Solomon’s Additional Achievements
(1 Kings 9:10–28 )
1 Now at the end of the twenty years during which Solomon had built the house of the LORD and his own palace,
2 AND THE CITIES WHICH HE HAD GIVEN HURAM TO SOLOMON HE REBUILT SOLOMON <OBJ.> THEM AND HE CAUSED TO DWELL THERE <OBJ.> [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL
2 Solomon rebuilt the cities Hiram had given him and settled Israelites there.
3 AND HE WENT SOLOMON TO HAMATH ZOBAH AND HE PREVAILED OVER IT
3 Then Solomon went to Hamath-zobah and captured it.
4 AND HE BUILT <OBJ.> TADMOR IN THE WILDERNESS AND <OBJ.> ALL [THE] CITIES OF <THE> STORAGE WHICH HE BUILT IN HAMATH
4 He built Tadmor in the wilderness, in addition to all the store cities that he had built in Hamath.
5 AND HE BUILT <OBJ.> BETH HORON <THE> UPPER AND <OBJ.> BETH HORON <THE> LOWER CITIES OF FORTIFICATION WALLS DOORS AND BAR[S]
5 He rebuilt Upper and Lower Beth-horon as fortified cities with walls, gates, and bars,
6 AND <OBJ.> BAALATH AND <OBJ.> ALL [THE] CITIES OF <THE> STORAGE WHICH THEY BELONGED TO SOLOMON AND <OBJ.> ALL [THE] CITIES OF <THE> CHARIOTRY AND <OBJ.> [THE] CITIES OF THE HORSEMEN AND <OBJ.> ALL [THE] DESIRE OF SOLOMON WHICH HE DESIRED TO BUILD IN JERUSALEM AND IN <THE> LEBANON AND IN ALL [THE] LAND OF DOMINION HIS
6 as well as Baalath, all the store cities that belonged to Solomon, and all the cities for his chariots and horses whatever he desired to build in Jerusalem, Lebanon, and throughout the land of his dominion.
7 ALL THE PEOPLE WHICH REMAINED OF THE HITTITE[S] AND THE AMORITE[S] AND THE PERIZZITE[S] AND THE HIVITE[S] AND THE JEBUSITE[S] WHICH NOT [WERE] FROM ISRAEL THEY
7 As for all the people who remained of the Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites (these people were not Israelites
8 SOME OF DESCENDANTS THEIR WHO THEY REMAINED AFTER THEM IN THE LAND WHOM NOT THEY HAD DESTROYED THEM [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL AND HE BROUGHT UP THEM SOLOMON TO FORCED LABOR UNTIL THE DAY <THE> THIS
8 their descendants who remained in the land those whom the Israelites had not destroyed— Solomon conscripted these people to be forced laborers, as they are to this day.
9 AND OF [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL WHOM NOT HE MADE SOLOMON INTO SLAVES FOR WORK HIS FOR THEY [WERE] MEN OF WAR AND [THE] COMMANDERS OF OFFICERS HIS AND [THE] COMMANDERS OF CHARIOTRY HIS AND HORSEMEN HIS
9 But Solomon did not consign any of the Israelites to slave labor, because they were his men of war, the leaders of his captains, and the commanders of his chariots and cavalry.
10 AND THESE [WERE] [THE] COMMANDERS OF THE OVERSEERS WHO [BELONGED] TO THE KING SOLOMON FIFTY AND TWO HUNDRED WHO RULED OVER THE PEOPLE
10 They were also the chief officers for King Solomon: 250 supervisors.
11 AND <OBJ.> [THE] DAUGHTER OF PHARAOH HE BROUGHT UP SOLOMON FROM [THE] CITY OF DAVID TO THE HOUSE WHICH HE HAD BUILT FOR HER FOR HE SAID NOT SHE WILL DWELL A WIFE OF ME IN [THE] HOUSE OF DAVID [THE] KING OF ISRAEL FOR [ARE] HOLINESS THEY [PLACES] WHERE IT HAS COME TO THEM [THE] ARK OF YAHWEH
11 Solomon brought the daughter of Pharaoh up from the City of David to the palace he had built for her. For he said, “My wife must not live in the house of David king of Israel, because the places the ark of the LORD has entered are holy.”
12 THEN HE OFFERED UP SOLOMON BURNT OFFERINGS TO YAHWEH ON [THE] ALTAR OF YAHWEH WHICH HE HAD BUILT <TO> BEFORE THE PORCH
12 At that time Solomon offered burnt offerings to the LORD on the altar of the LORD he had built in front of the portico.
13 AND <IN> A MATTER OF A DAY IN A DAY TO OFFER UP ACCORDING TO [THE] COMMANDMENT OF MOSES FOR THE SABBATHS AND FOR THE NEW MOONS AND FOR THE APPOINTED TIMES THREE TIMES IN THE YEAR AT [THE] FESTIVAL OF THE UNLEAVENED BREAD<S> AND AT [THE] FESTIVAL OF THE WEEKS AND AT [THE] FESTIVAL OF <THE> BOOTHS
13 He observed the daily requirement for offerings according to the commandment of Moses for Sabbaths, New Moons, and the three annual appointed feasts— the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the Feast of Weeks, and the Feast of Tabernacles.
14 AND HE APPOINTED ACCORDING TO [THE] ORDINANCE OF DAVID FATHER HIS <OBJ.> [THE] DIVISIONS OF THE PRIESTS ON SERVICE THEIR AND THE LEVITES ON DUTIES THEIR TO PRAISE AND TO SERVE BEFORE THE PRIESTS TO [THE] MATTER OF A DAY IN DAY ITS AND THE GATEKEEPERS BY DIVISIONS THEIR FOR A GATE AND A GATE FOR [WAS] THUS [THE] COMMANDMENT OF DAVID [THE] MAN OF <THE> GOD
14 In keeping with the ordinances of his father David, Solomon appointed the divisions of the priests over their service, and the Levites for their duties to offer praise and to minister before the priests according to the daily requirement. He also appointed gatekeepers by their divisions at each gate, for this had been the command of David, the man of God.
15 AND NOT THEY TURNED ASIDE [THE] COMMAND OF THE KING ON THE PRIESTS AND THE LEVITES TO ANY MATTER AND TO THE TREASURIES
15 They did not turn aside from the king’s command regarding the priests or the Levites in any matter, including that of the treasuries.
16 AND IT WAS ARRANGED ALL [THE] WORK OF SOLOMON UNTIL THE DAY OF [THE] FOUNDATION OF [THE] HOUSE OF YAHWEH AND UNTIL WAS COMPLETE IT [WAS] COMPLETE [THE] HOUSE OF YAHWEH
16 Thus all the work of Solomon was carried out, from the day the foundation was laid for the house of the LORD until it was finished. So the house of the LORD was completed.
17 THEN HE WENT SOLOMON TO EZION GEBER AND TO ELATH ON [THE] SHORE OF THE SEA IN [THE] LAND OF EDOM
17 Then Solomon went to Ezion-geber and to Eloth on the coast of Edom.
18 AND HE SENT TO HIM HURAM BY [THE] HAND OF SERVANTS HIS SHIPS AND SERVANTS [WHO] KNEW <OF> [THE] SEA AND THEY WENT WITH [THE] SERVANTS OF SOLOMON OPHIR TOWARDS AND THEY TOOK FROM THERE FOUR HUNDRED<S> AND FIFTY TALENT[S] OF GOLD AND THEY BROUGHT [IT] TO THE KING SOLOMON
18 So Hiram sent him ships captained by his servants, along with crews of experienced sailors. They went with Solomon’s servants to Ophir and acquired from there 450. talents of gold, which they delivered to King Solomon.
