20AND HE COMMANDED ON HIM PHARAOH MEN AND THEY SENT AWAY <OBJ.> HIM AND <OBJ.> WIFE HIS AND <OBJ.> ALL THAT [BELONGED] TO <THE> HIM 20Then Pharaoh gave his men orders concerning Abram, and they sent him away with his wife and all his possessions
1AND HE WENT UP ABRAM FROM EGYPT HE AND WIFE HIS AND ALL THAT [BELONGED] TO <THE> HIM AND LOT WITH HIM THE NEGEV TOWARDS Abram and Lot Part Ways 1So Abram went up out of Egypt into the Negev— he and his wife and all his possessions and Lot was with him.
2AND ABRAM [WAS] WEALTHY VERY IN <THE> LIVESTOCK IN <THE> SILVER AND IN <THE> GOLD 2And Abram had become extremely wealthy in livestock and silver and gold.
3AND HE WENT TO JOURNEYINGS HIS FROM [THE] NEGEV AND TO BETH- -EL TO THE PLACE WHERE IT HAD BEEN THERE TENT HIS AT THE BEGINNING BETWEEN BETH- -EL AND BETWEEN <THE> AI 3From the Negev he journeyed from place to place toward Bethel, until he came to the place between Bethel and Ai where his tent had formerly been pitched,
4TO [THE] PLACE OF THE ALTAR WHICH HE HAD MADE THERE AT THE FORMER [TIME] AND HE CALLED THERE ABRAM ON [THE] NAME OF YAHWEH 4to the site where he had built the altar. And there Abram called on the name of the LORD.
5AND ALSO TO LOT WHO WAS TRAVELING WITH ABRAM IT BE[LONGED] SHEEP AND CATTLE AND TENTS 5Now Lot, who was traveling with Abram, also had flocks and herds and tents.
6AND NOT IT SUPPORTED <OBJ.> THEM THE LAND TO DWELL TOGETHER FOR IT WAS POSSESSION[S] THEIR MUCH AND NOT THEY WERE ABLE TO DWELL TOGETHER 6But the land was unable to support both of them while they stayed together, for they had so many possessions that they were unable to coexist.
7AND IT WAS QUARRELING BETWEEN [THE] HERDSMEN OF [THE] LIVESTOCK OF ABRAM AND BETWEEN [THE] HERDSMEN OF [THE] LIVESTOCK OF LOT AND THE CANAANITE[S] AND THE PERIZZITE[S] THEN [WAS] DWELLING IN THE LAND 7And there was discord between the herdsmen of Abram and the herdsmen of Lot. At that time the Canaanites and the Perizzites were also living in the land.
8AND HE SAID ABRAM TO LOT MAY NOT PLEASE THERE BE STRIFE BETWEEN ME AND BETWEEN YOU AND BETWEEN HERDSMEN MY AND BETWEEN HERDSMEN YOUR FOR [ARE] MEN BROTHERS WE 8So Abram said to Lot, “Please let there be no contention between you and me, or between your herdsmen and my herdsmen. After all, we are kinsmen.
9¿ NOT [IS] ALL THE LAND <TO> BEFORE YOU SEPARATE PLEASE FROM WITH <THE> ME IF THE LEFT SO LET ME GO RIGHT AND IF THE RIGHT AND I WILL GO LEFT 9Is not the whole land before you? Now separate yourself from me. If you go to the left, I will go to the right; if you go to the right, I will go to the left.”
10AND HE LIFTED UP LOT <OBJ.> EYES HIS AND HE SAW <OBJ.> ALL [THE] VALLEY OF THE JORDAN THAT ALL OF IT [WAS] WELL-WATERED <TO> BEFORE DESTROYED YAHWEH <OBJ.> SODOM AND <OBJ.> GOMORRAH LIKE [THE] GARDEN OF YAHWEH LIKE [THE] LAND OF EGYPT GOING YOU ZOAR Lot Proceeds toward Sodom 10And Lot looked out and saw that the whole plain of the Jordan, all the way to Zoar, was well watered like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt. (This was before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.)
11AND HE CHOSE FOR <THE> HIMSELF LOT <OBJ.> ALL [THE] VALLEY OF THE JORDAN AND HE SET OUT LOT FROM [THE] EAST AND THEY SEPARATED EACH FROM WITH BROTHER HIS 11So Lot chose the whole plain of the Jordan for himself and set out toward the east. And Abram and Lot parted company.
12ABRAM HE DWELT IN [THE] LAND OF CANAAN AND LOT HE DWELT IN [THE] CITIES OF THE VALLEY AND HE MOVED TENT TO SODOM 12Abram lived in the land of Canaan, but Lot settled in the cities of the plain and pitched his tent toward Sodom.
13AND [THE] PEOPLE OF SODOM [WERE] WICKED AND SINFUL TO YAHWEH EXCEEDINGLY 13But the men of Sodom were wicked, sinning greatly against the LORD.
14AND YAHWEH HE SAID TO ABRAM AFTER SEPARATED LOT FROM WITH <THE> HIM LIFT UP PLEASE EYES YOUR AND LOOK FROM THE PLACE WHERE YOU [ARE] THERE NORTH -WARD AND SOUTH -WARD AND EAST -WARD AND WEST -WARD God Renews the Promise to Abram 14After Lot had departed, the LORD said to Abram, “Now lift up your eyes from the place where you are, and look to the north and south and east and west,
15FOR <OBJ.> ALL THE LAND WHICH YOU [ARE] SEEING TO <THE> YOU I WILL GIVE IT AND TO OFFSPRING YOUR UNTIL PERPETUITY 15for all the land that you see, I will give to you and your offspring forever.*NoteCloseCited in Galatians 3:16
16AND I WILL MAKE <OBJ.> OFFSPRING YOUR LIKE [THE] DUST OF THE EARTH WHICH IF HE WILL BE ABLE ANYONE TO COUNT <OBJ.> [THE] DUST OF THE EARTH ALSO OFFSPRING YOUR IT WILL NUMBERED 16I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if one could count the dust of the earth, then your offspring could be counted.
17ARISE WALK ABOUT IN THE LAND TO LENGTH ITS AND TO BREADTH ITS FOR TO <THE> YOU I WILL GIVE IT 17Get up and walk around the land, through its length and breadth, for I will give it to you.”
18AND HE MOVED TENT ABRAM AND HE WENT AND HE DWELT AT [THE] GREAT TREES OF MAMRE WHICH [ARE] AT HEBRON AND HE BUILT THERE AN ALTAR TO YAHWEH 18So Abram moved his tent and went to live near the Oaks*NoteCloseOr Terebinths or Great Trees of Mamre at Hebron, where he built an altar to the LORD.
