26NOT I AM AT EASE AND NOT I AM AT PEACE AND NOT I AM AT REST AND IT HAS COME TURMOIL 26I am not at ease or quiet; I have no rest, for trouble has come.”
1AND HE ANSWERED ELIPHAZ THE TEMANITE AND HE SAID Eliphaz: The Innocent Prosper 1Then Eliphaz the Temanite replied:
2¿ DID SOMEONE ATTEMPT A WORD TO YOU WILL YOU BE IMPATIENT? AND TO RESTRAIN <IN> WORDS WHO? IS HE ABLE 2“If one ventures a word with you, will you be wearied? Yet who can keep from speaking?
3THERE! YOU HAVE INSTRUCTED MANY [PEOPLE] AND HANDS SLACK YOU STRENGTHENED 3Surely you have instructed many, and have strengthened their feeble hands.
4[THE] STUMBLING THEY RAISED! WORDS YOUR AND KNEES BENDING YOU STRENGTHENED 4Your words have steadied those who stumbled; you have braced the knees that were buckling.
5FOR NOW IT COMES TO YOU AND YOU HAVE BECOME IMPATIENT IT REACHES TO YOU AND YOU HAVE BECOME DISMAYED 5But now trouble has come upon you, and you are weary. It strikes you, and you are dismayed.
6¿ NOT [IS] FEAR YOUR CONFIDENCE YOUR HOPE YOUR AND [THE] INTEGRITY OF WAYS YOUR 6Is your reverence not your confidence, and the uprightness of your ways your hope?
7REMEMBER PLEASE WHO? THAT INNOCENT DID HE PERISH AND WHERE? UPRIGHT [PEOPLE] WERE THEY DESTROYED 7Consider now, I plead: Who, being innocent, has ever perished? Or where have the upright been destroyed?
8JUST AS I HAVE SEEN PLOWERS OF WICKEDNESS AND SOWERS OF MISCHIEF THEY HARVEST IT 8As I have observed, those who plow iniquity and those who sow trouble reap the same.
9FROM [THE] BREATH OF GOD THEY PERISH AND FROM [THE] BREATH OF ANGER HIS THEY COME TO AN END 9By the breath of God they perish, and by the blast of His anger they are consumed.
10[THE] ROARING OF A LION AND [THE] SOUND OF A LION AND [THE] TEETH OF YOUNG LIONS THEY ARE BROKEN OUT 10The lion may roar, and the fierce lion may growl, yet the teeth of the young lions are broken.
11A LION [IS] PERISHING BECAUSE NOT PREY AND [THE] YOUNG OF A LION THEY ARE SCATTERED 11The old lion perishes for lack of prey, and the cubs of the lioness are scattered.
12AND TO ME A WORD IT WAS BROUGHT SECRETLY AND IT RECEIVED EAR MY A WHISPER OF IT 12Now a word came to me secretly; my ears caught a whisper of it.
13IN DISQUIETING THOUGHTS FROM VISIONS OF [THE] NIGHT WHEN FALLS DEEP SLEEP ON PEOPLE 13In disquieting visions in the night, when deep sleep falls on men,
14FEAR IT HAPPENED TO ME AND TREMBLING AND [THE] MULTITUDE OF BONES MY IT CAUSED TO TREMBLE 14fear and trembling came over me and made all my bones shudder.
15AND A WIND OVER FACE MY IT PASSED OVER IT MADE BRISTLE [THE] HAIR OF FLESH MY 15Then a spirit*NoteCloseOr a wind glided past my face, and the hair on my body bristled.
16IT STOOD STILL AND NOT I RECOGNIZED APPEARANCE ITS A FORM [WAS] TO BEFORE EYES MY A WHISPER AND A VOICE I HEARD 16It stood still, but I could not discern its appearance; a form loomed before my eyes, and I heard a whispering voice:
17¿ A PERSON FROM GOD WILL HE BE RIGHTEOUS OR? FROM MAKER HIS WILL HE BE PURE A MAN 17‘Can a mortal be more righteous than God, or a man more pure than his Maker?
18THERE! IN SERVANTS HIS NOT HE TRUSTS AND AGAINST MESSENGERS HIS HE CHARGES ERROR 18If God puts no trust in His servants, and He charges His angels with error,
19ALSO [THOSE WHO] DWELL OF HOUSES OF CLAY WHICH [IS] IN THE DUST FOUNDATION THEIR PEOPLE CRUSH THEM <TO> BEFORE A MOTH 19how much more those who dwell in houses of clay, whose foundations are in the dust, who can be crushed like a moth!
20FROM MORNING TO <THE> EVENING THEY ARE CRUSHED TO PIECES BECAUSE NOT [ONE WHO] SETS TO PERPETUITY THEY PERISH 20They are smashed to pieces from dawn to dusk; unnoticed, they perish forever.
21¿ NOT HAS IT BEEN PULLED UP TENT CORD THEIR IN THEM WILL THEY DIE? AND NOT WITH WISDOM 21Are not their tent cords pulled up, so that they die without wisdom?’ [’’]
