1 This is the account of Noah’s sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth, who also had sons after the flood.
2 [THE] SONS OF JAPHETH [WERE] GOMER AND MAGOG AND MADAI AND JAVAN AND TUBAL AND MESHECH AND TIRAS
The Japhethites
2 The sons of Japheth:
Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.
3 AND [THE] SONS OF GOMER [WERE] ASHKENAZ AND RIPHATH AND TOGARMAH
3 The sons of Gomer:
Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah.
4 AND [THE] SONS OF JAVAN [WERE] ELISHAH AND TARSHISH KITTIM AND DODANIM
4 And the sons of Javan:
Elishah, Tarshish, the Kittites, and the Rodanites.
5 FROM THESE THEY SEPARATED [THE] COASTLANDS OF THE NATIONS IN OWN LANDS THEIR EACH TO OWN LANGUAGE ITS TO CLANS THEIR IN NATIONS THEIR
5 From these, the maritime peoples separated into their territories, according to their languages, by clans within their nations.
6 AND [THE] SONS OF HAM [WERE] CUSH AND MIZRAIM AND PUT AND CANAAN
The Hamites
6 The sons of Ham:
Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan.
7 AND [THE] SONS OF CUSH [WERE] SEBA AND HAVILAH AND SABTAH AND RAAMAH AND SABTECA AND [THE] SONS OF RAAMAH [WERE] SHEBA AND DEDAN
7 The sons of Cush:
Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca.
And the sons of Raamah:
Sheba and Dedan.
8 AND CUSH HE FATHERED <OBJ.> NIMROD HE HE BEGAN TO BE A MIGHTY [MAN] ON THE EARTH
8 Cush was the father of Nimrod, who began to be a mighty one on the earth.
9 HE HE WAS A MIGHTY [MAN] OF HUNTING <TO> BEFORE YAHWEH THERE- -FORE IT IS SAID LIKE NIMROD A MIGHTY [MAN] OF HUNTING <TO> BEFORE YAHWEH
9 He was a mighty hunter before the LORD; so it is said, “Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the LORD.”
10 AND IT WAS [THE] BEGINNING OF KINGDOM HIS BABEL AND ERECH AND AKKAD AND CALNEH IN [THE] LAND OF SHINAR
10 His kingdom began in Babylon, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.
11 FROM THE LAND <THE> THAT HE WENT FORTH ASSYRIA AND HE BUILT <OBJ.> NINEVEH AND <OBJ.> REHOBOTH- IR AND <OBJ.> CALAH
11 From that land he went forth into Assyria, where he built Nineveh, Rehoboth-Ir, Calah,
12 AND <OBJ.> RESEN BETWEEN NINEVEH AND BETWEEN CALAH THAT [IS] THE CITY <THE> GREAT
12 and Resen, which is between Nineveh and the great city of Calah.
13 AND MIZRAIM HE FATHERED <OBJ.> [THE] LUDITES AND <OBJ.> [THE] ANAMITES AND <OBJ.> [THE] LEHABITES AND <OBJ.> [THE] NAPHTUHITES
13 Mizraim was the father of the Ludites, the Anamites, the Lehabites, the Naphtuhites,
14 AND <OBJ.> [THE] PATHRUSITES AND <OBJ.> [THE] CASLUHITES WHERE THEY CAME OUT FROM THERE [THE] PHILISTINES AND <OBJ.> [THE] CAPHTORITES
14 the Pathrusites, the Casluhites (from whom the Philistines came), and the Caphtorites.
15 AND CANAAN HE FATHERED <OBJ.> SIDON FIRSTBORN HIS AND <OBJ.> HETH
15 And Canaan was the father of Sidon his firstborn, and of the Hittites,
16 AND <OBJ.> THE JEBUSITE[S] AND <OBJ.> THE AMORITE[S] AND <OBJ.> THE GIRGASHITE[S]
16 the Jebusites, the Amorites, the Girgashites,
17 AND <OBJ.> THE HIVITE[S] AND <OBJ.> THE ARKITE[S] AND <OBJ.> THE SINITE[S]
17 the Hivites, the Arkites, the Sinites,
18 AND <OBJ.> THE ARVADITE[S] AND <OBJ.> THE ZEMARITE[S] AND <OBJ.> THE HAMATHITE[S] AND AFTER THEY WERE SCATTERED [THE] CLANS OF THE CANAANITE[S]
18 the Arvadites, the Zemarites, and the Hamathites.
Later the Canaanite clans were scattered,
19 AND IT WAS [THE] BORDER OF THE CANAANITE[S] FROM SIDON GOING YOU GERAR TOWARDS TO GAZA GOING YOU SODOM TOWARDS AND GOMORRAH AND ADMAH AND ZEBOIIM TO LASHA
19 and the borders of Canaan extended from Sidon toward Gerar as far as Gaza, and then toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, as far as Lasha.
20 THESE [WERE] [THE] SONS OF HAM TO CLANS THEIR TO LANGUAGES THEIR IN LANDS THEIR IN NATIONS THEIR
20 These are the sons of Ham according to their clans, languages, lands, and nations.
21 AND TO SHEM <IT> WAS BORN ALSO HE [THE] FATHER OF ALL [THE] SONS OF EBER [THE] BROTHER OF JAPHETH <THE> OLD
The Semites
21 And sons were also born to Shem, the older brother of Japheth; Shem was the forefather of all the sons of Eber.
22 [THE] SONS OF SHEM [WERE] ELAM AND ASSHUR AND ARPHAXAD AND LUD AND ARAM
22 The sons of Shem:
Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud, and Aram.
23 AND [THE] SONS OF ARAM [WERE] UZ AND HUL AND GETHER AND MASH
23 The sons of Aram:
Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash.
24 AND ARPHAXAD HE FATHERED <OBJ.> SHELAH AND SHELAH HE FATHERED <OBJ.> EBER
24 Arphaxad was the father of Shelah, and Shelah was the father of Eber.
25 AND TO EBER <IT> WAS BORN TWO SONS [THE] NAME OF THE ONE [WAS] PELEG FOR IN DAYS HIS <IT> WAS DIVIDED THE EARTH AND [THE] NAME OF BROTHER HIS [WAS] JOKTAN
25 Two sons were born to Eber: One was named Peleg, because in his days the earth was divided, and his brother was named Joktan.
26 AND JOKTAN HE FATHERED <OBJ.> ALMODAD AND <OBJ.> SHELEPH AND <OBJ.> HAZARMAVETH AND <OBJ.> JERAH
26 And Joktan was the father of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,
27 AND <OBJ.> HADORAM AND <OBJ.> UZAL AND <OBJ.> DIKLAH
28 AND <OBJ.> OBAL AND <OBJ.> ABIMAEL AND <OBJ.> SHEBA
29 AND <OBJ.> OPHIR AND <OBJ.> HAVILAH AND <OBJ.> JOBAB ALL THESE [WERE] [THE] SONS OF JOKTAN
29 Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab. All these were sons of Joktan.
30 AND IT WAS DWELLING PLACE THEIR FROM MESHA GOING YOU SEPHAR TOWARDS [THE] HILL COUNTRY OF THE EAST
30 Their territory extended from Mesha to Sephar, in the eastern hill country.
31 THESE [WERE] [THE] SONS OF SHEM TO CLANS THEIR TO LANGUAGES THEIR IN LANDS THEIR TO NATIONS THEIR
31 These are the sons of Shem, according to their clans, languages, lands, and nations.
32 THESE [WERE] [THE] CLANS OF [THE] SONS OF NOAH TO DESCENDANTS THEIR IN NATIONS THEIR AND FROM THESE THEY SEPARATED THE NATIONS ON THE EARTH AFTER THE FLOOD
32 All these are the clans of Noah’s sons, according to their generations and nations. From these the nations of the earth spread out after the flood.
