1TO DIVISIONS OF GATEKEEPERS OF THE KORAHITES MESHELEMIAH [THE] SON OF KORE ONE OF [THE] SONS OF ASAPH The Divisions of the Gatekeepers 1These were the divisions of the gatekeepers: From the Korahites: Meshelemiah son of Kore, one of the sons of Asaph.
2AND [BELONGED] TO MESHELEMIAH SONS ZECHARIAH THE FIRSTBORN JEDIAEL THE SECOND ZEBADIAH THE THIRD JATHNIEL THE FOURTH 2Meshelemiah had sons: Zechariah the firstborn, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, Jathniel the fourth,
3ELAM THE FIFTH JEHOHANAN THE SIXTH ELIEHOENAI THE SEVENTH 3Elam the fifth, Jehohanan the sixth, and Eliehoenai the seventh.
4AND [BELONGED] TO OBED- EDOM SONS SHEMAIAH THE FIRSTBORN JEHOZABAD THE SECOND JOAH THE THIRD AND SAKAR THE FOURTH AND NETHANEL THE FIFTH 4And Obed-edom also had sons: Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, Sachar the fourth, Nethanel the fifth,
5AMMIEL THE SIXTH ISSACHAR THE SEVENTH PEULLETHAI THE EIGHTH FOR HE HAD BLESSED HIM GOD 5Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, and Peullethai the eighth. For God had blessed Obed-edom.
6AND TO SHEMAIAH SON HIS IT WAS BORN SONS THE RULERS OF [THE] HOUSE OF FATHER THEIR FOR [WERE] MIGHTY [MEN] OF ABILITY THEY 6Also to his son Shemaiah were born sons who ruled over their families because they were strong, capable men.
7[THE] SONS OF SHEMAIAH OTHNI AND REPHAEL AND OBED ELZABAD RELATIVES HIS SONS OF ABILITY ELIHU AND SEMAKIAH 7Shemaiah’s sons were Othni, Rephael, Obed, and Elzabad; his brothers were Elihu and Semachiah, also capable men.
8ALL THESE [WERE] OF [THE] DESCENDANTS OF OBED- EDOM THEY AND SONS THEIR AND RELATIVES THEIR [WERE] MAN OF ABILITY WITH <THE> STRENGTH FOR SERVICE SIXTY AND TWO [BELONGED] TO OBED- EDOM 8All these were descendants of Obed-edom; they and their sons and brothers were capable men with strength to do the work— 62 in all from Obed-edom.
9AND [BELONGED] TO MESHELEMIAH SONS AND RELATIVES SONS OF ABILITY EIGHT- TEEN 9Meshelemiah also had sons and brothers who were capable men— 18 in all.
10AND [BELONGED] TO HOSAH ONE OF [THE] DESCENDANTS OF MERARI SONS SHIMRI THE CHIEF FOR NOT HE WAS FIRSTBORN AND HE HAD APPOINTED HIM FATHER HIS TO CHIEF 10Hosah the Merarite also had sons: Shimri the first (although he was not the firstborn, his father had appointed him as the first),
11HILKIAH THE SECOND TEBALIAH THE THIRD ZECHARIAH THE FOURTH ALL [THE] SONS AND RELATIVES OF HOSAH [WERE] THIR- TEEN 11Hilkiah the second, Tebaliah the third, and Zechariah the fourth. The sons and brothers of Hosah numbered 13 in all.
12[BELONGED] TO THESE [THE] DIVISIONS OF THE GATEKEEPERS TO [THE] CHIEFS OF THE MEN DUTIES <TO> CORRESPONDING TO RELATIVES THEIR TO SERVE IN [THE] HOUSE OF YAHWEH 12These divisions of the gatekeepers, through their chief men, had duties for ministering in the house of the LORD, just as their relatives did.
13AND THEY CAST LOTS AS THE SMALL AS THE GREAT TO [THE] HOUSE OF ANCESTORS THEIR FOR A GATE AND A GATE 13They cast lots for each gate, according to their families, young and old alike.
14AND IT FELL THE LOT EAST -WARD TO SHELEMIAH AND ZECHARIAH SON HIS A COUNSELOR WITH INSIGHT THEY CAST LOTS AND IT CAME OUT LOT HIS NORTH -WARD 14The lot for the East Gate fell to Shelemiah.*NoteCloseShelemiah is a variant of Meshelemiah; see verse 2. Then lots were cast for his son Zechariah, a wise counselor, and the lot for the North Gate fell to him.
15TO OBED- EDOM [THE] SOUTH TOWARDS AND TO SONS HIS [THE] HOUSE OF THE STORE<S> 15The lot for the South Gate fell to Obed-edom, and the lot for the storehouses to his sons.
16TO SHUPPIM AND TO HOSAH TO THE WEST BESIDE [THE] GATE OF SHALLEKETH ON THE HIGHWAY WHICH GOES UP GUARD ALONG SIDE GUARD 16The lots for the West Gate and the Shallecheth Gate on the ascending highway*NoteCloseOr on the upper road fell to Shuppim and Hosah. There were guards stationed at every watch.
17TO THE EAST THE LEVITES SIX TO THE NORTH <TOWARDS> TO THE DAY FOUR TO THE SOUTH <TOWARDS> TO THE DAY FOUR AND FOR THE STOREHOUSES TWO TWO 17Each day there were six Levites on the east, four on the north, four on the south, and two pairs at the storehouse.

19THESE [WERE] [THE] DIVISIONS OF THE GATEKEEPERS OF [THE] DESCENDANTS OF THE KORAHITE[S] AND OF [THE] DESCENDANTS OF MERARI 19These were the divisions of the gatekeepers who were descendants of Korah and Merari.

22[THE] SONS OF JEHIELI ZETHAM AND JOEL BROTHER HIS [WERE] OVER [THE] STOREHOUSES OF [THE] HOUSE OF YAHWEH 22the sons of Jehieli, Zetham, and his brother Joel. They were in charge of the treasuries of the house of the LORD.
23TO THE AMRAMITE[S] TO THE IZHARITE[S] TO THE HEBRONITE[S] TO THE UZZIELITE[S] 23From the Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites, and the Uzzielites:
24AND SHEBUEL [THE] SON OF GERSHOM [THE] SON OF MOSES [WAS THE] CHIEF OVER THE STOREHOUSES 24Shebuel, a descendant of Gershom son of Moses, was the officer in charge of the treasuries.
25AND RELATIVES HIS TO ELIEZER REHABIAH SON HIS AND JESHAIAH SON HIS AND JORAM SON HIS AND ZIKRI SON HIS AND SHELOMITH SON HIS 25His relatives through Eliezer included Rehabiah his son, Jeshaiah*NoteCloseJeshaiah is a variant of Isshiah; see 1 Chronicles 24:21. his son, Joram his son, Zichri his son, and Shelomith his son.
26THAT SHELOMOTH AND RELATIVES HIS [WERE] OVER ALL [THE] STOREHOUSES OF THE HOLY THINGS WHICH HE HAD CONSECRATED DAVID THE KING AND [THE] HEADS OF THE FATHERS TO [THE] COMMANDERS OF THE THOUSANDS AND THE HUNDREDS AND [THE] COMMANDERS OF THE ARMY 26This Shelomith and his brothers were in charge of all the treasuries for the things dedicated by King David, by the heads of families who were the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and by the army commanders.
27SOME OF THE WARS AND SOME OF THE PLUNDER THEY CONSECRATED TO REPAIR <TO> [THE] HOUSE OF YAHWEH 27They had dedicated some of the plunder from their battles to the repair of the house of the LORD.
28AND ALL THAT HE HAD CONSECRATED SAMUEL THE SEER AND SAUL [THE] SON OF KISH AND ABNER [THE] SON OF NER AND JOAB [THE] SON OF ZERUIAH EVERY <THE> [ONE WHO] CONSECRATED [WAS] ON [THE] HAND OF SHELOMITH AND RELATIVES HIS 28Everything that had been dedicated by Samuel the seer, Saul son of Kish, Abner son of Ner, and Joab son of Zeruiah, along with everything else that was dedicated, was under the care of Shelomith and his brothers.
29TO THE IZHARITE[S] KENANIAH AND SONS HIS [WERE] FOR THE WORK <THE> OUTSIDE OVER ISRAEL TO OFFICIALS AND TO JUDGES 29From the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons had the outside duties*NoteCloseOr the duties outside (the temple) or the duties outside (Jerusalem) as officers and judges over Israel.
30TO THE HEBRONITE[S] HASHABIAH AND RELATIVES HIS SONS OF ABILITY ONE THOUSAND AND SEVEN HUNDRED<S> [WERE] OVER [THE] OVERSIGHT OF ISRAEL FROM [THE] OTHER SIDE OF THE JORDAN WEST -WARD TO ALL [THE] WORK OF YAHWEH AND TO [THE] SERVICE OF THE KING 30From the Hebronites, Hashabiah and his relatives, 1,700 capable men, had charge of the affairs of Israel west of the Jordan for all the work of the LORD and for the service of the king.
31TO THE HEBRONITE[S] JERIAH [WAS] THE CHIEF OF THE HEBRONITE[S] TO GENERATIONS HIS OF FATHERS IN [THE] YEAR OF THE FORTY OF [THE] REIGN OF DAVID THEY WERE INVESTIGATED AND IT WAS FOUND AMONG THEM MIGHTY [MEN] OF ABILITY AT JAZER OF GILEAD 31As for the Hebronites, Jerijah*NoteCloseJerijah is a variant of Jeriah; see 1 Chronicles 23:19. was the chief of the Hebronites, according to the genealogies of his ancestors. In the fortieth year of David’s reign the records were searched, and strong, capable men were found among the Hebronites at Jazer in Gilead.
32AND RELATIVES HIS [WERE] SONS OF ABILITY TWO THOUSAND AND SEVEN HUNDRED<S> [THE] HEADS OF THE FATHERS AND HE APPOINTED THEM DAVID THE KING OVER THE REUBENITE[S] AND THE GADITE[S] AND [THE] HALF OF [THE] TRIBE OF THE MANASSITE[S] TO EVERY <THE> MATTER OF <THE> GOD AND [THE] MATTER OF THE KING 32Among Jerijah’s relatives there were 2,700 capable men who were heads of families. King David appointed them over the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh for every matter pertaining to God and for the affairs of the king.
