1 AND THEY MADE KING [THE] INHABITANTS OF JERUSALEM <OBJ.> AHAZIAH SON HIS <THE> YOUNG IN PLACE OF HIM FOR ALL THE FORMER [SONS] IT HAD KILLED THE MARAUDING BAND WHICH CAME WITH THE ARABS TO THE CAMP AND HE BECAME KING AHAZIAH [THE] SON OF JEHORAM [THE] KING OF JUDAH
Ahaziah Reigns in Judah
(2 Kings 8:25–29 )
1 Then the people of Jerusalem made Ahaziah, the youngest son of Jehoram, king in his place, since the raiders who had come into the camp with the Arabs had killed all the older sons. So Ahaziah son of Jehoram became king of Judah.
2 [WAS] A SON OF FORTY AND TWO YEAR[S] AHAZIAH WHEN BECAME KING HE AND A YEAR ONE HE REIGNED IN JERUSALEM AND [THE] NAME OF MOTHER HIS [WAS] ATHALIAH [THE] DAUGHTER OF OMRI
2 Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem one year. His mother’s name was Athaliah, the granddaughter of Omri.
3 ALSO HE HE WALKED IN [THE] WAYS OF [THE] HOUSE OF AHAB FOR MOTHER HIS SHE WAS [FEMALE] COUNSELOR HIS TO ACT WICKEDLY
3 Ahaziah also walked in the ways of the house of Ahab, for his mother was his counselor in wickedness.
4 AND HE DID THE EVIL IN [THE] EYES OF YAHWEH LIKE [THE] HOUSE OF AHAB FOR THEY THEY WERE OF HIM COUNSELORS AFTER [THE] DEATH OF FATHER HIS TO DESTRUCTION OF HIM
4 And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, as the house of Ahab had done, for to his destruction they were his counselors after the death of his father.
5 ALSO IN COUNSEL THEIR HE WALKED AND HE WENT WITH JEHORAM [THE] SON OF AHAB [THE] KING OF ISRAEL TO <THE> WAR ON HAZAEL [THE] KING OF ARAM AT RAMOTH GILEAD AND THEY WOUNDED THE ARAMEANS <OBJ.> JORAM
5 Ahaziah also followed their counsel and went with Joram son of Ahab king of Israel to fight against Hazael king of Aram at Ramoth-gilead. But the Arameans wounded Joram.
6 AND HE RETURNED TO GET HIMSELF HEALED IN JEZREEL FOR THE WOUNDS WHICH THEY HAD WOUNDED HIM AT <THE> RAMAH WHEN FOUGHT HE WITH HAZAEL [THE] KING OF ARAM AND AZARIAH [THE] SON OF JEHORAM [THE] KING OF JUDAH HE WENT DOWN TO SEE <OBJ.> JEHORAM [THE] SON OF AHAB IN JEZREEL FOR [WAS] BEING ILL HE
6 So he returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds they had inflicted on him at Ramah when he fought against Hazael king of Aram. Then Ahaziah son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to Jezreel to visit Joram son of Ahab, because Joram had been wounded.
7 AND FROM GOD IT WAS [THE] DOWNFALL OF AHAZIAH BY GOING TO JORAM AND WHEN WENT HE HE WENT OUT WITH JEHORAM TO JEHU [THE] SON OF NIMSHI WHOM HE HAD ANOINTED HIM YAHWEH TO CUT OFF <OBJ.> [THE] HOUSE OF AHAB
7 Ahaziah’s downfall came from God when he went to visit Joram. When Ahaziah arrived, he went out with Joram to meet Jehu son of Nimshi, whom the LORD had anointed to destroy the house of Ahab.
8 AND IT WAS WHEN ENTERED INTO JUDGMENT JEHU WITH [THE] HOUSE OF AHAB AND HE FOUND <OBJ.> [THE] OFFICIALS OF JUDAH AND [THE] SONS OF [THE] BROTHERS OF AHAZIAH SERVING <TO> AHAZIAH AND HE KILLED THEM
Jehu Kills the Princes of Judah
(2 Kings 9:14–29 )
8 So while Jehu was executing judgment on the house of Ahab, he found the rulers of Judah and the sons of Ahaziah’s brothers who were serving Ahaziah, and he killed them.
9 AND HE SOUGHT TO FIND <OBJ.> AHAZIAH AND PEOPLE CAPTURED HIM AND HE [WAS] HIDING HIMSELF IN SAMARIA AND THEY BROUGHT HIM TO JEHU AND THEY PUT TO DEATH HIM AND THEY BURIED HIM FOR THEY SAID [WAS] [THE] SON OF JEHOSHAPHAT HE WHO HE SOUGHT <OBJ.> YAHWEH WITH ALL HEART HIS AND NOT FOR [THE] HOUSE OF AHAZIAH TO RETAIN STRENGTH FOR KINGSHIP
9 Then Jehu looked for Ahaziah, and Jehu’s soldiers captured him while he was hiding in Samaria. So Ahaziah was brought to Jehu and put to death. They buried him, for they said, “He is the grandson of Jehoshaphat, who sought the LORD with all his heart.”
So no one was left from the house of Ahaziah with the strength to rule the kingdom.
10 AND ATHALIAH [THE] MOTHER OF AHAZIAH SHE SAW THAT HE WAS DEAD SON HER AND SHE AROSE AND SHE DESTROYED <OBJ.> ALL [THE] OFFSPRING OF <THE> ROYALTY OF [THE] HOUSE OF JUDAH
Athaliah and Joash
(2 Kings 11:1–3 )
10 When Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she proceeded to annihilate all the royal heirs of the house of Judah.
11 AND SHE TOOK JEHOSHABEATH [THE] DAUGHTER OF THE KING <OBJ.> JOASH [THE] SON OF AHAZIAH AND SHE STOLE <OBJ.> HIM FROM AMONG [THE] SONS OF THE KING WHO WERE BEING PUT TO DEATH AND SHE PUT <OBJ.> HIM AND <OBJ.> SUCKLING-NURSE HIS IN [THE] CHAMBER OF THE BEDS AND SHE HID HIM JEHOSHABEATH [THE] DAUGHTER OF THE KING JEHORAM [THE] WIFE OF JEHOIADA THE PRIEST FOR SHE SHE WAS [THE] SISTER OF AHAZIAH FROM BEFORE ATHALIAH AND NOT SHE KILLED HIM
11 But Jehoshabeath daughter of King Jehoram took Joash son of Ahaziah and stole him away from among the sons of the king who were being murdered, and she put him and his nurse in a bedroom. Because Jehoshabeath, the daughter of King Jehoram and the wife of Jehoiada the priest, was Ahaziah’s sister, she hid Joash from Athaliah so that she could not kill him.
12 AND HE WAS WITH THEM IN [THE] HOUSE OF <THE> GOD HIDING SIX YEARS AND ATHALIAH [WAS] REIGNING OVER THE LAND
12 And Joash remained hidden with them in the house of God for six years while Athaliah ruled the land.
