22AGAIN ALL [THE] DAYS OF THE EARTH SEED AND HARVEST AND COLD AND HEAT AND SUMMER AND WINTER AND DAY AND NIGHT NOT THEY WILL CEASE 22As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night shall never cease.”
1AND HE BLESSED GOD <OBJ.> NOAH AND <OBJ.> SONS HIS AND HE SAID TO <THE> THEM BE FRUITFUL AND MULTIPLY AND FILL <OBJ.> THE EARTH The Covenant of the Rainbow 1And God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth.
2AND FEAR YOUR AND DREAD YOUR <IT> WILL BE ON EVERY <THE> ANIMAL OF THE EARTH AND ON EVERY <THE> BIRD OF THE HEAVENS ON ALL THAT <IT> CREEPS THE GROUND AND ON ALL [THE] FISH OF THE SEA IN HAND YOUR THEY ARE GIVEN 2The fear and dread of you will fall on every living creature on the earth, every bird of the air, every creature that crawls on the ground, and all the fish of the sea. They are delivered into your hand.
3EVERY CREEPING THING WHICH IT [IS] ALIVE FOR <THE> YOU IT WILL BECOME <INTO> FOOD LIKE [THE] GREENERY OF PLANT[S] I GIVE TO <THE> YOU <OBJ.> EVERYTHING 3Everything that lives and moves will be food for you; just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you all things.
4NEVERTHELESS FLESH WITH LIFE ITS BLOOD ITS NOT YOU MUST EAT 4But you must not eat meat with its lifeblood still in it.
5AND NEVERTHELESS <OBJ.> BLOOD OF YOUR OF LIVES YOU I WILL SEEK FROM [THE] HAND OF EVERY ANIMAL I WILL SEEK IT AND FROM [THE] HAND OF <THE> HUMANKIND FROM [THE] HAND OF EACH BROTHER HIS I WILL SEEK <OBJ.> [THE] LIFE OF <THE> HUMANKIND 5And surely I will require the life of any man or beast by whose hand your lifeblood is shed. I will demand an accounting from anyone who takes the life of his fellow man:
6[THE] [ONE WHO] SHEDS <OF> [THE] BLOOD OF <THE> HUMANKIND BY <THE> HUMANKIND BLOOD HIS <IT> WILL BE SHED FOR IN [THE] IMAGE OF GOD HE MADE <OBJ.> <THE> HUMANKIND 6Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man his blood will be shed; for in His own image God has made mankind.
7AND YOU BE FRUITFUL AND MULTIPLY SWARM ON THE EARTH AND MULTIPLY ON <THE> IT 7But as for you, be fruitful and multiply; spread out across the earth and multiply upon it.”
8AND HE SAID GOD TO NOAH AND TO SONS HIS WITH HIM <TO> SAYING 8Then God said to Noah and his sons with him,
9AND I HERE [AM] I ABOUT TO ESTABLISH <OBJ.> COVENANT MY WITH YOU AND WITH OFFSPRING YOUR AFTER YOU 9“Behold, I now establish My covenant with you and your descendants after you,
10AND WITH EVERY CREATURE <THE> LIVING WHICH [IS] WITH YOU AMONG THE BIRD[S] AMONG THE LIVESTOCK AND AMONG EVERY <THE> ANIMAL OF THE EARTH WITH YOU FROM ALL [THOSE WHICH] CAME OUT OF THE ARK TO EVERY <THE> ANIMAL OF THE EARTH 10and with every living creature that was with you— the birds, the livestock, and every beast of the earth every living thing that came out of the ark.
11AND I WILL ESTABLISH <OBJ.> COVENANT MY WITH YOU AND NOT <IT> WILL BE CUT OFF ALL FLESH AGAIN FROM [THE] WATERS OF THE FLOOD AND NOT <IT> WILL BE AGAIN A FLOOD TO DESTROY THE EARTH 11And I establish My covenant with you: Never again will all life be cut off by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.”
12AND HE SAID GOD THIS [IS] [THE] SIGN OF THE COVENANT WHICH I [AM] MAKING BETWEEN ME AND BETWEEN YOU AND BETWEEN EVERY CREATURE LIVING WHICH [IS] WITH YOU FOR GENERATIONS OF PERPETUITY 12And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between Me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come:
13<OBJ.> BOW MY I SET IN THE CLOUD[S] AND IT WILL BECOME <INTO> A SIGN OF A COVENANT BETWEEN ME AND BETWEEN THE EARTH 13I have set My rainbow in the clouds, and it will be a sign of the covenant between Me and the earth.
14AND IT WILL BE WHEN BRING CLOUD I CLOUD OVER THE EARTH AND IT WILL BE SEEN THE BOW IN THE CLOUD[S] 14Whenever I form clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds,
15AND I WILL REMEMBER <OBJ.> COVENANT MY WHICH [IS] BETWEEN ME AND BETWEEN YOU AND BETWEEN EVERY CREATURE LIVING AMONG ALL FLESH AND NOT <IT> WILL BECOME AGAIN THE WATER <INTO> A FLOOD TO DESTROY ALL FLESH 15I will remember My covenant between Me and you and every living creature of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.
16AND IT WILL BE THE BOW IN THE CLOUD[S] AND I WILL SEE IT TO REMEMBER [THE] COVENANT OF PERPETUITY BETWEEN GOD AND BETWEEN EVERY CREATURE LIVING AMONG ALL FLESH WHICH [IS] ON THE EARTH 16And whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of every kind that is on the earth.”
17AND HE SAID GOD TO NOAH THIS [IS] [THE] SIGN OF THE COVENANT WHICH I HAVE ESTABLISHED BETWEEN ME AND BETWEEN ALL FLESH WHICH [IS] ON THE EARTH 17So God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant that I have established between Me and every creature on the earth.”
18AND THEY WERE [THE] SONS OF NOAH WHO CAME OUT FROM THE ARK SHEM AND HAM AND JAPHETH AND HAM HE [WAS] [THE] FATHER OF CANAAN Noah’s Shame and Canaan’s Curse 18The sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth. And Ham was the father of Canaan.
19THREE THESE [WERE] [THE] SONS OF NOAH AND FROM THESE <IT> DISPERSED ALL THE EARTH 19These three were the sons of Noah, and from them the whole earth was populated.
20AND HE BEGAN NOAH [THE] MAN OF THE GROUND AND HE PLANTED A VINEYARD 20Now Noah, a man of the soil, proceeded*NoteCloseOr was the first to plant a vineyard.
21AND HE DRANK SOME OF THE WINE AND HE BECAME DRUNK AND HE UNCOVERED HIMSELF IN [THE] MIDDLE OF TENT HIS 21But when he drank some of its wine, he became drunk and uncovered himself inside his tent.
22AND HE SAW HAM [THE] FATHER OF CANAAN <OBJ.> [THE] NAKEDNESS OF FATHER HIS AND HE TOLD TO [THE] TWO BROTHERS HIS ON THE OUTSIDE 22And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father’s nakedness and told his two brothers outside.
23AND HE TOOK SHEM AND JAPHETH <OBJ.> THE GARMENT AND THEY PUT [IT] ON [THE] SHOULDER OF BOTH OF THEM AND THEY WALKED BACKWARDS AND THEY COVERED <OBJ.> [THE] NAKEDNESS OF FATHER THEIR AND FACES THEIR [WERE] BACKWARDS AND [THE] NAKEDNESS OF FATHER THEIR NOT THEY SAW 23Then Shem and Japheth took a garment and placed it across their shoulders, and walking backward, they covered their father’s nakedness. Their faces were turned away so that they did not see their father’s nakedness.
24AND HE AWOKE NOAH FROM WINE HIS AND HE KNEW <OBJ.> [THAT] WHICH HE HAD DONE TO <THE> HIM SON HIS <THE> YOUNG 24When Noah awoke from his drunkenness and learned what his youngest son had done to him,
25AND HE SAID [BE] CURSED CANAAN A SLAVE OF SLAVES HE WILL BE OF BROTHERS HIS 25he said, “Cursed be Canaan! A servant of servants shall he be to his brothers.”
26AND HE SAID [BE] BLESSED YAHWEH [THE] GOD OF SHEM AND LET HIM BE CANAAN A SLAVE TO <THE> THEM Shem’s Blessing and Noah’s Death 26He also declared: “Blessed be the LORD, the God of Shem! May Canaan be the servant of Shem.
27MAY HE MAKE SPACIOUS GOD <TO> JAPHETH AND LET HIM DWELL IN [THE] TENTS OF SHEM AND LET HIM BE CANAAN A SLAVE TO <THE> THEM 27May God expand the territory of Japheth;*NoteCloseJapheth sounds like the Hebrew for expand. may he dwell in the tents of Shem, and may Canaan be his servant
28AND HE LIVED NOAH AFTER THE FLOOD THREE HUNDRED<S> YEAR[S] AND FIFTY YEAR[S] 28After the flood, Noah lived 350 years.
29AND THEY WERE ALL [THE] DAYS OF NOAH NINE HUNDRED<S> YEAR[S] AND FIFTY YEAR[S] AND HE DIED 29So Noah lived a total of 950 years, and then he died.
