24AND HE DROVE OUT <OBJ.> THE MAN AND HE CAUSED TO DWELL FROM EAST OF [THE] GARDEN OF EDEN <OBJ.> THE CHERUBIM AND <OBJ.> [THE] FLAME OF THE SWORD <THE> WHIRLING TO GUARD <OBJ.> [THE] WAY OF [THE] TREE OF <THE> LIFE 24So He drove out the man and stationed cherubim on the east side of the Garden of Eden, along with a whirling sword of flame to guard the way to the tree of life.
1AND THE MAN HE KNEW <OBJ.> EVE WIFE HIS AND SHE CONCEIVED AND SHE BORE <OBJ.> CAIN AND SHE SAID I HAVE ACQUIRED A MAN WITH YAHWEH Cain and Abel (Hebrews 11:4) 1And Adam had relations with his wife Eve, and she conceived and gave birth to Cain.*NoteCloseCain sounds like the Hebrew for acquired or brought forth. “With the help of the LORD I have brought forth a man,” she said.
2AND SHE REPEATED TO GIVE BIRTH TO <OBJ.> BROTHER HIS <OBJ.> ABEL AND HE WAS ABEL A HERDER OF SHEEP AND CAIN HE WAS A TILLER OF [THE] GROUND 2Later she gave birth to Cain’s brother Abel. Now Abel was a keeper of sheep, while Cain was a tiller of the soil.
3AND IT HAPPENED FROM [THE] END OF DAYS AND HE BROUGHT CAIN SOME OF [THE] FRUIT OF THE GROUND AN OFFERING TO YAHWEH 3So in the course of time Cain brought some of the fruit of the soil as an offering to the LORD,
4AND ABEL HE BROUGHT ALSO HE SOME OF [THE] FIRSTBORN<S> OF FLOCK HIS AND SOME OF FAT<S> THEIR AND HE LOOKED YAHWEH TO ABEL AND TO OFFERING HIS 4while Abel brought the best portions of the firstborn of his flock. And the LORD looked with favor on Abel and his offering,
5AND TO CAIN AND TO OFFERING HIS NOT HE LOOKED AND BURNED TO CAIN EXCEEDINGLY AND THEY FELL FACE HIS 5but He had no regard for Cain and his offering. So Cain became very angry, and his countenance fell.
6AND HE SAID YAHWEH TO CAIN <TO> WHY? DOES IT BURN TO <THE> YOU AND <TO> WHY? HAVE THEY FALLEN FACE YOUR 6“Why are you angry,” said the LORD to Cain, and why has your countenance fallen?
7¿ NOT IF YOU WILL DO WELL LIFTING UP AND IF NOT YOU WILL DO WELL TO THE DOOR SIN [IS] CROUCHING AND [IS] TO YOU DESIRE ITS AND YOU YOU WILL RULE OVER <THE> IT 7If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? 8AND HE SAID CAIN TO ABEL BROTHER HIS LET US GO [INTO] THE FIELD AND IT WAS WHEN WERE THEY IN THE FIELD AND HE ROSE UP CAIN AGAINST ABEL BROTHER HIS AND HE KILLED HIM 8Then Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let us go out to the field.”*NoteCloseSP, LXX, Syriac, and Vulgate; Hebrew Then Cain spoke to his brother Abel. And while they were in the field, Cain rose up against his brother Abel and killed him.
9AND HE SAID YAHWEH TO CAIN WHERE? [IS] ABEL BROTHER YOUR AND HE SAID NOT I KNOW ¿ [THE] KEEPER OF BROTHER MY [AM] I 9And the LORD said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?” “I do not know!” he answered. “Am I my brother’s keeper?”
10AND HE SAID WHAT? HAVE YOU DONE [THE] VOICE OF [THE] BLOOD<S> OF BROTHER YOUR [ARE] CRYING OUT TO ME FROM THE GROUND 10“What have you done?” replied the LORD. “The voice of your brother’s blood cries out to Me from the ground.
11AND NOW [ARE] CURSED YOU FROM THE GROUND WHICH <IT> HAS OPENED <OBJ.> MOUTH ITS TO RECEIVE <OBJ.> [THE] BLOOD<S> OF BROTHER YOUR FROM HAND YOUR 11Now you are cursed and banished from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand.
12FOR YOU WILL TILL <OBJ.> THE GROUND NOT <IT> WILL REPEAT TO GIVE PRODUCE ITS TO <THE> YOU A WANDERER AND A FUGITIVE YOU WILL BE ON THE EARTH 12When you till the ground, it will no longer yield its produce to you. You will be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth.”
13AND HE SAID CAIN TO YAHWEH [IS TOO] GREAT PUNISHMENT MY FOR BEARING 13But Cain said to the LORD, “My punishment*NoteCloseOr guilt or sin is greater than I can bear.
14HERE! YOU HAVE DRIVEN AWAY <OBJ.> ME THIS DAY FROM ON [THE] SURFACE OF THE GROUND AND FROM BEFORE YOU I WILL BE HIDDEN AND I WILL BE A WANDERER AND A FUGITIVE ON THE EARTH AND IT WILL BE EVERY [ONE WHO] FINDS ME HE WILL KILL ME 14Behold, this day You have driven me from the face of the earth, and from Your face I will be hidden; I will be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me.”
15AND HE SAID TO <THE> HIM YAHWEH <TO> THEREFORE ANY [ONE WHO] KILLS <OF> CAIN SEVENFOLD HE WILL BE AVENGED AND HE APPOINTED YAHWEH FOR CAIN A SIGN TO NOT TO STRIKE <OBJ.> HIM ANY [ONE WHO] FOUND HIM 15“Not so!”*NoteCloseLXX, Vulgate, and Syriac; Hebrew “Very well!” or “Therefore:” replied the LORD. “If anyone slays Cain, then Cain will be avenged sevenfold.” And the LORD placed a mark on Cain, so that no one who found him would kill him.
16AND HE WENT OUT CAIN FROM TO BEFORE YAHWEH AND HE DWELT IN [THE] LAND OF NOD [THE] EAST OF EDEN 16So Cain went out from the presence of the LORD and settled in the land of Nod,*NoteCloseNod means wandering. east of Eden.
17AND HE KNEW CAIN <OBJ.> WIFE HIS AND SHE CONCEIVED AND SHE BORE <OBJ.> ENOCH AND HE WAS BUILDING A CITY AND HE CALLED [THE] NAME OF THE CITY ACCORDING TO [THE] NAME OF SON HIS ENOCH The Descendants of Cain 17And Cain had relations with his wife, and she conceived and gave birth to Enoch. Then Cain built a city and named it after his son Enoch.
18AND HE WAS BORN TO ENOCH <OBJ.> IRAD AND IRAD HE FATHERED <OBJ.> MEHUJAEL AND MEHUJAEL HE FATHERED <OBJ.> METHUSHAEL AND METHUSHAEL HE FATHERED <OBJ.> LAMECH 18Now to Enoch was born Irad, and Irad was the father of Mehujael, and Mehujael was the father of Methusael, and Methusael was the father of Lamech.
19AND HE TOOK FOR <THE> HIMSELF LAMECH TWO WIVES [THE] NAME OF THE ONE [WAS] ADAH AND [THE] NAME OF THE SECOND [WAS] ZILLAH 19And Lamech married two women, one named Adah and the other Zillah.
20AND SHE BORE ADAH <OBJ.> JABAL HE HE WAS [THE] FATHER OF DWELLER[S] OF TENT AND LIVESTOCK 20Adah gave birth to Jabal; he was the father of those who dwell in tents and raise livestock.
21AND [THE] NAME OF BROTHER HIS [WAS] JUBAL HE HE WAS [THE] FATHER OF EVERY PLAYER OF HARP AND FLUTE 21And his brother’s name was Jubal; he was the father of all who play the harp and flute.
22AND ZILLAH ALSO SHE SHE BORE <OBJ.> TUBAL- CAIN A SHARPENER OF EVERY WORKER OF BRONZE AND IRON AND [WAS] [THE] SISTER OF TUBAL- CAIN NAAMAH 22And Zillah gave birth to Tubal-cain, a forger of every implement of bronze and iron. And the sister of Tubal-cain was Naamah.
23AND HE SAID LAMECH TO WIVES HIS O ADAH AND ZILLAH LISTEN TO VOICE MY O WIVES OF LAMECH GIVE EAR TO SPEECH MY THAT A MAN I HAVE KILLED FOR BRUISE MY AND A YOUNG MAN FOR WOUND MY 23Then Lamech said to his wives: “Adah and Zillah, hear my voice; wives of Lamech, listen to my speech. For I have slain a man for wounding me, a young man for striking me.

26AND TO SETH ALSO HE HE WAS BORN A SON AND HE CALLED <OBJ.> NAME HIS ENOSH THEN IT WAS BEGUN TO CALL ON [THE] NAME OF YAHWEH 26And to Seth also a son was born, and he called him Enosh. At that time men began to call upon*NoteCloseOr to proclaim; some translators to invoke or to call themselves by or to profane the name of the LORD.
