY CARRIED <OBJ.> HIM AND THEY BROUGHT [HIM] UP AND THEY BURIED <OBJ.> HIM BETWEEN ZORAH AND BETWEEN ESHTAOL IN [THE] TOMB OF MANOAH FATHER HIS AND HE HE JUDGED <OBJ.> ISRAEL TWENTY YEAR[S] 31Then Samson’s brothers and his father’s family came down, carried him back, and buried him between Zorah and Eshtaol in the tomb of his father Manoah. And he had judged Israel twenty years.
1AND HE WAS A MAN FROM [THE] HILL COUNTRY OF EPHRAIM AND NAME HIS [WAS] MICAIAH Micah’s Idolatry 1Now a man named Micah from the hill country of Ephraim
2AND HE SAID TO MOTHER HIS ONE THOUSAND AND ONE HUNDRED THE SILVER WHICH IT WAS TAKEN TO <THE> YOU AND YOU YOU CURSED AND ALSO YOU SAID IN EARS MY HERE! THE SILVER [IS] WITH ME I I TOOK IT AND SHE SAID MOTHER HIS [BE] BLESSED SON MY BY YAHWEH 2said to his mother, “The eleven hundred shekels of silver*NoteClose1,100 shekels is approximately 27.6 pounds or 12.5 kilograms of silver; also in verse 3. that were taken from you and about which I heard you utter a curse— I have the silver here with me; I took it.” Then his mother said, “Blessed be my son by the LORD!”
3AND HE BROUGHT BACK <OBJ.> [THE] ONE THOUSAND AND ONE HUNDRED THE SILVER TO MOTHER HIS AND SHE SAID MOTHER HIS CERTAINLY <TO CONSECRATE> I CONSECRATE <OBJ.> THE SILVER TO YAHWEH FROM HAND MY FOR SON MY TO MAKE A CARVED IMAGE AND A MOLTEN IMAGE AND THEREFORE I WILL RETURN IT TO <THE> YOU 3And when he had returned the eleven hundred shekels of silver to his mother, she said, “I wholly dedicate the silver to the LORD for my son’s benefit, to make a graven image and a molten idol. Therefore I will now return it to you.”
4AND HE BROUGHT BACK <OBJ.> THE SILVER TO MOTHER HIS AND SHE TOOK MOTHER HIS TWO HUNDRED SILVER AND SHE GAVE IT TO THE SILVERSMITH AND HE MADE IT A CARVED IMAGE AND A MOLTEN IMAGE AND IT WAS IN [THE] HOUSE OF MICAIAH 4So he returned the silver to his mother, and she took two hundred shekels of silver*NoteClose200 shekels is approximately 5 pounds or 2.3 kilograms of silver. and gave them to a silversmith, who made them into a graven image and a molten idol. And they were placed in the house of Micah.
5AND THE MAN MICAH [BELONGED] TO <THE> HIM A HOUSE OF GOD AND HE MADE AN EPHOD AND TERAPHIM AND HE FILLED <OBJ.> [THE] HAND OF ONE FROM SONS HIS AND HE BECAME OF HIM <INTO> A PRIEST 5Now this man Micah had a shrine, and he made an ephod and some household idols, and ordained*NoteCloseHebrew filled the hand of; also in verse 12 one of his sons as his priest.
6IN THE DAYS <THE> THOSE THERE NOT [WAS] A KING IN ISRAEL EVERYONE THE RIGHT IN VIEW HIS HE DID 6In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.
7AND HE WAS A YOUNG MAN FROM BETH- -LEHEM JUDAH FROM [THE] TRIBE OF JUDAH AND HE [WAS] A LEVITE AND HE [WAS] SOJOURNING THERE 7And there was a young Levite from Bethlehem in Judah who had been residing within the clan of Judah.
8AND HE WENT THE MAN FROM THE CITY FROM BETH- -LEHEM JUDAH TO SOJOURN IN WHERE HE WILL FIND AND HE CAME [THE] HILL COUNTRY OF EPHRAIM TO [THE] HOUSE OF MICAH TO MAKE JOURNEY HIS 8This man left the city of Bethlehem in Judah to settle where he could find a place. And as he traveled, he came to Micah’s house in the hill country of Ephraim.
9AND HE SAID TO <THE> HIM MICAH FROM WHERE? DO YOU COME AND HE SAID TO HIM [AM] A LEVITE I FROM BETH- -LEHEM JUDAH AND I [AM] GOING TO SOJOURN IN WHERE I WILL FIND 9“Where are you from?” Micah asked him. “I am a Levite from Bethlehem in Judah,” he replied, “and I am on my way to settle wherever I can find a place.”
10AND HE SAID TO <THE> HIM MICAH REMAIN! WITH ME AND BECOME OF ME <INTO> A FATHER AND <INTO> A PRIEST AND I I WILL GIVE TO <THE> YOU TEN SILVER TO THE DAYS AND AN ORDER OF GARMENTS AND SUSTENANCE YOUR AND HE WENT THE LEVITE 10“Stay with me,” Micah said to him, “and be my father and priest, and I will give you ten shekels of silver*NoteClose10 shekels is approximately 4 ounces or 114 grams of silver. per year, a suit of clothes, and your provisions.” So the Levite went in
11AND HE WAS WILLING THE LEVITE TO DWELL WITH THE MAN AND HE WAS THE YOUNG MAN TO <THE> HIM LIKE ONE FROM SONS HIS 11and agreed to stay with him, and the young man became like a son to Micah.
12AND HE FILLED MICAH <OBJ.> [THE] HAND OF THE LEVITE AND HE BECAME OF HIM THE YOUNG MAN <INTO> A PRIEST AND HE WAS IN [THE] HOUSE OF MICAH 12Micah ordained the Levite, and the young man became his priest and lived in his house.
13AND HE SAID MICAH NOW I KNOW THAT HE WILL DO GOOD YAHWEH TO <THE> ME FOR HE HAS BECOME OF ME THE LEVITE <INTO> A PRIEST 13Then Micah said, “Now I know that the LORD will be good to me, because a Levite has become my priest.”
