3HEAVEN FOR <THE> HEIGHT AND EARTH FOR <THE> DEPTH AND [THE] HEART OF KINGS THERE NOT [IS] INQUIRY 3As the heavens are high and the earth is deep, so the hearts of kings cannot be searched.
4REMOVE DROSS<ES> FROM SILVER AND IT CAME OUT FOR THE METALSMITH A VESSEL 4Remove the dross from the silver, and a vessel for a silversmith will come forth.

11APPLES OF GOLD IN SETTINGS OF SILVER A WORD SPOKEN ON PROPER TIMES ITS 11A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.
12AN EARRING OF GOLD AND AN ORNAMENT OF PURE GOLD [ONE WHO] REPROVES WISE ON AN EAR LISTENING 12Like an earring of gold or an ornament of fine gold is a wise man’s rebuke to a listening ear.
13[IS] LIKE [THE] COLD OF SNOW ON A DAY OF HARVEST AN ENVOY FAITHFUL TO [THOSE WHO] SENT HIM AND [THE] LIFE OF MASTERS HIS HE WILL RESTORE 13Like the cold of snow in the time of harvest is a trustworthy messenger to those who send him; he refreshes the soul of his masters.
14CLOUDS AND WIND AND [IS] RAIN THERE NOT A PERSON [WHO] BOASTS IN A GIFT OF FALSEHOOD 14Like clouds and wind without rain is the man who boasts of gifts never given.
15BY LENGTH OF ANGER<S> HE WILL BE PERSUADED A RULER AND A TONGUE SOFT IT WILL BREAK BONE 15Through patience a ruler can be persuaded, and a gentle tongue can break a bone.
16HONEY YOU HAVE FOUND EAT SUFFICIENCY YOUR LEST YOU SHOULD BE SURFEITED WITH IT AND YOU WILL VOMIT UP IT 16If you find honey, eat just what you need, lest you have too much and vomit it up.
17MAKE RARE FOOT YOUR FROM [THE] HOUSE OF NEIGHBOR YOUR LEST HE SHOULD BE SURFEITED WITH YOU AND HE WILL HATE YOU 17Seldom set foot in your neighbor’s house, lest he grow weary and hate you.
18A WAR-CLUB AND A SWORD AND AN ARROW SHARPENED A PERSON [WHO] TESTIFIES AGAINST NEIGHBOR HIS A WITNESS OF FALSEHOOD 18Like a club or sword or sharp arrow is a man who bears false witness against his neighbor.
19A TOOTH BROKEN AND A FOOT SLIPPED [THE] TRUST OF [ONE WHO] ACTS TREACHEROUSLY IN A DAY OF TROUBLE 19Like a broken tooth or a foot out of joint is confidence in a faithless man in time of trouble.
20[ONE WHO] REMOVES A GARMENT ON A DAY OF COLDNESS VINEGAR ON SODA AND [ONE WHO] SINGS <WITH> THE SONGS TO A HEART SAD 20Like one who removes a garment on a cold day or vinegar poured on a wound*NoteCloseOr on soda is one who sings songs to a heavy heart.
21IF [IS] HUNGRY [ONE WHO] HATES YOU GIVE TO EAT HIM FOOD AND IF THIRSTY GIVE TO DRINK HIM WATER 21If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat, and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink.
22FOR BURNING COALS YOU [WILL] SNATCH UP ON HEAD HIS AND YAHWEH HE WILL REPAY TO YOU 22For in so doing, you will heap burning coals on his head,*NoteCloseLXX; Hebrew For you will heap burning coals on his head; cited in Romans 12:20 and the LORD will reward you.
23A WIND OF [THE] NORTH IT BRINGS FORTH RAIN AND FACES INDIGNANT A TONGUE OF SECRECY 23As the north wind brings forth rain, so a backbiting tongue brings angry looks.

25WATER COOL ON A PERSON WEARY AND A REPORT GOOD FROM A LAND OF DISTANCE 25Like cold water to a weary soul is good news from a distant land.
