17AND HE PASSED ON MORDECAI AND HE DID ACCORDING TO ALL THAT SHE HAD COMMANDED TO HIM ESTHER 17So Mordecai went and did all that Esther had instructed him.
1AND IT WAS ON THE DAY <THE> THIRD AND SHE PUT ON ESTHER ROYALTY AND SHE STOOD IN [THE] COURT OF [THE] HOUSE OF THE KING <THE> INNER BEFORE [THE] HOUSE OF THE KING AND THE KING [WAS] SITTING ON [THE] THRONE OF ROYALTY HIS IN [THE] HOUSE OF <THE> ROYALTY BEFORE [THE] ENTRANCE OF THE HOUSE Esther Approaches the King 1On the third day, Esther put on her royal robes and stood in the inner court of the palace across from the king’s quarters. The king was sitting on his royal throne in the royal courtroom, facing the entrance.
2AND IT WAS WHEN SAW THE KING <OBJ.> ESTHER THE QUEEN STANDING IN THE COURT SHE BORE FAVOR IN VIEW HIS AND HE EXTENDED THE KING TO ESTHER <OBJ.> [THE] SCEPTER OF <THE> GOLD WHICH [WAS] IN HAND HIS AND SHE DREW NEAR ESTHER AND SHE TOUCHED <IN> [THE] TOP OF THE SCEPTER 2As soon as the king saw Queen Esther standing in the court, she found favor in his sight. The king extended the gold scepter in his hand toward Esther, and she approached and touched the tip of the scepter.
3AND HE SAID TO HER THE KING WHAT? [IS] TO YOU O ESTHER THE QUEEN AND WHAT? [IS] REQUEST YOUR UP TO <THE> HALF OF THE KINGDOM SO IT MAY BE GIVEN TO YOU 3“What is it, Queen Esther?” the king inquired “What is your request? Even up to half the kingdom, it will be given to you.”
4AND SHE SAID ESTHER IF [IS] ON THE KING GOOD LET HIM COME THE KING AND HAMAN THIS DAY TO THE FEAST WHICH I HAVE MADE FOR HIM 4“If it pleases the king,” Esther replied, “may the king and Haman come today to the banquet I have prepared for the king.”
5AND HE SAID THE KING BRING QUICKLY <OBJ.> HAMAN TO DO <OBJ.> [THE] WORD OF ESTHER AND HE CAME THE KING AND HAMAN TO THE FEAST WHICH SHE HAD MADE ESTHER 5“Hurry,” commanded the king, “and bring Haman, so we can do as Esther has requested.” So the king and Haman went to the banquet that Esther had prepared.
6AND HE SAID THE KING TO ESTHER AT [THE] FEAST OF <THE> WINE WHAT? [IS] PETITION YOUR SP IT MAY BE GIVEN TO YOU AND WHAT? [IS] REQUEST YOUR UP TO <THE> HALF OF THE KINGDOM AND IT MAY BE DONE 6And as they drank their wine, the king said to Esther, “What is your petition? It will be given to you. What is your request? Even up to half the kingdom, it will be fulfilled.”
7AND SHE ANSWERED ESTHER AND SHE SAID PETITION MY AND REQUEST MY 7Esther replied, “This is my petition and my request:
8IF I HAVE FOUND FAVOR IN [THE] EYES OF THE KING AND IF [IS] ON THE KING GOOD TO GRANT <OBJ.> PETITION MY AND TO DO <OBJ.> REQUEST MY LET HIM COME THE KING AND HAMAN TO THE FEAST WHICH I WILL MAKE FOR THEM AND TOMORROW I WILL DO ACCORDING TO [THE] WORD OF THE KING 8If I have found favor in the sight of the king, and if it pleases the king to grant my petition and fulfill my request, may the king and Haman come tomorrow to the banquet I will prepare for them. Then I will answer the king’s question.”
9AND HE WENT OUT HAMAN ON THE DAY <THE> THAT JOYFUL AND GOOD OF HEART AND JUST AS SAW HAMAN <OBJ.> MORDECAI AT [THE] GATE OF THE KING AND NOT HE STOOD UP AND NOT HE TREMBLED FROM HIM AND HE WAS FILLED HAMAN TOWARDS MORDECAI RAGE Haman’s Plot against Mordecai 9That day Haman went out full of joy and glad of heart. At the king’s gate, however, he saw Mordecai, who did not rise or tremble in fear at his presence. And Haman was filled with rage toward Mordecai.
10AND HE RESTRAINED HIMSELF HAMAN AND HE WENT TO HOUSE HIS AND HE SENT AND HE GATHERED <OBJ.> FRIENDS HIS AND <OBJ.> ZERESH WIFE HIS 10Nevertheless, Haman restrained himself and went home. And calling for his friends and his wife Zeresh,
11AND HE RECOUNTED TO THEM HAMAN <OBJ.> [ABOUT] [THE] SPLENDOR OF WEALTH HIS AND [THE] MULTITUDE OF SONS HIS AND <OBJ.> [ABOUT] ALL THAT HE HAD MADE GREAT HIM THE KING AND <OBJ.> THIS: HE HAD EXALTED HIM ABOVE THE OFFICIALS AND [THE] SERVANTS OF THE KING 11Haman recounted to them his glorious wealth, his many sons, and all the ways the king had honored and promoted him over the other officials and servants.
12AND HE SAID HAMAN ALSO NOT SHE LET COME [ANYONE] ESTHER THE QUEEN WITH THE KING TO THE FEAST WHICH SHE HAD PREPARED THAT EXCEPT <OBJ.> ME AND ALSO FOR TOMORROW I [AM] INVITED BY HER WITH THE KING 12“What is more,” Haman added, “Queen Esther invited no one but me to join the king at the banquet she prepared, and I am invited back tomorrow along with the king.
13AND ALL THIS NOT IT [IS] ADEQUATE FOR ME AT ANY TIME WHEN I [AM] SEEING <OBJ.> MORDECAI THE JEW SITTING AT [THE] GATE OF THE KING 13Yet none of this satisfies me as long as I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king’s gate.”
14AND SHE SAID TO HIM ZERESH WIFE HIS AND ALL FRIENDS HIS LET PEOPLE MAKE A GALLOWS HIGH FIFTY CUBIT[S] AND IN THE MORNING SPEAK TO THE KING SO PEOPLE MAY HANG <OBJ.> MORDECAI ON IT AND GO WITH THE KING TO THE FEAST JOYFUL AND IT WAS GOOD THE WORD <TO> BEFORE HAMAN AND HE MADE THE GALLOWS 14His wife Zeresh and all his friends told him, “Have them build a gallows fifty cubits high,*NoteClose50 cubits is approximately 75 feet or 22.9 meters high. and ask the king in the morning to have Mordecai hanged on it. Then go to the banquet with the king and enjoy yourself.” The advice pleased Haman, and he had the gallows constructed.
