33IF NOT YOU LISTEN TO ME KEEP QUIET AND I WILL TEACH YOU WISDOM 33But if not, then listen to me; be quiet, and I will teach you wisdom.”
2HEAR O WISE [MEN] WORDS MY AND O [THOSE WHO] KNOW GIVE EAR TO ME 2“Hear my words, O wise men; give ear to me, O men of learning.
3FOR [THE] EAR WORDS IT TESTS AND [THE] PALATE IT TASTES TO EAT 3For the ear tests words as the mouth tastes food.
4JUSTICE LET US CHOOSE FOR OURSELVES LET US RECOGNIZE BETWEEN OURSELVES WHAT? [IS] GOOD 4Let us choose for ourselves what is right; let us learn together what is good.
5FOR HE HAS SAID JOB I AM RIGHTEOUS AND GOD HE HAS TAKEN AWAY RIGHT MY 5For Job has declared, ‘I am righteous, yet God has deprived me of justice.
6ON RIGHT MY WILL I LIE? [IS] INCURABLE ARROW MY NOT TRANSGRESSION 6Would I lie about my case? My wound is incurable, though I am without transgression.’
7WHO? [IS] A MAN LIKE JOB HE DRINKS MOCKERY LIKE <THE> WATER 7What man is like Job, who drinks up derision like water?
8AND HE TRAVELS FOR COMPANY WITH DOERS OF EVIL AND TO WALK WITH PEOPLE OF WICKEDNESS 8He keeps company with evildoers and walks with wicked men.
9FOR HE HAS SAID NOT IT PROFITS A MAN WHEN IS PLEASED HE WITH GOD 9For he has said, ‘It profits a man nothing that he should delight in God.’
10<TO> THEREFORE O PEOPLE OF HEART LISTEN TO ME FAR BE IT TO <THE> GOD FROM WICKEDNESS AND [THE] ALMIGHTY FROM UNRIGHTEOUSNESS 10Therefore listen to me, O men of understanding. Far be it from God to do wrong, and from the Almighty to act unjustly.
11FOR [THE] WORK OF A PERSON HE WILL REPAY TO HIM AND ACCORDING TO [THE] WAY OF A PERSON HE WILL MAKE FIND HIM 11For according to a man’s deeds He repays him; according to a man’s ways He brings consequences.
12ALSO TRULY GOD NOT HE ACTS WICKEDLY AND [THE] ALMIGHTY NOT HE PERVERTS JUSTICE 12Indeed, it is true that God does not act wickedly, and the Almighty does not pervert justice.
13WHO? DID HE ASSIGN ON HIM [THE] EARTH TOWARDS AND WHO? DID HE PUT [THE] WORLD ALL OF IT 13Who gave Him charge over the earth? Who appointed Him over the whole world?
14IF HE WILL SET TO IT HEART HIS SPIRIT HIS AND BREATH HIS TO HIMSELF HE WILL GATHER 14If He were to set His heart to it and withdraw His Spirit and breath,
15IT WILL EXPIRE ALL FLESH TOGETHER AND HUMANKIND TO DUST IT WILL RETURN 15all flesh would perish together and mankind would return to the dust.
16AND IF UNDERSTANDING HEAR! THIS GIVE EAR! TO [THE] SOUND OF WORDS MY 16If you have understanding, hear this; listen to my words.
17¿ ALSO [ONE WHO] HATES <OF> JUSTICE WILL HE GOVERN AND OR? [THE] RIGHTEOUS [ONE] [THE] MIGHTY [ONE] WILL YOU CONDEMN AS GUILTY 17Could one who hates justice govern? Will you condemn the just and mighty One,
18¿ TO SAY TO A KING WORTHLESS PERSON WICKED [ONE] TO NOBLE [PEOPLE] 18who says to kings, ‘You are worthless!’ and to nobles, ‘You are wicked,’
19WHO NOT HE LIFTS UP [THE] FACES OF PRINCES AND NOT HE REGARDS A RICH PERSON <TO> BEFORE A POOR [PERSON] FOR [ARE THE] WORK OF HANDS HIS ALL OF THEM 19who is not partial to princes and does not favor rich over poor? For they are all the work of His hands.
20A MOMENT THEY DIE AND [THE] MIDDLE OF [THE] NIGHT THEY ARE SHAKEN A PEOPLE SO THEY MAY PASS AWAY AND PEOPLE MAY REMOVE [THE] MIGHTY NOT BY A HAND 20They die in an instant, in the middle of the night. The people convulse and pass away; the mighty are removed without human hand.
21FOR EYES HIS [ARE] ON [THE] WAYS OF EVERYONE AND ALL STEPS HIS HE SEES 21For His eyes are on the ways of a man, and He sees his every step.
22THERE NOT [IS] DARKNESS AND THERE NOT [IS] DEEP DARKNESS TO HIDE THEMSELVES THERE [THOSE WHO] DO <OF> WICKEDNESS 22There is no darkness or deep shadow where the workers of iniquity can hide.
23FOR NOT ON A PERSON HE WILL APPOINT AGAIN TO GO TO GOD IN <THE> JUDGMENT 23For God need not examine a man further or have him approach for judgment.
24HE BREAKS MIGHTY [ONES] NOT INQUIRY AND HE APPOINTED OTHERS IN PLACE OF THEM 24He shatters the mighty without inquiry and sets up others in their place.
25<TO> THEREFORE HE IS ACQUAINTED WITH DEEDS THEIR AND HE OVERTHROWS [THEM] NIGHT SO THEY MAY BE CRUSHED 25Therefore, He recognizes their deeds; He overthrows them in the night and they are crushed.
26IN PLACE OF WICKED [PEOPLE] HE SLAPS THEM IN A PLACE OF [THOSE WHO] SEE 26He strikes them for their wickedness in full view,
27THAT THERE- -FORE THEY TURNED ASIDE FROM AFTER HIM AND ALL WAYS HIS NOT THEY CONSIDERED 27because they turned aside from Him and had no regard for any of His ways.
28TO CAUSE TO COME TO HIM [THE] OUTCRY OF [THE] POOR AND [THE] OUTCRY OF AFFLICTED [PEOPLE] HE HEARD 28They caused the cry of the poor to come before Him, and He heard the outcry of the afflicted.
29AND HE HE WILL KEEP QUIET AND WHO? WILL HE CONDEMN [HIM] AS GUILTY AND HE MAY HIDE FACE AND WHO? WILL HE OBSERVE HIM AND OVER A NATION AND OVER A PERSON ALIKE 29But when He remains silent, who can condemn Him? When He hides His face, who can see Him? Yet He watches over both man and nation,
30FROM REIGNING A PERSON GODLESS FROM SNARES OF A PEOPLE 30that godless men should not rule or lay snares for the people.
31FOR TO GOD ¿ HAS ANYONE SAID I HAVE BORNE NOT I WILL ACT CORRUPTLY 31Suppose someone says to God, ‘I have endured my punishment; I will offend no more.
32APART FROM [THAT WHICH] I SEE O YOU INSTRUCT ME IF UNRIGHTEOUSNESS I HAVE DONE NOT I WILL REPEAT 32Teach me what I cannot see; if I have done wrong, I will not do it again.’
33¿ FROM WITH <THE> YOU WILL HE REPAY IT IF YOU HAVE REJECTED FOR YOU YOU WILL CHOOSE AND NOT I AND WHAT? DO YOU KNOW SPEAK 33Should God repay you on your own terms when you have disavowed Him? You must choose, not I; so tell me what you know.
34PEOPLE OF HEART THEY WILL SAY TO ME AND A MAN WISE [WHO] LISTENS TO ME 34Men of understanding will declare to me, and the wise men who hear me will say:
35JOB NOT WITH KNOWLEDGE HE SPEAKS AND WORDS HIS NOT [ARE] WITH INSIGHT 35‘Job speaks without knowledge; his words lack insight.’
36WOULD THAT! HE WILL BE TESTED JOB UNTIL PERPETUITY ON ANSWERS AMONG PEOPLE OF WICKEDNESS 36If only Job were tried to the utmost for answering like a wicked man.
37FOR HE ADDS TO SIN HIS TRANSGRESSION BETWEEN US HE CLAPS AND HE MULTIPLIES WORDS HIS TO <THE> GOD 37For he adds rebellion to his sin; he claps his hands among us and multiplies his words against God.”
