2HERE! PLEASE I OPEN MOUTH MY IT SPEAKS TONGUE MY ON PALATE MY 2Behold, I will open my mouth; my address is on the tip of my tongue.
3[ARE] [THE] UPRIGHTNESS OF HEART MY WORDS MY AND [THE] KNOWLEDGE OF LIPS MY PURIFIED THEY SPEAK 3My words are from an upright heart, and my lips speak sincerely what I know.
4[THE] SPIRIT OF GOD IT HAS MADE ME AND [THE] BREATH OF [THE] ALMIGHTY IT GIVES LIFE ME 4The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.
5IF YOU WILL BE ABLE RESPOND TO ME ARRANGE! <TO> BEFORE ME TAKE YOUR STAND! 5Refute me if you can; prepare your case and confront me.
6HERE! I [AM] LIKE MOUTH YOUR TO <THE> GOD FROM CLAY I WAS NIPPED OFF ALSO I 6I am just like you before God; I was also formed from clay.
7HERE! DREAD OF ME NOT IT WILL TERRIFY YOU AND PRESSURE MY ON YOU NOT IT WILL BE HEAVY 7Surely no fear of me should terrify you; nor will my hand be heavy upon you.
8SURELY YOU HAVE SPOKEN IN EARS MY AND [THE] SOUND OF WORDS I HEARD 8Surely you have spoken in my hearing, and I have heard these very words:
9[AM] PURE I NOT TRANSGRESSION [AM] INNOCENT I AND NOT INIQUITY [BELONGS] TO ME 9‘I am pure, without transgression; I am clean, with no iniquity in me.
10HERE! OCCASIONS ON ME HE FINDS HE CONSIDERS ME TO AN ENEMY OF HIM 10Yet God finds occasions against me; He counts me as His enemy.
11HE PUTS IN THE STOCK[S] FEET MY HE WATCHES ALL PATHS MY 11He puts my feet in the stocks; He watches over all my paths.’
12HERE! THIS NOT YOU ARE IN [THE] RIGHT I WILL ANSWER YOU FOR HE IS GREAT GOD MORE THAN A HUMAN 12Behold, you are not right in this matter. I will answer you, for God is greater than man.
13WHY? AGAINST HIM HAVE YOU CONTENDED THAT ALL WORDS HIS NOT HE ANSWERS 13Why do you complain to Him that He answers nothing a man asks?*NoteCloseOr that He answers for none of His actions
14FOR ON ONE [OCCASION] HE SPEAKS GOD AND ON TWO [OCCASIONS] NOT ANYONE PERCEIVES IT 14For God speaks in one way and in another, yet no one notices.
15IN A DREAM A VISION OF [THE] NIGHT WHEN FALLS DEEP SLEEP ON PEOPLE IN SLUMBER<S> ON A BED 15In a dream, in a vision in the night, when deep sleep falls upon men as they slumber on their beds,
16THEN HE WILL UNCOVER [THE] EAR OF PEOPLE AND WITH DISCIPLINE THEIR HE WILL SEAL 16He opens their ears and terrifies them with warnings
17TO TURN ASIDE A PERSON A DEED AND PRIDE FROM A MAN HE WILL COVER 17to turn a man from wrongdoing and keep him from pride,
18HE WILL KEEP BACK LIFE HIS FROM [THE] PIT AND LIFE HIS FROM PASSING AWAY BY <THE> MISSILE 18to preserve his soul from the Pit and his life from perishing by the sword.
19AND HE IS CHASTENED WITH PAIN ON BED HIS AND [THE] MULTITUDE OF BONES HIS [IS] CONSTANT 19A man is also chastened on his bed with pain and constant distress in his bones,
20AND IT LOATHES IT LIFE HIS BREAD AND SELF HIS FOOD OF DESIRE 20so that he detests his bread, and his soul loathes his favorite food.
21IT WASTES AWAY FLESH HIS FROM SIGHT AND THEY ARE LAID BARE BONES HIS [WHICH] NOT THEY WERE SEEN 21His flesh wastes away from sight, and his hidden bones protrude.
22AND IT DREW NEAR TO THE PIT SELF HIS AND LIFE HIS TO <THE> [THOSE WHO] BRING DEATH 22He draws near to the Pit, and his life to the messengers of death.
23IF THERE ON HIM [IS] AN ANGEL A MEDIATOR ONE OF A THOUSAND TO TELL TO ANYONE UPRIGHTNESS HIS 23Yet if there is a messenger on his side, one mediator in a thousand, to tell a man what is right for him,
24AND HE SHOWED FAVOR TO HIM AND HE SAID DELIVER HIM FROM GOING DOWN [THE] PIT I HAVE FOUND A RANSOM 24to be gracious to him and say, ‘Spare him from going down to the Pit; I have found his ransom,’
25IT GROWS FRESH FLESH HIS MORE THAN YOUTH HE RETURNS TO [THE] DAYS OF YOUTH<S> HIS 25then his flesh is refreshed like a child’s; he returns to the days of his youth.
26HE PRAYS TO GOD AND HE ACCEPTED HIM AND HE SAW FACE HIS WITH A SHOUT OF JOY AND HE RESTORED TO A PERSON RIGHTEOUSNESS HIS 26He prays to God and finds favor; he sees God’s face and shouts for joy, and God restores His righteousness to that man.
27HE WATCHES OVER PEOPLE AND HE SAID I HAVE SINNED AND UPRIGHT[NESS] I HAVE PERVERTED AND NOT IT WAS EQUAL TO ME 27Then he sings before*NoteCloseOr Then he looks upon men with these words: ‘I have sinned and perverted what was right; yet I did not get what I deserved
28HE HAS RANSOMED SELF HIS FROM PASSING ON IN THE PIT AND LIFE HIS ON THE LIGHT IT WILL LOOK 28He redeemed my soul from going down to the Pit, and I will live to see the light.’
29HERE! ALL THESE [THINGS] HE DOES GOD TWO TIMES THREE [TIMES] WITH A MAN 29Behold, all these things God does to a man, two or even three times,
30TO BRING BACK SELF HIS FROM [THE] PIT TO BE LIGHTED UP BY [THE] LIGHT OF <THE> LIFE 30to bring back his soul from the Pit, that he may be enlightened with the light of life.
31PAY ATTENTION O JOB LISTEN TO ME KEEP QUIET AND I I WILL SPEAK 31Pay attention, Job, and listen to me; be silent, and I will speak.
32IF THERE [ARE] WORDS RESPOND TO ME SPEAK FOR I DESIRE TO JUSTIFY YOU 32But if you have something to say, answer me; speak up, for I would like to vindicate you.
33IF NOT YOU LISTEN TO ME KEEP QUIET AND I WILL TEACH YOU WISDOM 33But if not, then listen to me; be quiet, and I will teach you wisdom.”
