15THUS SOMEONE WILL DO TO YOU O BETH- -EL <FROM> BECAUSE OF [THE] EVIL OF WICKEDNESS YOUR AT <THE> DAWN CERTAINLY <TO BE DESTROYED> HE WILL BE DESTROYED [THE] KING OF ISRAEL 15Thus it will be done to you, O Bethel, because of your great wickedness. When the day dawns, the king of Israel will be utterly cut off.

2THEY SUMMONED <TO> THEM SO THEY WENT FROM BEFORE THEM TO THE BAALS THEY SACRIFICED AND TO THE IDOLS THEY MADE SMOKE! 2But the more I called Israel, the farther they departed from Me.*NoteCloseLXX; Hebrew The more they called them, the more they went from them. 3AND I I TAUGHT TO WALK <TO> EPHRAIM HE TOOK THEM ON ARMS HIS AND NOT THEY KNEW THAT I HAD HEALED THEM 3It was I who taught Ephraim*NoteCloseThat is, the northern kingdom of Israel; also in verses 8, 9, and 12 to walk, taking them by the arms, but they never realized that it was I who healed them.
4WITH CORDS OF HUMANKIND I DREW THEM WITH ROPES OF LOVE AND I WAS TO THEM LIKE [THOSE WHO] LIFT <OF> A YOKE ON JAWS THEIR AND I INCLINE TO HIM I FEED [HIM] 4I led them with cords of kindness, with ropes of love; I lifted the yoke from their necks and bent down to feed them.
5NOT HE WILL RETURN TO [THE] LAND OF EGYPT AND ASSYRIA IT [WILL BE] KING HIS FOR THEY HAVE REFUSED TO REPENT 5Will they not return to the land of Egypt and be ruled by Assyria because they refused to repent?
6AND IT WILL WHIRL A SWORD IN CITIES HIS AND IT WILL PUT AN END TO BARS HIS AND IT WILL DEVOUR [THEM] FROM SCHEMES THEIR 6A sword will flash through their cities; it will destroy the bars of their gates and consume them in their own plans.
7AND PEOPLE MY [IS] HUNG UP TO APOSTASY MY AND TO A HEIGHT THEY CALL ON HIM TOGETHER NOT HE WILL EXALT [THEM] 7My people are bent on turning from Me. Though they call to the Most High, He will by no means exalt them.
8HOW? WILL I GIVE UP YOU O EPHRAIM WILL I DELIVER UP? YOU O ISRAEL HOW? WILL I MAKE YOU LIKE ADMAH WILL I MAKE? YOU LIKE ZEBOIIM IT HAS BEEN CHANGED ON ME HEART MY TOGETHER THEY HAVE GROWN WARM COMPASSIONS MY God’s Love for Israel 8How could I give you up, O Ephraim? How could I surrender you, O Israel? How could I make you like Admah? How could I treat you like Zeboiim? My heart is turned within Me My compassion is stirred!
9NOT I WILL CARRY OUT [THE] BURNING OF ANGER MY NOT I WILL REPEAT TO DESTROY EPHRAIM FOR [AM] GOD I AND NOT A HUMAN IN MIDST YOUR [THE] HOLY [ONE] AND NOT I WILL COME IN RAGE 9I will not execute the full fury of My anger; I will not destroy Ephraim again. For I am God and not man— the Holy One among you— and I will not come in wrath.
10AFTER YAHWEH THEY WILL WALK LIKE A LION HE WILL ROAR IF HE HE WILL ROAR AND THEY MAY TREMBLE CHILDREN FROM [THE] WEST 10They will walk after the LORD; He will roar like a lion. When He roars, His children will come trembling from the west.
11THEY WILL TREMBLE LIKE A BIRD FROM EGYPT AND LIKE A DOVE FROM [THE] LAND OF ASSYRIA AND I WILL CAUSE TO DWELL THEM AT HOUSES THEIR [THE] UTTERANCE OF YAHWEH 11They will come trembling like birds from Egypt and like doves from the land of Assyria. Then I will settle them in their homes, declares the LORD.
12THEY HAVE SURROUNDED ME WITH LYING EPHRAIM AND WITH DECEIT [THE] HOUSE OF ISRAEL AND JUDAH STILL IT HAS ROAMED WITH GOD AND WITH [THE] HOLY [ONE<S>] FAITHFUL 12Ephraim surrounds Me with lies, the house of Israel with deceit; but Judah still walks with God and is faithful to the Holy One.*NoteCloseOr and Judah is unruly against God, the faithful Holy One
