33NOT THEY WILL DWELL IN LAND YOUR LEST THEY SHOULD CAUSE TO SIN <OBJ.> YOU TO <THE> ME FOR YOU WILL SERVE <OBJ.> GODS THEIR FOR IT WILL BECOME FOR <THE> YOU <INTO> A SNARE 33They must not remain in your land, lest they cause you to sin against Me. For if you serve their gods, it will surely be a snare to you.”
1AND TO MOSES HE SAID COME UP TO YAHWEH YOU AND AARON NADAB AND ABIHU AND SEVENTY OF [THE] ELDERS OF ISRAEL AND YOU WILL BOW DOWN FROM A DISTANCE The Covenant Sealed 1Then the LORD said to Moses, “Come up to the LORD— you and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of Israel’s elders— and you are to worship at a distance.
2AND HE WILL DRAW NEAR MOSES TO ONLY HIM TO YAHWEH AND THEY NOT THEY WILL DRAW NEAR AND THE PEOPLE NOT THEY WILL COME UP WITH HIM 2Moses alone shall approach the LORD, but the others must not come near. And the people may not go up with him.”
3AND HE WENT MOSES AND HE RECOUNTED TO THE PEOPLE <OBJ.> ALL [THE] WORDS OF YAHWEH AND <OBJ.> ALL THE JUDGMENTS AND IT ANSWERED ALL THE PEOPLE A VOICE ONE AND THEY SAID ALL THE WORDS WHICH HE HAS SPOKEN YAHWEH WE WILL DO 3When Moses came and told the people all the words and ordinances of the LORD, they all responded with one voice: “All the words that the LORD has spoken, we will do.”
4AND HE WROTE MOSES <OBJ.> ALL [THE] WORDS OF YAHWEH AND HE ROSE EARLY IN THE MORNING AND HE BUILT AN ALTAR UNDER THE MOUNTAIN AND TWO [PLUS] TEN PILLAR[S] FOR TWO [PLUS] TEN [THE] TRIBES OF ISRAEL 4And Moses wrote down all the words of the LORD. Early the next morning he got up and built an altar at the base of the mountain, along with twelve pillars for the twelve tribes of Israel.
5AND HE SENT <OBJ.> [THE] YOUNG MEN OF [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL AND THEY OFFERED UP BURNT OFFERINGS AND THEY SACRIFICED SACRIFICES PEACE OFFERINGS TO YAHWEH YOUNG BULLS 5Then he sent out some young men of Israel, and they offered burnt offerings and sacrificed young bulls as peace offerings to the LORD.
6AND HE TOOK MOSES <THE> HALF OF THE BLOOD AND HE PUT [IT] IN <THE> BOWLS AND [THE] HALF OF THE BLOOD HE SPRINKLED ON THE ALTAR 6Moses took half of the blood and put it in bowls, and the other half he splattered on the altar.
7AND HE TOOK [THE] BOOK OF THE COVENANT AND HE READ [IT] ALOUD IN [THE] EARS OF THE PEOPLE AND THEY SAID ALL THAT HE HAS SPOKEN YAHWEH WE WILL DO AND WE MAY OBEY 7Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read it to the people, who replied, “All that the LORD has spoken we will do, and we will be obedient.”
8AND HE TOOK MOSES <OBJ.> THE BLOOD AND HE SPRINKLED [IT] ON THE PEOPLE AND HE SAID HERE! [THE] BLOOD OF THE COVENANT WHICH HE HAS MADE YAHWEH WITH YOU ON ALL THE WORDS <THE> THESE 8So Moses took the blood, splattered it on the people, and said, “This is the blood of the covenant that the LORD has made with you in accordance with all these words.”*NoteCloseCited in Hebrews 9:20
9AND HE WENT UP MOSES AND AARON NADAB AND ABIHU AND SEVENTY OF [THE] ELDERS OF ISRAEL 9Then Moses went up with Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel,
10AND THEY SAW <OBJ.> [THE] GOD OF ISRAEL AND [WAS] UNDER FEET HIS LIKE [THE] WORKING OF <THE> PAVEMENT OF <THE> SAPPHIRE AND LIKE [THE] SUBSTANCE OF THE HEAVENS TO PURITY 10and they saw the God of Israel. Under His feet was a work like a pavement made of sapphire, as clear as the sky itself.
11AND AGAINST [THE] NOBLES OF [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL NOT HE STRETCHED OUT HAND HIS AND THEY SAW <OBJ.> <THE> GOD AND THEY ATE AND THEY DRANK 11But God did not lay His hand on the nobles of Israel; they saw Him, and they ate and drank.
12AND HE SAID YAHWEH TO MOSES COME UP TO ME THE MOUNTAIN TOWARDS AND BE THERE SO LET ME GIVE TO <THE> YOU <OBJ.> [THE] TABLETS OF <THE> STONE AND THE LAW AND THE COMMANDMENT WHICH I HAVE WRITTEN TO TEACH THEM Moses on the Mountain 12Then the LORD said to Moses, “Come up to Me on the mountain and stay here, so that I may give you the tablets of stone, with the law and commandments I have written for their instruction.”
13AND HE AROSE MOSES AND JOSHUA SERVANT HIS AND HE WENT UP MOSES TO [THE] MOUNTAIN OF <THE> GOD 13So Moses set out with Joshua his attendant and went up on the mountain of God.
14AND TO THE ELDERS HE SAID REMAIN FOR <THE> US IN THIS [PLACE] UNTIL THAT WE WILL RETURN TO YOU AND HERE! AARON AND HUR [ARE] WITH YOU WHOEVER [IS] A MASTER OF MATTERS HE WILL DRAW NEAR TO THEM 14And he said to the elders, “Wait here for us until we return to you. Aaron and Hur are here with you. Whoever has a dispute can go to them.”
15AND HE WENT UP MOSES TO THE MOUNTAIN AND IT COVERED THE CLOUD <OBJ.> THE MOUNTAIN 15When Moses went up on the mountain, the cloud covered it,
16AND IT SETTLED DOWN [THE] GLORY OF YAHWEH ON [THE] MOUNTAIN OF SINAI AND IT COVERED IT THE CLOUD SIX DAYS AND HE SUMMONED <TO> MOSES ON THE DAY <THE> SEVENTH FROM [THE] MIDDLE OF THE CLOUD 16and the glory of the LORD settled on Mount Sinai. For six days the cloud covered it, and on the seventh day the LORD called to Moses from within the cloud.
17AND [THE] APPEARANCE OF [THE] GLORY OF YAHWEH [WAS] LIKE A FIRE CONSUMING ON [THE] TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN TO [THE] EYES OF [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL 17And the sight of the glory of the LORD was like a consuming fire on the mountaintop in the eyes of the Israelites.
18AND HE WENT MOSES IN [THE] MIDST OF THE CLOUD AND HE WENT UP TO THE MOUNTAIN AND HE WAS MOSES ON THE MOUNTAIN FORTY DAY[S] AND FORTY NIGHT[S] 18Moses entered the cloud as he went up on the mountain, and he remained on the mountain forty days and forty nights.
