32[THE] LIPS OF [THE] RIGHTEOUS THEY KNOW! PLEASURE AND [THE] MOUTH OF WICKED [PEOPLE] PERVERSITIES 32The lips of the righteous know what is fitting, but the mouth of the wicked is perverse.
1SCALES OF DECEIT [ARE] [THE] ABOMINATION OF YAHWEH AND A WEIGHT PERFECT [IS] PLEASURE HIS Dishonest Scales (Deuteronomy 25:13–16; Ezekiel 45:10–12) 1Dishonest scales are an abomination to the LORD, but an accurate weight is His delight.
2IT COMES PRIDE AND IT CAME SHAME AND [IS] WITH MODEST [PEOPLE] WISDOM 2When pride comes, disgrace follows, but with humility comes wisdom.
3[THE] INTEGRITY OF UPRIGHT [PEOPLE] IT GUIDES THEM AND [THE] CROOKEDNESS OF TREACHEROUS [PEOPLE] IT DESTROYS THEM 3The integrity of the upright guides them, but the perversity of the faithless destroys them.
4NOT IT PROFITS WEALTH IN [THE] DAY OF FURY AND RIGHTEOUSNESS IT DELIVERS FROM DEATH 4Riches are worthless in the day of wrath, but righteousness brings deliverance from death.
5[THE] RIGHTEOUSNESS OF A BLAMELESS [PERSON] IT MAKES STRAIGHT WAY HIS AND BY WICKEDNESS HIS HE FALLS A WICKED [PERSON] 5The righteousness of the blameless directs their path, but the wicked fall by their own wickedness.
6[THE] RIGHTEOUSNESS OF UPRIGHT [PEOPLE] IT DELIVERS THEM AND BY [THE] CRAVING OF TREACHEROUS [PEOPLE] THEY ARE CAUGHT 6The righteousness of the upright delivers them, but the faithless are trapped by their own desires.
7AT [THE] DEATH OF A PERSON WICKED IT IS LOST HOPE AND [THE] HOPE OF STRENGTH<S> IT PERISHES 7When the wicked man dies, his hope perishes, and the hope of his strength vanishes.
8A RIGHTEOUS [PERSON] FROM DISTRESS [IS] DELIVERED AND HE CAME A WICKED [PERSON] IN PLACE HIS 8The righteous man is delivered from trouble; in his place the wicked man goes in.
9BY [THE] MOUTH A GODLESS [PERSON] HE RUINS NEIGHBOR HIS AND BY KNOWLEDGE RIGHTEOUS [PEOPLE] THEY ARE DELIVERED 9With his mouth the ungodly man destroys his neighbor, but through knowledge the righteous are rescued.
10IN [THE] PROSPERITY OF RIGHTEOUS [PEOPLE] IT REJOICES A TOWN AND WHEN PERISH WICKED [PEOPLE] A SHOUT OF JOY 10When the righteous thrive, the city rejoices, and when the wicked perish, there are shouts of joy.
11BY [THE] BLESSING OF UPRIGHT [PEOPLE] IT IS EXALTED A TOWN AND BY [THE] MOUTH OF WICKED [PEOPLE] IT IS TORN DOWN 11By the blessing of the upright a city is built up, but by the mouth of the wicked it is torn down.
12[ONE WHO] DESPISES <TO> NEIGHBOR HIS [IS] LACKING OF HEART AND A PERSON OF UNDERSTANDING<S> HE KEEPS QUIET 12Whoever shows contempt for his neighbor lacks judgment, but a man of understanding remains silent.
13[ONE WHO] GOES ABOUT A SLANDERER [IS] REVEALING A SECRET AND A [PERSON] FAITHFUL OF SPIRIT [IS] CONCEALING A MATTER 13A gossip reveals a secret, but a trustworthy person keeps a confidence.
14WHEN THERE NOT [ARE] WISE DIRECTIONS IT FALLS A PEOPLE AND VICTORY [IS] IN A MULTITUDE OF COUNSELOR[S] 14For lack of guidance, a nation falls, but with many counselors comes deliverance.
15HARM HE IS HARMED FOR HE STOOD SURETY FOR A STRANGER AND [ONE WHO] HATES THOSE STRIKING HANDS [IS] SECURE 15He who puts up security for a stranger will surely suffer, but the one who hates indebtedness is secure.
16A WOMAN OF GRACE SHE LAYS HOLD OF HONOR AND RUTHLESS [PEOPLE] THEY TAKE HOLD OF WEALTH 16A gracious woman attains honor, but ruthless men gain only wealth.
17[IS] DEALING BOUNTIFULLY WITH SELF HIS A PERSON OF LOYALTY AND [IS] TROUBLING BODY HIS A CRUEL [PERSON] 17A kind man benefits himself, but a cruel man brings trouble on himself.
18A WICKED [PERSON] [IS] MAKING WAGE[S] OF FALSEHOOD AND [ONE WHO] SOWS RIGHTEOUSNESS WAGE[S] OF TRUTH 18The wicked man earns an empty wage, but he who sows righteousness reaps a true reward.
19TRUE RIGHTEOUSNESS [IS] TO LIFE AND [ONE WHO] PURSUES EVIL [IS] TO OWN DEATH HIS 19Genuine righteousness leads to life, but the pursuit of evil brings death.
20[ARE] [THE] ABOMINATION OF YAHWEH PERVERSE [PEOPLE] OF HEART AND [ARE] PLEASURE HIS [PEOPLE] BLAMELESS OF WAY 20The perverse in heart are an abomination to the LORD, but the blameless in their walk are His delight.
21HAND TO HAND NOT HE WILL GO UNPUNISHED AN EVIL [PERSON] AND [THE] OFFSPRING OF RIGHTEOUS [PEOPLE] HE WILL BE DELIVERED 21Be assured that the wicked will not go unpunished, but the offspring of the righteous will escape.
22A RING OF GOLD IN [THE] NOSE OF A PIG A WOMAN BEAUTIFUL AND [WHO] TURNS ASIDE FROM <OF> DISCERNMENT 22Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout is a beautiful woman who lacks discretion.
23[THE] DESIRE OF RIGHTEOUS [PEOPLE] ONLY [IS] GOOD [THE] HOPE OF WICKED [PEOPLE] [IS] FURY 23The desire of the righteous leads only to good, but the hope of the wicked brings wrath.
24THERE [IS ONE WHO] SCATTERS AND [WHO IS] INCREASED STILL AND [ONE WHO] WITHHOLDS FROM UPRIGHTNESS ONLY TO POVERTY 24One gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds what is right, only to become poor.
25A PERSON OF BLESSING HE WILL BE MADE FAT AND [ONE WHO] GIVES WATER ALSO HE HE WILL BE GIVEN WATER 25A generous soul will prosper, and he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.
26[ONE WHO] WITHHOLDS GRAIN THEY CURSE HIM A PEOPLE AND A BLESSING [BELONGS] TO [THE] HEAD OF [ONE WHO] SELLS GRAIN 26The people will curse the hoarder of grain, but blessing will crown the one who sells it.
27[ONE WHO] SEEKS DILIGENTLY GOOD HE SEEKS FAVOR AND [ONE WHO] SEEKS CAREFULLY EVIL IT WILL COME TO HIM 27He who searches out good finds favor, but evil will come to him who seeks it.
28[ONE WHO] TRUSTS IN WEALTH HIS HE HE WILL FALL AND LIKE <THE> LEAF RIGHTEOUS [PEOPLE] THEY WILL BUD 28He who trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like foliage.
29[ONE WHO] TROUBLES HOUSEHOLD HIS HE WILL INHERIT WIND AND [WILL BE] A SERVANT A FOOL OF [THE] WISE OF HEART 29He who brings trouble on his house will inherit the wind, and the fool will be servant to the wise of heart.
30[THE] FRUIT OF [THE] RIGHTEOUS [IS] A TREE OF LIFE AND [ONE WHO] TAKES PEOPLE [IS] WISE 30The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise.
31THERE! A RIGHTEOUS [PERSON] ON THE EARTH HE IS REWARDED INDEED?
