11AND HE SAID TO ME TO BUILD FOR IT A HOUSE IN [THE] LAND OF SHINAR AND IT WILL BE PREPARED AND IT WILL BE PLACED THERE ON ON OWN STAND ITS 11“To build a house for it in the land of Shinar,*NoteCloseThat is, Babylonia ” he told me. “And when it is ready, the basket will be set there on its pedestal.”
1AND I RETURNED AND I LIFTED UP EYES MY AND I SAW AND THERE! FOUR CHARIOTS [WERE] COMING FORTH FROM BETWEEN [THE] TWO THE MOUNTAINS AND THE MOUNTAINS [WERE] MOUNTAINS OF BRONZE The Vision of the Four Chariots 1And again I lifted up my eyes and saw four chariots coming out from between two mountains— mountains of bronze.
2[WERE] WITH THE CHARIOT <THE> FIRST HORSES RED AND [WERE] WITH THE CHARIOT <THE> SECOND HORSES BLACK 2The first chariot had red horses, the second black horses,
3AND [WERE] WITH THE CHARIOT <THE> THIRD HORSES WHITE AND [WERE] WITH THE CHARIOT <THE> FOURTH HORSES DAPPLED STRONG 3the third white horses, and the fourth dappled horses— all of them strong.
4AND I ANSWERED AND I SAID TO THE ANGEL WHO WAS SPEAKING WITH ME WHAT? [ARE] THESE O LORD MY 4So I inquired of the angel who was speaking with me, “What are these, my lord?”
5AND HE ANSWERED THE ANGEL AND HE SAID TO ME THESE [ARE] [THE] FOUR [THE] WINDS OF THE HEAVENS GOING FORTH FROM WHEN PRESENTED THEMSELVES ON [THE] LORD OF ALL THE EARTH 5And the angel told me, “These are the four spirits*NoteCloseOr winds of heaven, going forth from their station before the Lord of all the earth.
6WHICH WITH IT THE HORSES <THE> BLACK [ARE] GOING OUT TO [THE] LAND OF [THE] NORTH AND THE WHITE [HORSES] THEY HAVE GONE OUT TO AFTER THEM AND THE DAPPLED [HORSES] THEY HAVE GONE OUT TO [THE] LAND OF THE SOUTH 6The one with the black horses is going toward the land of the north, the one with the white horses toward the west,*NoteCloseOr the one with the white horses after them and the one with the dappled horses toward the south.”
7AND THE STRONG [HORSES] THEY HAVE GONE OUT AND THEY HAVE SOUGHT TO GO TO GO ABOUT ON THE EARTH AND HE SAID GO GO ABOUT ON THE EARTH AND THEY WENT ABOUT ON THE EARTH 7As the strong horses went out, they were eager to go and patrol the earth; and the LORD said, “Go and patrol the earth.” So they patrolled the earth.
8AND HE CALLED OUT TO WITH ME AND HE SPOKE TO ME <TO> SAYING SEE THOSE [WHICH] ARE GOING OUT TO [THE] LAND OF [THE] NORTH THEY HAVE CAUSED TO REST <OBJ.> SPIRIT MY IN [THE] LAND OF [THE] NORTH 8Then the LORD summoned me and said, “Behold, those going to the land of the north have given rest to My Spirit in the land of the north.”
9AND IT CAME [THE] WORD OF YAHWEH TO ME <TO> SAYING The Crown and the Temple 9The word of the LORD also came to me, saying,
10TAKE FROM WITH THE EXILE[S] FROM HELDAI AND FROM WITH TOBIAH AND FROM WITH JEDAIAH AND YOU WILL GO YOU ON THE DAY <THE> THAT AND YOU WILL GO [THE] HOUSE JOSIAH [THE] SON OF ZEPHANIAH WHO THEY HAVE COME FROM BABYLON 10“Take an offering from the exiles— from Heldai, Tobijah, and Jedaiah, who have arrived from Babylon— and go that same day to the house of Josiah son of Zephaniah.
11AND YOU WILL TAKE SILVER AND GOLD AND YOU WILL MAKE A CROWN<S> AND YOU WILL PUT [IT] ON [THE] HEAD OF JOSHUA [THE] SON OF JEHOZADAK THE PRIEST <THE> GREAT 11Take silver and gold, make an ornate crown, and set it on the head of the high priest, Joshua son of Jehozadak.*NoteCloseJehozadak is a variant of Jozadak; see Ezra 3:2.
12AND YOU WILL SAY TO HIM <TO> SAYING THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH OF HOSTS <TO> SAYING THERE! A MAN [IS] BRANCH NAME HIS AND FROM UNDER HIM HE WILL SPROUT AND HE WILL BUILD <OBJ.> [THE] TEMPLE OF YAHWEH 12And you are to tell him that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: ‘Here is a man whose name is the Branch, and He will branch out from His place and build the temple of the LORD.
13AND HE HE WILL BUILD <OBJ.> [THE] TEMPLE OF YAHWEH AND HE HE WILL BEAR MAJESTY AND HE WILL SIT AND HE WILL RULE ON THRONE HIS AND HE WILL BE A PRIEST ON THRONE HIS AND A COUNSEL OF PEACE IT WILL BE BETWEEN [THE] TWO OF THEM 13Yes, He will build the temple of the LORD; He will be clothed in splendor and will sit on His throne and rule. And He will be a priest on His throne,*NoteCloseOr And there will be a priest on His throne and there will be peaceful counsel between the two.’
14AND THE CROWN<S> IT WILL BE TO HELEM AND TO TOBIAH AND TO JEDAIAH AND TO HEN [THE] SON OF ZEPHANIAH TO A MEMORIAL IN [THE] TEMPLE OF YAHWEH 14The crown will reside in the temple of the LORD as a memorial to Helem,*NoteCloseHebrew; Syriac Heldai; see verse 10. Tobijah, Jedaiah, and the gracious*NoteCloseOr and Hen; Syriac and Josiah; see verse 10. son of Zephaniah.
15AND DISTANT [ONES] THEY WILL COME AND THEY WILL BUILD <IN> [THE] TEMPLE OF YAHWEH AND YOU WILL KNOW THAT YAHWEH OF HOSTS HE HAS SENT ME TO YOU AND IT WILL BE <IF> CERTAINLY [IF] <LISTEN> YOU WILL LISTEN! TO [THE] VOICE OF YAHWEH GOD YOUR 15Even those far away will come and build the temple of the LORD, and you will know that the LORD of Hosts has sent Me to you. This will happen if you diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God.”
