27THE KING HE WILL MOURN AND [THE] PRINCE HE WILL WEAR DESOLATION AND [THE] HANDS OF [THE] PEOPLE OF THE LAND THEY WILL BE TERRIFIED FROM WAY THEIR I WILL DEAL WITH <OBJ.> THEM AND BY JUDGMENTS THEIR I WILL JUDGE THEM AND THEY WILL KNOW THAT I [AM] YAHWEH 27The king will mourn, the prince will be clothed with despair, and the hands of the people of the land will tremble. I will deal with them according to their conduct, and I will judge them by their own standards. Then they will know that I am the LORD.’”
1AND IT WAS IN THE YEAR <THE> SIXTH IN THE SIXTH [MONTH] ON [DAY] FIVE OF THE MONTH I [WAS] SITTING IN HOUSE MY AND [THE] ELDERS OF JUDAH [WERE] SITTING <TO> BEFORE ME AND IT FELL ON ME THERE [THE] HAND OF [THE] LORD YAHWEH The Vision of Idolatry in the Temple 1In the sixth year, on the fifth day of the sixth month, I was sitting in my house, and the elders of Judah were sitting before me; and there the hand of the Lord GOD fell upon me.
2AND I SAW AND THERE! A LIKENESS LIKE [THE] APPEARANCE OF FIRE [WAS] FROM [THE] APPEARANCE OF HIPS HIS AND <TO> DOWNWARDS FIRE AND [WAS] FROM HIPS HIS AND <TO> UPWARDS <TOWARDS> LIKE [THE] APPEARANCE OF BRIGHTNESS LIKE [THE] APPEARANCE OF <THE> SHINING SUBSTANCE TOWARDS 2Then I looked and saw a figure like that of a man. From His waist down His appearance was like fire, and from His waist up He was as bright as the gleam of amber.*NoteCloseOr as glowing metal
3AND HE STRETCHED OUT [THE] FORM OF A HAND AND HE TOOK ME BY [THE] HAIR OF HEAD MY AND IT CARRIED <OBJ.> ME A SPIRIT BETWEEN THE EARTH AND BETWEEN THE HEAVENS AND IT BROUGHT <OBJ.> ME JERUSALEM TOWARDS IN VISIONS OF GOD TO [THE] OPENING OF [THE] GATE THE INNER [COURT] WHICH FACES NORTH -WARD WHERE [WAS] THERE [THE] LOCATION OF [THE] IDOL OF <THE> JEALOUSY WHICH PROVOKES TO JEALOUSY 3He stretched out what looked like a hand and took me by the hair of my head. Then the Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven and carried me in visions of God to Jerusalem, to the entrance of the north gate of the inner court, where the idol that provokes jealousy was seated.
4AND THERE! [WAS] THERE [THE] GLORY OF [THE] GOD OF ISRAEL LIKE THE APPEARANCE WHICH I HAD SEEN ON THE PLAIN 4And there I saw the glory of the God of Israel, like the vision I had seen in the plain.
5AND HE SAID TO ME O SON OF HUMANKIND LIFT UP PLEASE EYES YOUR [THE] DIRECTION NORTH -WARD AND I LIFTED UP EYES MY [THE] DIRECTION NORTH -WARD AND THERE! FROM [THE] NORTH OF [THE] GATE OF THE ALTAR [THE] IDOL OF <THE> JEALOUSY <THE> THIS [WAS] IN THE ENTRANCE 5“Son of man,” He said to me, “now lift up your eyes to the north.” So I lifted up my eyes to the north, and in the entrance north of the Altar Gate*NoteCloseOr gate of the altar I saw this idol of jealousy.
6AND HE SAID TO ME O SON OF HUMANKIND ¿ SEEING [ARE] YOU WHAT [ARE] THEY? DOING ABOMINATIONS GREAT WHICH [THE] HOUSE OF ISRAEL [ARE] DOING HERE TO BE FAR FROM AT SANCTUARY MY AND AGAIN YOU WILL RETURN YOU WILL SEE ABOMINATIONS GREAT 6“Son of man,” He said to me, “do you see what they are doing— the great abominations that the house of Israel is committing— to drive Me far from My sanctuary? Yet you will see even greater abominations.”
7AND HE BROUGHT <OBJ.> ME TO [THE] ENTRANCE OF THE COURT AND I SAW AND THERE! A HOLE ONE [WAS] IN THE WALL 7Then He brought me to the entrance to the court, and I looked and saw a hole in the wall.
8AND HE SAID TO ME O SON OF HUMANKIND DIG PLEASE IN THE WALL AND I DUG IN THE WALL AND THERE! AN OPENING ONE 8“Son of man,” He told me, “dig through the wall.” So I dug through the wall and discovered a doorway.
9AND HE SAID TO ME GO AND SEE <OBJ.> THE ABOMINATIONS <THE> WICKED WHICH THEY [ARE] DOING HERE 9Then He said to me, “Go in and see the wicked abominations they are committing here.”
10AND I WENT AND I SAW AND THERE! EVERY FORM OF CREEPING THING AND ANIMAL DETESTABLE THING AND ALL [THE] IDOLS OF [THE] HOUSE OF ISRAEL [WAS] CARVED ON THE WALL ALL AROUND ALL AROUND 10So I went in and looked, and engraved all around the wall was every kind of crawling creature and detestable beast, along with all the idols of the house of Israel.
11AND SEVENTY MAN FROM [THE] ELDERS OF [THE] HOUSE OF ISRAEL AND JAAZANIAH [THE] SON OF SHAPHAN [WAS] STANDING IN MIDST OF THEM [WERE] STANDING <TO> BEFORE THEM AND EVERYONE CENSER HIS [WAS] IN HAND HIS AND [THE] FRAGRANCE OF [THE] CLOUD OF <THE> INCENSE [WAS] GOING UP 11Before them stood seventy elders of the house of Israel, with Jaazaniah son of Shaphan standing among them. Each had a censer in his hand, and a fragrant cloud of incense was rising.
12AND HE SAID TO ME ¿ HAVE YOU SEEN O SON OF HUMANKIND [THAT] WHICH [THE] ELDERS OF [THE] HOUSE OF ISRAEL [ARE] DOING IN THE DARKNESS EVERYONE IN [THE] ROOMS OF CARVED IMAGE HIS FOR [THEY ARE] SAYING NOT YAHWEH [IS] SEEING <OBJ.> US HE HAS FORSAKEN YAHWEH <OBJ.> THE LAND 12“Son of man,” He said to me, “do you see what the elders of the house of Israel are doing in the darkness, each at the shrine of his own idol? For they are saying, ‘The LORD does not see us; the LORD has forsaken the land.’”
13AND HE SAID TO ME AGAIN YOU WILL RETURN YOU WILL SEE ABOMINATIONS GREAT WHICH THEY [ARE] DOING 13Again, He told me, “You will see them committing even greater abominations.”
14AND HE BROUGHT <OBJ.> ME TO [THE] ENTRANCE OF [THE] GATE OF [THE] HOUSE OF YAHWEH WHICH [WAS] TO THE NORTH TOWARDS AND THERE! THERE THE WOMEN [WERE] SITTING BEWAILING <OBJ.> <THE> TAMMUZ 14Then He brought me to the entrance of the north gate of the house of the LORD and I saw women sitting there, weeping for Tammuz.*NoteCloseTammuz, meaning Sprout of Life, was a Sumerian god of fertility.
15AND HE SAID TO ME ¿ HAVE YOU SEEN O SON OF HUMANKIND AGAIN YOU WILL RETURN YOU WILL SEE ABOMINATIONS GREAT MORE THAN THESE 15“Son of man,” He said to me, “do you see this? Yet you will see even greater abominations than these.”
16AND HE BROUGHT <OBJ.> ME TO [THE] COURT OF [THE] HOUSE OF YAHWEH <THE> INNER AND THERE! [WERE AT] [THE] ENTRANCE OF [THE] TEMPLE OF YAHWEH BETWEEN THE PORCH AND BETWEEN THE ALTAR ABOUT TWENTY AND FIVE PERSON[S] BACKS THEIR [WERE] TO [THE] TEMPLE OF YAHWEH AND FACES THEIR [WERE] EAST -WARD AND THEY [WERE] BOWING DOWN EAST -WARD TO THE SUN 16So He brought me to the inner court of the house of the LORD, and there at the entrance to the temple of the LORD, between the portico and the altar, were about twenty-five men with their backs to the temple of the LORD and their faces toward the east; and they were bowing to the east in worship of the sun.
17AND HE SAID TO ME ¿ HAVE YOU SEEN O SON OF HUMANKIND ¿ IS IT [TOO] TRIFLING FOR [THE] HOUSE OF JUDAH FOR DOING <OBJ.> THE ABOMINATIONS WHICH THEY HAVE DONE HERE THAT THEY HAVE FILLED <OBJ.> THE LAND VIOLENCE AND THEY HAVE RETURNED TO PROVOKE TO ANGER ME AND THERE THEY [ARE] SENDING <OBJ.> THE BRANCH TO NOSE THEIR 17“Son of man,” He said to me, “do you see this? Is it not enough for the house of Judah to commit the abominations they are practicing here, that they must also fill the land with violence and continually provoke Me to anger? Look, they are even putting the branch to their nose!
18AND ALSO I I WILL ACT IN RAGE NOT IT WILL LOOK WITH COMPASSION EYE MY AND NOT I WILL SHOW PITY AND THEY WILL CALL OUT IN EARS MY A VOICE GREAT AND NOT I WILL HEAR <OBJ.> THEM 18Therefore I will respond with wrath. I will not look on them with pity, nor will I spare them. Although they shout loudly in My ears, I will not listen to them.”
