14THERE! THESE [ARE] [THE] ENDS OF WAYS HIS AND WHAT! A WHISPER OF A WORD WE HEAR IN IT AND [THE] THUNDER OF MIGHTY DEEDS HIS WHO? WILL HE UNDERSTAND 14Indeed, these are but the fringes of His ways; how faint is the whisper we hear of Him! Who then can understand the thunder of His power?”
1AND HE REPEATED JOB TO TAKE UP DISCOURSE HIS AND HE SAID Job Affirms His Integrity 1Job continued his discourse:
2[BY] [THE] LIFE OF GOD [WHO] HE HAS TAKEN AWAY RIGHT MY AND [THE] ALMIGHTY [WHO] HE HAS MADE BITTER SELF MY 2“As surely as God lives, who has deprived me of justice— the Almighty, who has embittered my soul—
3FOR ALL STILL BREATH MY [IS] IN ME AND [THE] SPIRIT OF GOD [IS] IN NOSTRIL[S] MY 3as long as my breath is still within me and the breath of God remains in my nostrils
4IF THEY WILL SPEAK LIPS MY INJUSTICE AND TONGUE MY IF IT WILL UTTER DECEIT 4my lips will not speak wickedness, and my tongue will not utter deceit.
5FAR BE IT TO ME IF I WILL DECLARE RIGHT <OBJ.> YOU UNTIL I WILL EXPIRE NOT I WILL PUT ASIDE INTEGRITY MY FROM ME 5I will never say that you are right; I will maintain my integrity until I die.
6ON RIGHTEOUSNESS MY I HAVE KEPT HOLD AND NOT I WILL LET GO IT NOT IT REPROACHES HEART MY ANY OF DAYS MY 6I will cling to my righteousness and never let go. As long as I live, my conscience will not accuse me.
7MAY HE BE LIKE A WICKED [PERSON] ENEMY MY AND [ONE WHO] RAISES HIMSELF AGAINST ME LIKE AN EVIL-DOER The Wicked Man’s Portion 7May my enemy be like the wicked and my opponent like the unjust.
8FOR WHAT? [IS THE] HOPE OF A GODLESS [PERSON] IF HE WILL CUT OFF IF HE WILL TAKE AWAY GOD LIFE HIS 8For what is the hope of the godless when he is cut off, when God takes away his life?
9¿ CRY HIS WILL HE HEAR GOD IF IT WILL COME ON HIM DISTRESS 9Will God hear his cry when distress comes upon him?
10OR? ON [THE] ALMIGHTY WILL HE TAKE DELIGHT WILL HE CALL ON? GOD AT EVERY TIME 10Will he delight in the Almighty? Will he call upon God at all times?
11I WILL INSTRUCT <OBJ.> YOU IN [THE] HAND OF GOD [THAT] WHICH [IS] WITH [THE] ALMIGHTY NOT I WILL HIDE 11I will instruct you in the power of God. I will not conceal the ways of the Almighty.
12THERE! YOU ALL OF YOU YOU HAVE SEEN AND <TO> WHY? THIS VANITY DO YOU ACT IN VAIN 12Surely all of you have seen it for yourselves. Why then do you keep up this empty talk?
13THIS [IS THE] PORTION OF A PERSON WICKED WITH GOD AND [THE] INHERITANCE OF RUTHLESS [PEOPLE] [WHICH] FROM [THE] ALMIGHTY THEY WILL RECEIVE 13This is the wicked man’s portion from God— the heritage the ruthless receive from the Almighty.
14IF THEY WILL INCREASE CHILDREN HIS FOR [THE] SWORD AND DESCENDANTS HIS NOT THEY WILL BE SATISFIED BREAD 14Though his sons are many, they are destined for the sword; and his offspring will never have enough food.
15SURVIVORS HIS BY <THE> DEATH THEY WILL BE BURIED AND WIDOWS HIS NOT THEY WILL WEEP 15His survivors will be buried by the plague, and their widows will not weep for them.
16IF HE WILL HEAP UP LIKE <THE> DUST SILVER AND LIKE <THE> CLAY HE WILL PREPARE CLOTHING 16Though he heaps up silver like dust and piles up a wardrobe like clay,
17HE WILL PREPARE [IT] AND A RIGHTEOUS [PERSON] HE WILL WEAR [IT] AND [THE] SILVER [THE] INNOCENT HE WILL DIVIDE UP 17what he lays up, the righteous will wear, and his silver will be divided by the innocent.
18HE HAS BUILT LIKE <THE> MOTH HOUSE HIS AND LIKE A SHELTER [WHICH] HE HAS MADE A WATCHMAN 18The house he built is like a moth’s cocoon, like a hut set up by a watchman.
19RICH HE WILL LIE DOWN AND NOT HE WILL BE REMOVED EYES HIS HE OPENS AND THERE NOT [IS] IT 19He lies down wealthy, but will do so no more; when he opens his eyes, all is gone.
20IT OVERTAKES HIM LIKE <THE> WATERS SUDDEN TERROR<S> NIGHT IT STEALS AWAY HIM A STORM-WIND 20Terrors overtake him like a flood; a tempest sweeps him away in the night.
21IT WILL LIFT UP HIM AN EAST WIND SO HE MAY GO AND IT WILL WHIRL AWAY HIM FROM PLACE HIS 21The east wind carries him away, and he is gone; it sweeps him out of his place.
22AND HE WILL THROW [IT] ON HIM AND NOT HE WILL SHOW PITY FROM HAND HIS CERTAINLY HE WILL FLEE 22It hurls itself against him without mercy as he flees headlong from its power.
23SOMEONE WILL CLAP ON HIM HANDS THEIR SO HE MAY HISS ON HIM FROM PLACE HIS 23It claps its hands at him and hisses him out of his place. [’’]
