2ALSO WITH NOT KNOWLEDGE A PERSON NOT [IS] GOOD AND [ONE WHO] HASTENS WITH FEET [IS] MISSING 2Even zeal is no good without knowledge, and he who hurries his footsteps misses the mark.
3[THE] FOLLY OF A PERSON IT SUBVERTS WAY HIS AND TOWARDS YAHWEH IT RAGES HEART HIS 3A man’s own folly subverts his way, yet his heart rages against the LORD.
4WEALTH IT ADDS FRIENDS MANY AND A POOR [PERSON] FROM FRIEND HIS HE IS SEPARATED 4Wealth attracts many friends, but a poor man is deserted by his friend.
5A WITNESS OF LIES NOT HE WILL GO UNPUNISHED AND HE MAY BREATHE OUT LIES NOT HE WILL ESCAPE 5A false witness will not go unpunished, and one who utters lies will not escape.
6MANY [PEOPLE] THEY ENTREAT [THE] FACE OF A NOBLE [PERSON] AND EVERYONE [IS] THE FRIEND OF A PERSON OF GIFT 6Many seek the favor of the prince, and everyone is a friend of the gift giver.
7ALL [THE] BROTHERS OF A POOR [PERSON] THEY HATE HIM INDEED? FOR FRIEND[S] HIS THEY ARE DISTANT FROM HIM [ONE WHO] PURSUES WORDS TO HIM THEY 7All the brothers of a poor man hate him— how much more do his friends avoid him! He may pursue them with pleading, but they are nowhere to be found.
8[ONE WHO] ACQUIRES HEART [IS] LOVING OWN SELF HIS [ONE WHO] KEEPS UNDERSTANDING [IS] TO FIND GOOD 8He who acquires wisdom loves himself; one who safeguards understanding will find success.
9A WITNESS OF LIES NOT HE WILL GO UNPUNISHED AND HE MAY BREATHE OUT LIES HE WILL PERISH 9A false witness will not go unpunished, and one who pours out lies will perish.
10NOT [IS] SUITABLE FOR A FOOL LUXURY INDEED? FOR FOR A SLAVE TO RULE OVER PRINCES 10Luxury is unseemly for a fool— how much worse for a slave to rule over princes!
11[THE] PRUDENCE OF A PERSON IT MAKES LONG ANGER HIS AND GLORY HIS [IS] TO PASS OVER TRANSGRESSION 11A man’s insight gives him patience, and his virtue is to overlook an offense.
12[IS] A ROARING LIKE <THE> YOUNG LION [THE] RAGE OF A KING AND [IS] LIKE DEW ON GRASS FAVOR HIS 12A king’s rage is like the roar of a lion, but his favor is like dew on the grass.
13[IS] DESTRUCTION<S> TO FATHER HIS A SON A FOOL AND [ARE] A DRIPPING CONTINUOUS [THE] CONTENTIONS OF A WIFE 13A foolish son is his father’s ruin, and a quarrelsome wife is like a constant dripping.
14HOUSE AND WEALTH [ARE] AN INHERITANCE OF FATHERS AND [IS] FROM YAHWEH A WIFE PRUDENT 14Houses and wealth are inherited from fathers, but a prudent wife is from the LORD.
15LAZINESS IT MAKES FALL DEEP SLEEP AND A PERSON OF IDLENESS HE WILL BE HUNGRY 15Laziness brings on deep sleep, and an idle soul will suffer hunger.
16[ONE WHO] KEEPS A COMMANDMENT [IS] GUARDING LIFE HIS [THE] [ONE WHO] DESPISES <OF> WAYS HIS HE WILL DIE 16He who keeps a commandment preserves his soul, but he who is careless in his ways will die.
17[IS] LENDING TO YAHWEH [ONE WHO] SHOWS FAVOR TO A POOR [PERSON] AND RECOMPENSE HIS HE WILL REPAY TO HIM 17Kindness to the poor is a loan to the LORD, and He will repay the lender.
18DISCIPLINE SON YOUR FOR THERE [IS] HOPE AND TO PUTTING TO DEATH HIM MAY NOT YOU LIFT UP DESIRE YOUR 18Discipline your son, for in that there is hope; do not be party to his death.
19A [PERSON] GREAT OF RAGE [IS] BEARING [THE] PENALTY THAT EXCEPT YOU WILL RESCUE AND AGAIN YOU WILL REPEAT 19A man of great anger must pay the penalty; if you rescue him, you will have to do so again.
20LISTEN TO COUNSEL AND ACCEPT CORRECTION SO THAT YOU MAY BECOME WISE IN END YOUR 20Listen to counsel and accept discipline, that you may be wise the rest of your days.
21MANY PLANS [ARE] IN [THE] HEART OF A PERSON AND [THE] PURPOSE OF YAHWEH IT IT WILL STAND 21Many plans are in a man’s heart, but the purpose of the LORD will prevail.
22[IS THE] DESIRE OF A PERSON LOYALTY HIS AND [IS] GOOD A POOR [PERSON] MORE THAN A PERSON OF FALSEHOOD 22The desire of a man is loving devotion; better to be poor than a liar.
23[THE] FEAR OF YAHWEH [IS] TO LIFE AND SATISFIED SOMEONE WILL PASS [THE] NIGHT NOT HE WILL BE VISITED TROUBLE 23The fear of the LORD leads to life, that one may rest content, without visitation from harm.
24HE HIDES A SLUGGARD HAND HIS IN THE DISH ALSO TO MOUTH HIS NOT HE BRINGS BACK IT 24The slacker buries his hand in the dish; he will not even bring it back to his mouth.
25A MOCKER YOU WILL STRIKE AND A NAIVE PERSON HE WILL BECOME PRUDENT AND TO REPROVE <TO> A DISCERNING [PERSON] HE WILL UNDERSTAND KNOWLEDGE 25Strike a mocker, and the simple will beware; rebuke the discerning man, and he will gain knowledge.
26[ONE WHO] ASSAULTS A FATHER HE DRIVES AWAY A MOTHER [IS] A SON [WHO] BRINGS SHAME AND [WHO] CAUSES SHAME 26He who assaults his father or evicts his mother is a son who brings shame and disgrace.
27CEASE O SON MY TO LISTEN TO CORRECTION TO STRAY FROM WORDS OF KNOWLEDGE 27If you cease to hear instruction, my son, you will stray from the words of knowledge.
28A WITNESS OF WORTHLESSNESS HE MOCKS JUSTICE AND [THE] MOUTH OF WICKED [PEOPLE] IT SWALLOWS UP WICKEDNESS 28A corrupt witness mocks justice, and a wicked mouth swallows iniquity.
29THEY ARE PREPARED FOR <THE> MOCKERS JUDGMENTS AND BLOWS FOR [THE] BACK OF FOOLS 29Judgments are prepared for mockers, and beatings for the backs of fools.
