14AND IT REMAINED [THE] ARK OF <THE> GOD WITH [THE] HOUSEHOLD OF OBED- EDOM IN HOUSE HIS THREE MONTHS AND HE BLESSED YAHWEH <OBJ.> [THE] HOUSEHOLD OF OBED- EDOM AND <OBJ.> ALL THAT [BELONGED] TO HIM 14Thus the ark of God remained with the family of Obed-edom in his house for three months, and the LORD blessed his household and everything he owned.
1AND HE SENT HURAM [THE] KING OF TYRE MESSENGERS TO DAVID AND WOOD<S> OF CEDAR<S> AND CRAFTSMEN OF A WALL AND CRAFTSMEN OF WOOD<S> TO BUILD FOR HIM A HOUSE David’s Family Grows (2 Samuel 5:12–16) 1Now Hiram king of Tyre sent envoys to David, along with cedar logs, stonemasons, and carpenters, to build a palace for him.
2AND HE KNEW DAVID THAT HE HAD APPOINTED HIM YAHWEH TO KING OVER ISRAEL THAT [WAS] EXALTED <TO> UPWARDS <TOWARDS> KINGDOM HIS FOR SAKE OF PEOPLE HIS ISRAEL 2And David realized that the LORD had established him as king over Israel and had highly exalted his kingdom for the sake of His people Israel.
3AND HE TOOK DAVID AGAIN WIVES IN JERUSALEM AND HE FATHERED DAVID AGAIN SONS AND DAUGHTERS 3And David took more wives in Jerusalem and became the father of more sons and daughters.

8AND THEY HEARD [THE] PHILISTINES THAT HE HAD BEEN ANOINTED DAVID TO KING OVER ALL ISRAEL AND THEY WENT UP ALL [THE] PHILISTINES TO SEEK <OBJ.> DAVID AND HE HEARD DAVID AND HE WENT OUT <TO> BEFORE THEM Two Victories over the Philistines (2 Samuel 5:17–25) 8When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, they all went in search of him; but David learned of this and went out to face them.
9AND [THE] PHILISTINES THEY HAD COME AND THEY HAD MADE A RAID IN [THE] VALLEY OF [THE] REPHAITES 9Now the Philistines had come and raided the Valley of Rephaim.
10AND HE ENQUIRED DAVID BY GOD <TO> SAYING ¿ WILL I GO UP ON [THE] PHILISTINES AND WILL YOU GIVE? THEM IN HAND MY AND HE SAID TO HIM YAHWEH GO UP AND I WILL GIVE THEM IN HAND YOUR 10So David inquired of God “Should I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?” “Go,” replied the LORD, “for I will deliver them into your hand.”
11AND THEY WENT UP AT BAAL PERAZIM AND HE STRUCK DOWN THEM THERE DAVID AND HE SAID DAVID HE HAS BURST OUT AGAINST <THE> GOD <OBJ.> ENEMIES MY BY HAND MY LIKE A BURSTING OUT OF WATER THERE- -FORE PEOPLE CALLED [THE] NAME OF THE PLACE <THE> THAT BAAL PERAZIM 11So David and his men went up to Baal-perazim, where he defeated the Philistines and said, “Like a bursting flood, God has burst out against my enemies by my hand.” So they called that place Baal-perazim.*NoteCloseBaal-perazim means The Lord Bursts Out.
12AND THEY ABANDONED THERE <OBJ.> GODS THEIR AND HE SPOKE DAVID AND THEY WERE BURNED WITH <THE> FIRE 12There the Philistines abandoned their gods, and David ordered that they be burned in the fire.
13AND THEY REPEATED AGAIN [THE] PHILISTINES AND THEY MADE A RAID IN THE VALLEY 13Once again the Philistines raided the valley.
14AND HE ENQUIRED AGAIN DAVID BY GOD AND HE SAID TO HIM <THE> GOD NOT YOU WILL GO UP AFTER THEM GO AROUND FROM ON <THE> THEM AND YOU WILL COME TO THEM FROM [THE] FRONT OF THE BALSAM TREES 14So David again inquired of God, who answered him, “Do not march up after them, but circle around them and attack them in front of the balsam trees.*NoteCloseOr aspen trees or poplar trees; also in verse 15
15SO MAY IT BE WHEN HEARING YOU <OBJ.> [THE] SOUND OF <THE> MARCHING IN [THE] TOPS OF THE BALSAM TREES THEN YOU WILL GO OUT IN <THE> BATTLE FOR HE HAS GONE OUT <THE> GOD <TO> BEFORE YOU TO STRIKE DOWN <OBJ.> [THE] CAMP OF [THE] PHILISTINES 15As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, move out to battle, because this will mean that God has gone out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.”
16AND HE DID DAVID JUST AS HE HAD COMMANDED HIM <THE> GOD AND THEY STRUCK DOWN <OBJ.> [THE] CAMP OF [THE] PHILISTINES FROM GIBEON AND TO GEZER <TOWARDS> 16So David did as God had commanded him, and they struck down the army of the Philistines all the way from Gibeon to Gezer.
17AND IT WENT OUT [THE] NAME OF DAVID IN ALL THE LANDS AND YAHWEH HE PUT <OBJ.> DREAD OF HIM ON ALL THE NATIONS 17And David’s fame went out into every land, and the LORD caused all nations to fear him.
