She arrived in Jerusalem with a very large caravan— with camels bearing spices, gold in abundance, and precious stones. And she came to Solomon and spoke with him about all that was on her mind.
2AND HE TOLD TO HER SOLOMON <OBJ.> ALL WORDS HER AND NOT IT WAS CONCEALED A WORD FROM SOLOMON WHICH NOT HE TOLD TO HER 2And Solomon answered all her questions; nothing was too difficult for him to explain.
3AND SHE SAW [THE] QUEEN OF SHEBA <OBJ.> [THE] WISDOM OF SOLOMON AND THE HOUSE WHICH HE HAD BUILT 3When the queen of Sheba saw the wisdom of Solomon, the palace he had built,
4AND [THE] FOOD OF TABLE HIS AND [THE] SEATING OF SERVANTS HIS AND [THE] STANDING OF SERVANTS HIS AND CLOTHES THEIR AND CUP-BEARERS HIS AND CLOTHES THEIR AND UPPER ROOM HIS WHICH HE WENT UP [THE] HOUSE OF YAHWEH AND NOT IT WAS STILL IN HER BREATH 4the food at his table, the seating of his servants, the service and attire of his attendants, the attire of his cupbearers, and the burnt offerings he presented*NoteCloseLXX and Syriac (see also 1 Kings 10:5); Hebrew and his stairway by which he went up at the house of the LORD, it took her breath away.
5AND SHE SAID TO THE KING [WAS] TRUTH THE WORD WHICH I HEARD IN OWN LAND MY ON WORDS YOUR AND ON WISDOM YOUR 5She said to the king, “The report I heard in my own country about your words*NoteCloseOr your achievements and wisdom is true.
6AND NOT I BELIEVED <TO> WORDS THEIR UNTIL THAT I CAME AND THEY SAW EYES MY AND HERE! NOT IT WAS TOLD TO ME [THE] HALF OF [THE] GREATNESS OF WISDOM YOUR YOU HAVE ADDED TO THE REPORT WHICH I HEARD 6But I did not believe the reports until I came and saw with my own eyes. Indeed, not half of the greatness of your wisdom was told to me. You have far exceeded the report I heard.
7HOW BLESSED! [ARE] PEOPLE YOUR AND HOW BLESSED! [ARE] SERVANTS YOUR THESE WHO STAND <TO> BEFORE YOU CONTINUALLY AND [WHO] HEAR <OBJ.> WISDOM YOUR 7How blessed are your men! How blessed are these servants of yours who stand continually before you and hear your wisdom!
8MAY HE BE YAHWEH GOD YOUR BLESSED WHO HE HAS DELIGHTED IN YOU TO PUT YOU ON THRONE HIS TO KING FOR YAHWEH GOD YOUR BECAUSE LOVES GOD YOUR <OBJ.> ISRAEL TO MAKE STAND IT FOR EVER AND HE HAS APPOINTED YOU OVER THEM TO KING TO DO JUSTICE AND RIGHTEOUSNESS 8Blessed be the LORD your God, who has delighted in you to set you on His throne to be king for the LORD your God. Because your God loved Israel enough to establish them forever, He has made you king over them to carry out justice and righteousness.”
9AND SHE GAVE TO THE KING ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY TALENT[S] OF GOLD AND SPICES TO ABUNDANCE EXCEEDINGLY AND STONE[S] PRECIOUS AND NOT IT HAS BEEN LIKE THE SPICE <THE> THAT WHICH SHE GAVE [THE] QUEEN OF SHEBA TO THE KING SOLOMON 9Then she gave the king 120 talents of gold,*NoteClose120 talents is approximately 4.52 tons or 4.1 metric tons of gold. a great quantity of spices, and precious stones. There had never been such spices as those the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.

11AND HE MADE THE KING <OBJ.> [THE] WOOD<S> OF THE ALGUM<S> TRACKS FOR [THE] HOUSE OF YAHWEH AND FOR [THE] HOUSE OF THE KING AND HARPS AND LYRES FOR THE SINGERS AND NOT THEY HAD BEEN SEEN LIKE THEM <TO> BEFORE IN [THE] LAND OF JUDAH 11The king made the algum wood into steps*NoteCloseOr gateways for the house of the LORD and for the king’s palace, and into lyres and harps for the singers. Never before had anything like them been seen in the land of Judah.)
12AND THE KING SOLOMON HE GAVE TO [THE] QUEEN OF SHEBA <OBJ.> ALL DESIRE HER WHICH SHE ASKED <FROM> <TO> BESIDES [THAT] WHICH SHE HAD BROUGHT TO THE KING AND SHE TURNED AND SHE WENT TO OWN LAND HER SHE AND SERVANTS HER 12King Solomon gave the queen of Sheba all she desired— whatever she asked— far more than she had brought the king. Then she left and returned to her own country, along with her servants.
13AND IT WAS [THE] WEIGHT OF THE GOLD WHICH IT CAME TO SOLOMON IN A YEAR ONE SIX HUNDRED<S> AND SIXTY AND SIX TALENTS OF GOLD Solomon’s Wealth and Splendor (1 Kings 10:14–29) 13The weight of gold that came to Solomon each year was 666 talents*NoteClose666 talents is approximately 25.1 tons or 22.8 metric tons of gold.

16AND THREE HUNDRED<S> SHIELDS GOLD BEATEN THREE HUNDRED<S> GOLD HE PUT UP ON THE SHIELD <THE> ONE AND HE PUT THEM THE KING IN [THE] HOUSE OF [THE] FOREST OF <THE> LEBANON 16He also made three hundred small shields of hammered gold; three hundred shekels of gold*NoteClose300 shekels is approximately 7.5 pounds or 3.4 kilograms of gold. went into each shield. And the king put them in the House of the Forest of Lebanon.
17AND HE MADE THE KING A THRONE OF IVORY GREAT AND HE OVERLAID IT GOLD PURE 17Additionally, the king made a great throne of ivory and overlaid it with pure gold.
18AND SIX STEPS [BELONGED] TO THE THRONE AND A FOOTSTOOL IN <THE> GOLD TO THE THRONE [WERE] ATTACHED AND HANDS FROM THIS AND FROM THIS [WERE] ON [THE] PLACE OF THE SITTING AND TWO LIONS [WERE] STANDING BESIDE THE HANDS 18The throne had six steps, and a footstool of gold was attached to it. There were armrests on both sides of the seat with a lion standing beside each armrest.
19AND TWO [PLUS] TEN LIONS [WERE] STANDING THERE ON [THE] SIX THE STEPS FROM THIS AND FROM THIS NOT IT HAD BEEN MADE THUS FOR ANY KINGDOM 19Twelve lions stood on the six steps, one at either end of each step. Nothing like this had ever been made for any kingdom.
20AND ALL [THE] VESSELS OF [THE] DRINK OF THE KING SOLOMON [WERE] GOLD AND ALL [THE] UTENSILS OF [THE] HOUSE OF [THE] FOREST OF <THE> LEBANON [WERE] GOLD PURE GOLD NOT SILVER [WAS] ESTEEMED IN [THE] DAYS OF SOLOMON TO ANYTHING 20All King Solomon’s drinking cups were gold, and all the utensils of the House of the Forest of Lebanon were pure gold. There was no silver, because it was accounted as nothing in the days of Solomon.
21FOR SHIPS OF THE KING [WERE] GOING TARSHISH WITH [THE] SERVANTS OF HURAM ONE [TIME] TO THREE YEARS THEY CAME SHIPS OF TARSHISH CARRYING GOLD AND SILVER IVORI<ES> AND MONKEYS AND APES 21For the king had the ships of Tarshish*NoteCloseOr a fleet of trading ships; twice in this verse that went with Hiram’s*NoteCloseHebrew Huram’s, a variant of Hiram’s servants, and once every three years the ships of Tarshish would arrive bearing gold, silver, ivory, apes, and peacocks.*NoteCloseOr baboons
22AND HE BECAME GREAT THE KING SOLOMON MORE THAN ALL [THE] KINGS OF THE EARTH TO WEALTH AND WISDOM 22So King Solomon surpassed all the kings of the earth in riches and wisdom.
23AND ALL [THE] KINGS OF THE EARTH [WERE] SEEKING <OBJ.> [THE] FACE OF SOLOMON TO HEAR <OBJ.> WISDOM HIS WHICH HE HAD PUT <THE> GOD IN HEART HIS 23All the kings of the earth sought an audience with Solomon to hear the wisdom that God had put in his heart.
24AND THEY [WERE] BRINGING EVERYONE GIFT HIS ARTICLES OF SILVER AND ARTICLES OF GOLD AND GARMENTS WEAPONRY AND SPICES HORSES AND MULES [THE] MATTER OF A YEAR IN A YEAR 24Year after year, each visitor would bring his tribute: articles of silver and gold, clothing, weapons, spices, horses, and mules.
25AND IT BELONGED TO SOLOMON FOUR THOUSAND<S> STALLS OF HORSES AND CHARIOTS AND TWO [PLUS] TEN THOUSAND HORSEMEN AND HE PLACED THEM IN [THE] CITIES OF <THE> CHARIOTRY AND WITH THE KING IN JERUSALEM 25Solomon had 4,000. stalls for horses and chariots, and 12,000 horses,*NoteCloseOr horsemen or charioteers which he stationed in the chariot cities and also with him in Jerusalem.
26AND HE WAS RULING OVER ALL THE KINGS FROM THE RIVER AND TO [THE] LAND OF [THE] PHILISTINES AND TO [THE] BORDER OF EGYPT 26He reigned over all the kings from the Euphrates*NoteCloseHebrew the River to the land of the Philistines, as far as the border of Egypt.
27AND HE MADE THE KING <OBJ.> <THE> SILVER IN JERUSALEM LIKE <THE> STONES AND <OBJ.> <THE> CEDARS HE MADE LIKE THE SYCAMORES WHICH [ARE] IN THE SHEPHELAH FOR ABUNDANCE 27The king made silver as common in Jerusalem as stones, and cedar as abundant as sycamore in the foothills.*NoteCloseHebrew Shephelah or lowlands; that is, the western foothills of Judea
28AND [WERE] BROUGHT OUT HORSES FROM EGYPT FOR SOLOMON AND FROM ALL THE LANDS 28Solomon’s horses were imported from Egypt and from all the lands.
29AND [THE] REST OF [THE] MATTERS OF SOLOMON <THE> FORMER AND <THE> LATTER ¿ NOT [ARE] THEY WRITTEN ON [THE] WORDS OF NATHAN THE PROPHET AND ON [THE] PROPHECY OF AHIJAH THE SHILONITE AND IN [THE] VISIONS IDDO THE SEER ON JEROBOAM [THE] SON OF NEBAT The Death of Solomon (1 Kings 11:41–43) 29As for the rest of the acts of Solomon, from beginning to end, are they not written in the Records of Nathan the Prophet, in the Prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite, and in the Visions of Iddo the Seer concerning Jeroboam son of Nebat?
30AND HE REIGNED SOLOMON IN JERUSALEM OVER ALL ISRAEL FORTY YEAR[S] 30Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel forty years.
31AND HE LAY DOWN SOLOMON WITH ANCESTORS HIS AND PEOPLE BURIED HIM IN [THE] CITY OF DAVID FATHER HIS AND HE BECAME KING REHOBOAM SON HIS IN PLACE OF HIM 31And Solomon rested with his fathers and was buried in the city of his father David. And his son Rehoboam reigned in his place.
