1 AND HE SAID DAVID THE KING TO ALL THE ASSEMBLY SOLOMON SON MY [WHOM] ONE HE HAS CHOSEN <IN> HIM GOD [IS] A YOUTH AND WEAK AND THE WORK [IS] GREAT FOR NOT [IS] FOR A HUMAN PERSON THE TEMPLE FOR FOR YAHWEH GOD
Offerings for the Temple
1 Then King David said to the whole assembly, “My son Solomon, the one whom God has chosen, is young and inexperienced. The task is great because this palace is not for man, but for the LORD God.
2 AND ACCORDING TO ALL POWER MY I HAVE PREPARED FOR [THE] HOUSE OF GOD MY THE GOLD FOR THE GOLD AND THE SILVER FOR THE SILVER AND THE BRONZE FOR THE BRONZE THE IRON FOR THE IRON AND THE WOOD<S> FOR THE WOOD<S> STONES OF ONYX AND SETTINGS STONES OF ANTIMONY AND VARIEGATED COLOR AND EVERY STONE PRECIOUS AND STONES OF ALABASTER TO ABUNDANCE
2 Now with all my ability I have made provision for the house of my God— gold for the gold articles, silver for the silver, bronze for the bronze, iron for the iron, and wood for the wood, as well as onyx for the settings, turquoise, stones of various colors, all kinds of precious stones, and slabs of marble— all in abundance.
3 AND AGAIN BECAUSE DELIGHT I IN [THE] HOUSE OF GOD MY THERE [BELONGS] TO ME TREASURE GOLD AND SILVER I GIVE FOR [THE] HOUSE OF GOD MY <TO> UPWARDS <TOWARDS> MORE THAN ALL [THAT] I HAVE PREPARED FOR [THE] HOUSE OF THE HOLINESS
3 Moreover, because of my delight in the house of my God, I now give for it my personal treasures of gold and silver, over and above all that I have provided for this holy temple:
4 THREE THOUSAND<S> TALENTS OF GOLD FROM [THE] GOLD OF OPHIR AND SEVEN THOUSAND<S> TALENT[S] OF SILVER PURIFIED TO OVERLAY [THE] WALLS OF THE HOUSES
4 three thousand talents of gold (the gold of Ophir) and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the buildings,
5 <TO> THE GOLD FOR THE GOLD AND <TO> THE SILVER FOR THE SILVER AND FOR EVERY WORK BY [THE] HAND OF CRAFTSMEN AND WHO? [IS] MAKING A CONTRIBUTION TO FILL OWN HAND HIS THIS DAY TO YAHWEH
5 for the gold work and the silver work, and for all the work to be done by the craftsmen. Now who is willing to consecrate himself to the LORD today?”
6 AND THEY MADE A CONTRIBUTION [THE] LEADERS OF THE FATHERS AND [THE] LEADERS OF [THE] TRIBES OF ISRAEL AND [THE] COMMANDERS OF THE THOUSANDS AND THE HUNDREDS AND <TO> [THE] LEADERS OF [THE] WORK OF THE KING
6 Then the leaders of the families, the officers of the tribes of Israel, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and the officials in charge of the king’s work gave willingly.
7 AND THEY GAVE FOR [THE] SERVICE OF [THE] HOUSE OF <THE> GOD GOLD TALENTS FIVE THOUSAND<S> AND DARICS TEN THOUSAND AND SILVER TALENTS TEN THOUSAND<S> AND BRONZE TEN THOUSAND AND EIGHT THOUSAND<S> TALENTS AND IRON ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND TALENTS
7 Toward the service of God’s house they gave 5,000. talents and 10,000 darics of gold, 10,000. talents of silver, 18,000. talents of bronze, and 100,000 talents of iron.
8 AND THE [ONE WHO] WAS FOUND WITH HIM STONES THEY GAVE [THEM] TO [THE] TREASURY OF [THE] HOUSE OF YAHWEH ON [THE] HAND OF JEHIEL THE GERSHONITE
8 Whoever had precious stones gave them to the treasury of the house of the LORD, under the care of Jehiel the Gershonite.
9 AND THEY REJOICED THE PEOPLE BECAUSE HAD MADE A CONTRIBUTION THEY FOR WITH A HEART COMPLETE THEY HAD MADE A CONTRIBUTION TO YAHWEH AND ALSO DAVID THE KING HE REJOICED JOY GREAT
9 And the people rejoiced at the willing response of their leaders, for they had given to the LORD freely and wholeheartedly. And King David also rejoiced greatly.
10 AND HE BLESSED DAVID <OBJ.> YAHWEH TO [THE] EYES OF ALL THE ASSEMBLY AND HE SAID DAVID [BE] BLESSED YOU O YAHWEH [THE] GOD OF ISRAEL ANCESTOR OUR FROM ANTIQUITY AND UNTIL PERPETUITY
David’s Prayer of Blessing
10 Then David blessed the LORD in the sight of all the assembly and said:
“May You be blessed, O LORD, God of our father Israel, from everlasting to everlasting.
11 [BELONG] TO YOU O YAHWEH THE GREATNESS AND THE STRENGTH AND THE SPLENDOR AND THE EMINENCE AND THE MAJESTY FOR EVERYTHING IN THE HEAVENS AND ON THE EARTH [BELONGS] TO YOU O YAHWEH THE KINGDOM AND THE [ONE WHO] RAISES HIMSELF TO ALL TO HEAD
11 Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the splendor and the majesty, for everything in heaven and on earth belongs to You.
Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom, and You are exalted as head over all.
12 AND <THE> WEALTH AND <THE> HONOR [ARE] FROM <TO> BEFORE YOU AND YOU [ARE] RULING OVER <THE> EVERYTHING AND [ARE] IN HAND YOUR POWER AND STRENGTH AND [ARE] IN HAND YOUR TO MAKE GREAT AND TO MAKE STRONG <TO> <THE> EVERYONE
12 Both riches and honor come from You, and You are the ruler over all. In Your hands are power and might to exalt and give strength to all.
13 AND THEREFORE O GOD OUR [ARE] GIVING THANKS WE TO YOU AND [ARE] PRAISING <TO> [THE] NAME OF SPLENDOR YOUR
13 Now therefore, our God, we give You thanks, and we praise Your glorious name.
14 AND THAT WHO? [AM] I AND WHO? [IS] PEOPLE MY THAT WE WILL RETAIN STRENGTH TO MAKE A CONTRIBUTION LIKE THIS FOR [IS] FROM YOU <THE> EVERYTHING AND FROM HAND YOUR WE HAVE GIVEN TO YOU
14 But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? For everything comes from You, and from Your own hand we have given to You.
15 FOR [ARE] SOJOURNERS WE <TO> BEFORE YOU AND RESIDENT ALIENS LIKE ALL ANCESTORS OUR [ARE] LIKE <THE> SHADOW DAYS OUR ON THE EARTH AND THERE NOT [IS] HOPE
15 For we are foreigners and strangers in Your presence, as were all our forefathers. Our days on earth are like a shadow, without hope.
16 O YAHWEH GOD OUR ALL THE ABUNDANCE <THE> THIS WHICH WE HAVE PREPARED TO BUILD FOR YOU A HOUSE FOR [THE] NAME OF HOLINESS YOUR [IS] FROM HAND YOUR IT AND [BELONGS] TO YOU <THE> EVERYTHING
16 O LORD our God, from Your hand comes all this abundance that we have provided to build You a house for Your holy Name, and all of it belongs to You.
17 AND I KNOW O GOD MY THAT YOU [ARE] TESTING [THE] HEART AND UPRIGHTNESS<ES> YOU ARE PLEASED WITH I IN [THE] UPRIGHTNESS OF HEART MY I HAVE MADE A CONTRIBUTION ALL THESE [THINGS] AND NOW PEOPLE YOUR WHO ARE FOUND HERE I HAVE SEEN WITH JOY TO MAKE A CONTRIBUTION TO YOU
17 I know, my God, that You test the heart and delight in uprightness. All these things I have given willingly and with an upright heart, and now I have seen Your people who are present here giving joyfully and willingly to You.
18 O YAHWEH [THE] GOD OF ABRAHAM ISAAC AND ISRAEL ANCESTORS OUR KEEP ! THIS FOR EVER <TO> [THE] INCLINATION OF [THE] THOUGHTS OF [THE] HEART OF PEOPLE YOUR AND DIRECT HEART THEIR TO YOURSELF
18 O LORD, God of our fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, keep this desire forever in the intentions of the hearts of Your people, and direct their hearts toward You.
19 AND TO SOLOMON SON MY GIVE A HEART COMPLETE TO KEEP COMMANDMENTS YOUR TESTIMONIES YOUR AND DECREES YOUR AND TO DO <THE> EVERYTHING AND TO BUILD THE TEMPLE WHICH I HAVE PREPARED
19 And give my son Solomon a whole heart to keep and carry out all Your commandments, decrees, and statutes, and to build Your palace for which I have made provision.”
20 AND HE SAID DAVID TO ALL THE ASSEMBLY BLESS PLEASE <OBJ.> YAHWEH GOD YOUR AND THEY BLESSED ALL THE ASSEMBLY <TO> YAHWEH [THE] GOD OF ANCESTORS THEIR AND THEY BOWED LOW AND THEY BOWED DOWN TO YAHWEH AND TO THE KING
20 Then David said to the whole assembly, “Bless the LORD your God.”
So the whole assembly blessed the LORD, the God of their fathers. They bowed down and paid homage to the LORD and to the king.
21 AND THEY SACRIFICED TO YAHWEH SACRIFICES AND THEY OFFERED UP BURNT OFFERINGS TO YAHWEH TO [THE] NEXT DAY OF THE DAY <THE> THAT YOUNG BULLS ONE THOUSAND RAMS ONE THOUSAND LAMBS ONE THOUSAND AND DRINK OFFERINGS THEIR AND SACRIFICES TO ABUNDANCE FOR ALL ISRAEL
Solomon Anointed King
(1 Kings 1:32–40 )
21 The next day they offered sacrifices and presented burnt offerings to the LORD: a thousand bulls, a thousand rams, and a thousand lambs, along with their drink offerings, and other sacrifices in abundance for all Israel.
22 AND THEY ATE AND THEY DRANK <TO> BEFORE YAHWEH ON THE DAY <THE> THAT WITH JOY GREAT AND THEY MADE KING A SECOND [TIME] <TO> SOLOMON [THE] SON OF DAVID AND THEY ANOINTED [HIM] TO YAHWEH TO RULER AND <TO> ZADOK TO PRIEST
22 That day they ate and drank with great joy in the presence of the LORD.
Then, for a second time, they designated David’s son Solomon as king, anointing him before the LORD as ruler, and Zadok as the priest.
23 AND HE SAT SOLOMON ON [THE] THRONE OF YAHWEH TO KING IN PLACE OF DAVID FATHER HIS AND HE WAS SUCCESSFUL AND THEY LISTENED TO HIM ALL ISRAEL
23 So Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king in place of his father David. He prospered, and all Israel obeyed him.
24 AND ALL THE OFFICIALS AND THE MIGHTY [MEN] AND ALSO ALL [THE] SONS OF THE KING DAVID THEY GAVE A HAND UNDER SOLOMON THE KING
24 All the officials and mighty men, as well as all of King David’s sons, pledged their allegiance to King Solomon.
25 AND HE MADE GREAT YAHWEH <OBJ.> SOLOMON <TO> UPWARDS <TOWARDS> TO [THE] EYES OF ALL ISRAEL AND HE PUT ON HIM MAJESTY OF ROYALTY WHICH NOT IT HAD BEEN ON ANY KING <TO> BEFORE HIM OVER ISRAEL
25 The LORD highly exalted Solomon in the sight of all Israel and bestowed on him royal majesty such as had not been bestowed on any king in Israel before him.
26 AND DAVID [THE] SON OF JESSE HE REIGNED OVER ALL ISRAEL
David’s Reign and Death
(1 Kings 2:10–12 )
26 David son of Jesse was king over all Israel.
27 AND THE DAYS WHICH HE REIGNED OVER ISRAEL [WERE] FORTY YEAR[S] IN HEBRON HE REIGNED SEVEN YEARS AND IN JERUSALEM HE REIGNED THIRTY AND THREE [YEARS]
27 The length of David’s reign over Israel was forty years— seven years in Hebron and thirty-three years in Jerusalem.
28 AND HE DIED IN OLD AGE GOOD SATISFIED OF DAYS WEALTH AND HONOR AND HE REIGNED SOLOMON SON HIS IN PLACE OF HIM
28 He died at a ripe old age, full of years, riches, and honor, and his son Solomon reigned in his place.
29 AND [THE] MATTERS OF DAVID THE KING <THE> FORMER AND <THE> LATTER THERE THEY [ARE] WRITTEN ON [THE] WORDS OF SAMUEL THE SEER AND ON [THE] WORDS OF NATHAN THE PROPHET AND ON [THE] WORDS OF GAD THE SEER
29 Now the acts of King David, from first to last, are indeed written in the Chronicles of Samuel the Seer, the Chronicles of Nathan the Prophet, and the Chronicles of Gad the Seer,
30 WITH ALL KINGDOM HIS AND MIGHT HIS AND THE TIMES WHICH THEY PASSED OVER HIM AND OVER ISRAEL AND OVER ALL [THE] KINGDOMS OF THE LANDS
30 together with all the details of his reign, his might, and the circumstances that came upon him and Israel and all the kingdoms of the lands.
