24AND THE [ONE] KEEPING THE COMMANDMENTS OF HIM IN HIM ABIDES, AND HE IN HIM. AND BY THIS WE KNOW THAT HE ABIDES IN US, BY THE SPIRIT WHOM TO US HE HAS GIVEN. 24Whoever keeps His commandments remains in God, and God in him. And by this we know that He remains in us: by the Spirit He has given us.
1BELOVED, NOT EVERY SPIRIT DO BELIEVE BUT DO TEST THE SPIRITS WHETHER OF <THE> GOD THEY ARE, BECAUSE MANY FALSE PROPHETS HAVE GONE OUT INTO THE WORLD. Testing the Spirits 1Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God. For many false prophets have gone out into the world.
2BY THIS YOU KNOW THE SPIRIT <THE> OF GOD: EVERY SPIRIT THAT CONFESSES JESUS CHRIST IN [THE] FLESH HAVING COME OF <THE> GOD IS. 2By this you will know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,
3AND ANY SPIRIT THAT NOT CONFESSES <THE> JESUS CHRIST IN FLESH HAVING COME FROM <THE> GOD NOT IS; AND THIS IS THAT OF THE ANTICHRIST WHICH YOU HAVE HEARD THAT IS COMING AND NOW IN THE WORLD IS ALREADY. 3and every spirit that does not confess Jesus*NoteCloseBYZ and TR that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and which is already in the world at this time.
4YOU YOURSELVES FROM <THE> GOD ARE, LITTLE CHILDREN, AND HAVE OVERCOME THEM, BECAUSE GREATER IS THE [ONE] IN YOU THAN THE [ONE] IN THE WORLD. 4You, little children, are from God and have overcome them, because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.
5THEY THEMSELVES OF THE WORLD ARE; BECAUSE OF THIS FROM OUT OF THE WORLD THEY SPEAK AND THE WORLD TO THEM LISTENS. 5They are of the world. That is why they speak from the world’s perspective, and the world listens to them.
6WE OURSELVES OF <THE> GOD ARE; THE [ONE] KNOWING <THE> GOD LISTENS TO US; HE WHO NOT IS FROM <THE> GOD NOT LISTENS TO US. BY THIS WE KNOW THE SPIRIT <THE> OF TRUTH AND THE SPIRIT <THE> OF FALSEHOOD. 6We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. That is how we know the Spirit*NoteCloseOr spirit of truth and the spirit of deception.
7BELOVED, WE MAY LOVE ONE ANOTHER, BECAUSE <THE> LOVE FROM <THE> GOD IS AND EVERYONE WHO IS LOVING FROM <THE> GOD HAS BEEN BORN AND KNOWS <THE> GOD; Love Comes from God 7Beloved, let us love one another, because love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.
8THE [ONE] NOT LOVING NOT HAS KNOWN <THE> GOD, BECAUSE <THE> GOD LOVE IS. 8Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
9IN THIS HAS BEEN REVEALED THE LOVE <THE> OF GOD AMONG US, THAT THE SON OF HIM THE ONE AND ONLY HAS SENT <THE> GOD INTO THE WORLD SO THAT WE MAY LIVE THROUGH HIM. 9This is how God’s love was revealed among us God sent His one and only*NoteCloseOr only begotten or unique Son into the world, so that we might live through Him.
10IN THIS IS <THE> LOVE, NOT THAT WE OURSELVES HAVE LOVED <THE> GOD, BUT THAT HE HIMSELF LOVED US AND HE SENT THE SON OF HIM [AS] A PROPITIATION FOR THE SINS OF US. 10And love consists in this: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as the atoning sacrifice*NoteCloseOr as a propitiation for our sins.
11BELOVED, IF SO <THE> GOD LOVED US, ALSO WE OURSELVES OUGHT ONE ANOTHER TO LOVE; 11Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
12GOD NO [ONE] AT ANY TIME HAS SEEN; IF WE SHALL LOVE ONE ANOTHER, <THE> GOD IN US ABIDES AND THE LOVE OF HIM IN US PERFECTED IS. 12No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God remains in us, and His love is perfected in us.
13BY THIS WE KNOW THAT IN HIM WE ABIDE AND HE IN US, BECAUSE FROM OUT THE SPIRIT OF HIM HE HAS GIVEN TO US. 13By this we know that we remain in Him, and He in us: He has given us of His Spirit.
14AND WE OURSELVES HAVE SEEN AND TESTIFY THAT THE FATHER HAS SENT THE SON [AS] SAVIOR OF THE WORLD. 14And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent His Son to be the Savior of the world.
15WHO[EVER] MAYBE SHALL CONFESS THAT JESUS CHRIST IS THE SON <THE> OF GOD, <THE> GOD IN HIM ABIDES AND HE IN <THE> GOD. 15If anyone confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.
16AND WE OURSELVES HAVE COME TO KNOW AND WE HAVE COME TO BELIEVE THE LOVE THAT HAS <THE> GOD AS TO US. <THE> GOD LOVE IS, AND THE [ONE] ABIDING IN <THE> LOVE IN <THE> GOD ABIDES, AND <THE> GOD IN HIM ABIDES. 16And we have come to know and believe the love that God has for us. God is love; whoever abides in love abides in God, and God in him.
17IN THIS HAS BEEN PERFECTED <THE> LOVE WITH US, SO THAT CONFIDENCE WE MAY HAVE IN THE DAY <THE> OF JUDGMENT, THAT EVEN AS HE IS ALSO WE OURSELVES ARE IN <THE> WORLD THIS. 17In this way, love has been perfected among us, so that we may have confidence on the day of judgment; for in this world we are just like Him.
18FEAR NO THERE IS IN <THE> LOVE, BUT <THE> PERFECT LOVE OUT CASTS <THE> FEAR, BECAUSE THE FEAR PUNISHMENT HAS; THE [ONE] NOW FEARING NOT HAS BEEN PERFECTED IN <THE> LOVE. 18There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment. The one who fears has not been perfected in love.
19WE OURSELVES LOVE HIM BECAUSE HE HIMSELF FIRST LOVED US. 19We love*NoteCloseBYZ and TR We love Him because He first loved us.
20IF ANYONE SHALL SAY THAT I LOVE <THE> GOD AND THE BROTHER OF HIM MAY HATE, A LIAR HE IS; THE [ONE] FOR NOT LOVING THE BROTHER OF HIM WHOM HE HAS SEEN, <THE> GOD WHOM NOT HE HAS SEEN NOT IS HE ABLE TO LOVE; 20If anyone says, “I love God, ” but hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.
21AND THIS THE COMMANDMENT WE HAVE FROM HIM, THAT THE [ONE] LOVING <THE> GOD MAY LOVE ALSO THE BROTHER OF HIM. 21And we have this commandment from Him: Whoever loves God must love his brother as well.
