1 AND HE CONSULTED DAVID WITH [THE] COMMANDERS OF THE THOUSANDS AND THE HUNDREDS TO EVERY LEADER
David Fetches the Ark
(2 Samuel 6:1–4 )
1 Then David conferred with all his leaders, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds.
2 AND HE SAID DAVID TO ALL [THE] ASSEMBLY OF ISRAEL IF [IS] ON YOU GOOD AND FROM YAHWEH GOD OUR LET US SPREAD OUT LET US SEND TO COUNTRYMEN OUR WHO REMAIN IN ALL [THE] LANDS OF ISRAEL AND WITH THEM THE PRIESTS AND THE LEVITES IN [THE] CITIES OF PASTURE LANDS THEIR SO THEY MAY GATHER TOGETHER TO US
2 And he said to the whole assembly of Israel, “If it seems good to you, and if this is of the LORD our God, let us send word far and wide to the rest of our brothers in all the land of Israel, and also to the priests and Levites in their cities and pasturelands, so that they may join us.
3 AND LET US BRING ROUND <OBJ.> [THE] ARK OF GOD OUR TO US FOR NOT WE SOUGHT IT IN [THE] DAYS OF SAUL
3 Then let us bring back the ark of our God, for we did not inquire of Him in the days of Saul.”
4 AND THEY SAID ALL THE ASSEMBLY TO DO THUS FOR IT WAS PLEASING THE MATTER IN [THE] EYES OF ALL THE PEOPLE
4 And because this proposal seemed right to all the people, the whole assembly agreed to it.
5 AND HE CALLED TOGETHER DAVID <OBJ.> ALL ISRAEL FROM SHIHOR OF EGYPT AND TO LEBO HAMATH TO BRING <OBJ.> [THE] ARK OF <THE> GOD FROM KIRIATH JEARIM
5 So David assembled all Israel, from the River Shihor in Egypt to Lebo-hamath to bring the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim.
6 AND HE WENT UP DAVID AND ALL ISRAEL BAALAH TOWARDS TO KIRIATH JEARIM WHICH [BELONGS] TO JUDAH TO BRING UP FROM THERE <OBJ.> [THE] ARK OF <THE> GOD YAHWEH [WHO] SITS THE CHERUBIM WHERE IT IS CALLED A NAME
6 David and all Israel went up to Baalah of Judah that is, Kiriath-jearim) to bring up from there the ark of God the LORD, who is enthroned between the cherubim— the ark that is called by the Name.
7 AND THEY MADE TO RIDE <OBJ.> [THE] ARK OF <THE> GOD ON A CART NEW FROM [THE] HOUSE OF ABINADAB AND UZZAH AND AHIO [WERE] LEADING <IN> THE CART
7 So they carried the ark of God from the house of Abinadab on a new cart, with Uzzah and Ahio guiding the cart.
8 AND DAVID AND ALL ISRAEL [WERE] MAKING MERRY <TO> BEFORE <THE> GOD WITH ALL STRENGTH AND WITH SONGS AND WITH HARPS AND WITH LYRES AND WITH TAMBOURINES AND WITH CYMBALS AND WITH TRUMPETS
Uzzah Touches the Ark
(2 Samuel 6:5–11 )
8 David and all the Israelites were celebrating before God with all their might, with songs and on harps and lyres, with tambourines, cymbals, and trumpets.
9 AND THEY CAME TO [THE] THRESHING FLOOR OF KIDON AND HE STRETCHED OUT UZZAH <OBJ.> HAND HIS TO GRASP <OBJ.> THE ARK FOR THEY STUMBLED THE OX[EN]
9 When they came to the threshing floor of Chidon, Uzzah reached out and took hold of the ark, because the oxen had stumbled.
10 AND IT BURNED [THE] ANGER OF YAHWEH ON UZZAH AND HE STRUCK DOWN HIM ON THAT HE HAD STRETCHED OUT HAND HIS ON THE ARK AND HE DIED THERE <TO> BEFORE GOD
10 And the anger of the LORD burned against Uzzah, and He struck him down because he had put his hand on the ark. So he died there before God.
11 AND IT BURNED TO DAVID FOR HE HAD BROKEN OUT YAHWEH A BREAKING OUT AGAINST UZZAH AND HE CALLED <TO> THE PLACE <THE> THAT PEREZ UZZAH UNTIL THE DAY <THE> THIS
11 Then David became angry because the LORD had burst forth against Uzzah. So he named that place Perez-uzzah, as it is called to this day.
12 AND HE FEARED DAVID <OBJ.> <THE> GOD ON THE DAY <THE> THAT <TO> SAYING HOW? WILL I BRING TO MYSELF <OBJ.> [THE] ARK OF <THE> GOD
12 That day David feared God and asked, “How can I ever bring the ark of God to me
13 AND NOT HE TURNED ASIDE DAVID <OBJ.> THE ARK TO HIMSELF TO [THE] CITY OF DAVID AND HE TURNED ASIDE IT TO [THE] HOUSE OF OBED- EDOM THE GITTITE
13 So he did not move the ark with him to the City of David; instead, he took it aside to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.
14 AND IT REMAINED [THE] ARK OF <THE> GOD WITH [THE] HOUSEHOLD OF OBED- EDOM IN HOUSE HIS THREE MONTHS AND HE BLESSED YAHWEH <OBJ.> [THE] HOUSEHOLD OF OBED- EDOM AND <OBJ.> ALL THAT [BELONGED] TO HIM
14 Thus the ark of God remained with the family of Obed-edom in his house for three months, and the LORD blessed his household and everything he owned.
