32AND HE WAS NOAH A SON OF FIVE HUNDRED<S> YEAR[S] AND HE FATHERED NOAH <OBJ.> SHEM <OBJ.> HAM AND <OBJ.> JAPHETH 32After Noah was 500 years old, he became the father of Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
1AND IT WAS THAT <IT> BEGAN <THE> HUMANKIND TO BECOME NUMEROUS ON [THE] SURFACE OF THE GROUND AND DAUGHTERS THEY WERE BORN TO <THE> THEM Corruption on the Earth (Matthew 24:36–51) 1Now when men began to multiply on the face of the earth and daughters were born to them,
2AND THEY SAW [THE] SONS OF <THE> GOD <OBJ.> [THE] DAUGHTERS OF <THE> HUMANKIND THAT [WERE] GOOD THEY AND THEY TOOK FOR <THE> THEMSELVES WIVES FROM ALL WHOM THEY CHOSE 2the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they took as wives whomever they chose.
3AND HE SAID YAHWEH NOT <IT> WILL REMAIN SPIRIT MY IN <THE> HUMANKIND FOR EVER IN THAT ALSO HE [IS] FLESH AND THEY WILL BE DAYS HIS ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY YEAR[S] 3So the LORD said, “My Spirit will not contend with man forever,*NoteCloseLXX and Syriac My Spirit will not remain in man forever for he is mortal; his days shall be 120 years.”
4THE NEPHILIM THEY WERE ON THE EARTH IN THE DAYS <THE> THOSE AND ALSO AFTER THUS WHEN THEY WENT [THE] SONS OF <THE> GOD INTO [THE] DAUGHTERS OF <THE> HUMANKIND AND THEY BORE CHILDREN TO <THE> THEM THEY [WERE] THE MIGHTY [MEN] WHO [WERE] FROM LONG AGO [THE] MEN OF <THE> NAME 4The Nephilim were on the earth in those days— and afterward as well when the sons of God had relations with the daughters of men. And they bore them children who became the mighty men of old, men of renown.
5AND HE SAW YAHWEH THAT [WAS] GREAT [THE] EVIL OF <THE> HUMANKIND ON THE EARTH AND EVERY <THE> INCLINATION OF [THE] THOUGHTS OF HEART HIS ONLY [WAS] EVIL EVERY <THE> DAY 5Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great upon the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was altogether evil all the time.
6AND HE REGRETTED YAHWEH THAT HE HAD MADE <OBJ.> <THE> HUMANKIND ON THE EARTH AND HE WAS PAINED TO HEART HIS 6And the LORD regretted that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.
7AND HE SAID YAHWEH I WILL WIPE <OBJ.> <THE> HUMANKIND WHICH I CREATED FROM ON [THE] SURFACE OF THE GROUND FROM HUMANKIND UNTO ANIMAL[S] UNTO CREEPING THING[S] AND UNTO [THE] BIRD[S] OF THE HEAVENS FOR I REGRET THAT I HAVE MADE THEM 7So the LORD said, “I will blot out man, whom I have created, from the face of the earth— every man and beast and crawling creature and bird of the air— for I am grieved that I have made them.”
8AND NOAH HE FOUND FAVOR IN [THE] EYES OF YAHWEH Noah’s Favor with God 8Noah, however, found favor in the eyes of the LORD.
9THESE [ARE] [THE] ACCOUNTS OF NOAH NOAH [WAS] A MAN RIGHTEOUS BLAMELESS HE WAS IN GENERATIONS HIS WITH <THE> GOD HE WALKED ABOUT NOAH 9This is the account of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his generation; Noah walked with God.
10AND HE FATHERED NOAH THREE SONS <OBJ.> SHEM <OBJ.> HAM AND <OBJ.> JAPHETH 10And Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
11AND <IT> WAS CORRUPT THE EARTH <TO> BEFORE <THE> GOD AND <IT> WAS FILLED THE EARTH VIOLENCE 11Now the earth was corrupt in the sight of God, and full of violence.
12AND HE SAW GOD <OBJ.> THE EARTH AND THERE! IT WAS CORRUPT FOR <IT> HAD CORRUPTED ALL FLESH <OBJ.> WAY ITS ON THE EARTH 12And God looked upon the earth and saw that it was corrupt; for all living creatures*NoteCloseLiterally all flesh; similarly in verses 13, 17, and 19 on the earth had corrupted their ways.
13AND HE SAID GOD TO NOAH [THE] END OF ALL FLESH [IS] COMING <TO> BEFORE ME FOR <IT> IS FULL THE EARTH VIOLENCE <FROM> BECAUSE OF THEM AND HERE [AM] I ABOUT TO DESTROY THEM WITH THE EARTH Preparing the Ark (Hebrews 11:7) 13Then God said to Noah, “The end of all living creatures has come before Me, because through them the earth is full of violence. Now behold, I will destroy both them and the earth.
14MAKE FOR <THE> YOURSELF AN ARK OF WOOD<S> OF GOPHER NESTS YOU WILL MAKE <OBJ.> THE ARK AND YOU WILL COVER <OBJ.> IT FROM INSIDE AND FROM OUTSIDE WITH <THE> PITCH 14Make for yourself an ark of gopher wood;*NoteCloseGopher is an unknown kind of tree; possibly cypress or cedar. make rooms in the ark and coat it with pitch inside and out.
15AND THIS [IS] HOW YOU WILL MAKE <OBJ.> IT [WILL BE] THREE HUNDRED<S> CUBIT[S] [THE] LENGTH OF THE ARK [WILL BE] FIFTY CUBIT[S] BREADTH ITS AND [WILL BE] THIRTY CUBIT[S] HEIGHT ITS 15And this is how you are to build it: The ark is to be 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide, and 30 cubits high.*NoteCloseThe ark was approximately 450 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 45 feet high (137.2 meters long, 22.9 meters wide, and 13.7 meters high).
16A ROOF YOU WILL MAKE FOR THE ARK AND TO A CUBIT YOU WILL FINISH IT FROM TO ABOVE <TOWARDS> AND [THE] ENTRANCE OF THE ARK IN SIDE ITS YOU WILL PUT LOWER [DECKS] SECOND [DECKS] AND THIRD [DECKS] YOU WILL MAKE IT 16You are to make a roof*NoteCloseOr skylight or window for the ark, finish its walls a cubit from the top,*NoteCloseA cubit is approximately 18 inches or 45.7 centimeters. place a door in the side of the ark, and build lower, middle, and upper decks.
17AND I HERE I [AM] ABOUT TO BRING <OBJ.> THE FLOOD WATER ON THE EARTH TO DESTROY ALL FLESH WHICH [IS] IN <THE> IT [THE] BREATH OF LIFE FROM UNDER THE HEAVENS ALL THAT [IS] ON THE EARTH <IT> WILL DIE 17And behold, I will bring floodwaters upon the earth to destroy every creature under the heavens that has the breath of life. Everything on the earth will perish.
18AND I WILL ESTABLISH <OBJ.> COVENANT MY WITH YOU AND YOU WILL GO INTO THE ARK YOU AND SONS YOUR AND WIFE YOUR AND [THE] WIVES OF SONS YOUR WITH YOU 18But I will establish My covenant with you, and you will enter the ark— you and your sons and your wife and your sons’ wives with you.
19AND OF EVERY <THE> LIVING [THING] OF ALL FLESH TWO OF EVERYTHING YOU WILL BRING INTO THE ARK TO PRESERVE ALIVE WITH YOU MALE AND FEMALE THEY WILL BE 19And you are to bring two of every living creature into the ark— male and female to keep them alive with you.
20OF THE BIRD[S] TO KIND ITS AND OF THE ANIMAL[S] TO KIND ITS FROM EVERY <THE> CREEPING THING OF THE GROUND TO KIND ITS TWO OF EVERYTHING THEY WILL COME TO YOU TO PRESERVE ALIVE 20Two of every kind of bird and animal and crawling creature will come to you to be kept alive.
21AND YOU TAKE FOR <THE> YOURSELF SOME OF ALL FOOD WHICH <IT> IS EATEN AND YOU WILL GATHER [IT] TO YOURSELF AND IT WILL BECOME FOR YOU AND FOR <THE> THEM <INTO> FOOD 21You are also to take for yourself every kind of food that is eaten and gather it as food for yourselves and for the animals.”
22AND HE DID NOAH ACCORDING TO ALL THAT HE COMMANDED <OBJ.> HIM GOD SO HE DID 22So Noah did everything precisely as God had commanded him.
