57AND <OBJ.> ALL [THE] EVIL OF [THE] MEN OF SHECHEM HE REPAID GOD ON HEAD THEIR AND IT CAME TO THEM [THE] CURSE OF JOTHAM [THE] SON OF JERUB-BAAL 57And God also brought all the wickedness of the men of Shechem back upon their own heads. So the curse of Jotham son of Jerubbaal came upon them.
1AND HE AROSE AFTER ABIMELECH TO DELIVER <OBJ.> ISRAEL TOLA [THE] SON OF PUAH [THE] SON OF DODO <THE> MAN OF ISSACHAR AND HE [WAS] DWELLING IN SHAMIR IN [THE] HILL COUNTRY OF EPHRAIM Tola 1After the time of Abimelech, a man of Issachar, Tola son of Puah, the son of Dodo, rose up to save Israel He lived in Shamir, in the hill country of Ephraim.

4AND IT BELONGED TO <THE> HIM THIRTY SONS [WHO] RODE ON THIRTY DONKEYS AND THIRTY CITIES [BELONGED] TO <THE> THEM <TO> <THE> THEM PEOPLE CALL HAVVOTH JAIR UNTIL THE DAY <THE> THIS WHICH [ARE] IN [THE] LAND OF <THE> GILEAD 4He had thirty sons who rode on thirty donkeys. 6AND THEY REPEATED [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL TO DO THE EVIL IN [THE] EYES OF YAHWEH AND THEY SERVED <OBJ.> THE BAALS AND <OBJ.> THE ASHTAROTH AND <OBJ.> [THE] GODS OF ARAM AND <OBJ.> [THE] GODS OF SIDON AND <OBJ.> [THE] GODS OF MOAB AND <OBJ.> [THE] GODS OF [THE] PEOPLE OF AMMON AND <OBJ.> [THE] GODS OF [THE] PHILISTINES AND THEY FORSOOK <OBJ.> YAHWEH AND NOT THEY SERVED HIM Oppression by the Philistines and Ammonites 6And again the Israelites did evil in the sight of the LORD. They served the Baals, the Ashtoreths, the gods of Aram, Sidon, and Moab, and the gods of the Ammonites and Philistines. Thus they forsook the LORD and did not serve Him.
7AND IT BURNED [THE] ANGER OF YAHWEH ON ISRAEL AND HE SOLD THEM IN [THE] HAND OF [THE] PHILISTINES AND IN [THE] HAND OF [THE] PEOPLE OF AMMON 7So the anger of the LORD burned against Israel, and He sold them into the hands of the Philistines and Ammonites,
8AND THEY SHATTERED AND THEY CRUSHED <OBJ.> [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL IN THE YEAR <THE> THAT EIGHT- TEEN YEAR[S] <OBJ.> ALL [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL WHO [WERE] ON [THE] OTHER SIDE OF THE JORDAN IN [THE] LAND OF THE AMORITE[S] WHICH [IS] IN <THE> GILEAD 8who that very year harassed and oppressed the Israelites, and they did so for eighteen years to all the Israelites on the other side of the Jordan in Gilead, the land of the Amorites.
9AND THEY PASSED OVER [THE] PEOPLE OF AMMON <OBJ.> THE JORDAN TO FIGHT ALSO AGAINST JUDAH AND AGAINST BENJAMIN AND AGAINST [THE] HOUSE OF EPHRAIM AND IT WAS DISTRESS TO ISRAEL EXCEEDINGLY 9The Ammonites also crossed the Jordan to fight against Judah, Benjamin, and the house of Ephraim, and Israel was in deep distress.
10AND THEY CRIED OUT [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL TO YAHWEH <TO> SAYING WE HAVE SINNED TO <THE> YOU AND FOR WE HAVE FORSAKEN <OBJ.> GOD OUR AND WE HAVE SERVED <OBJ.> THE BAALS 10Then the Israelites cried out to the LORD, saying, “We have sinned against You, for we have indeed forsaken our God and served the Baals.”
11AND HE SAID YAHWEH TO [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL ¿ NOT FROM EGYPT AND FROM THE AMORITE[S] AND FROM [THE] PEOPLE OF AMMON AND FROM [THE] PHILISTINES 11The LORD replied “When the Egyptians, Amorites, Ammonites Philistines,
12AND [THE] SIDONIANS AND AMALEK AND MAON THEY OPPRESSED <OBJ.> YOU AND YOU CRIED OUT TO ME AND I DELIVERED! <OBJ.> YOU FROM HAND THEIR 12Sidonians, Amalekites, and Maonites*NoteCloseHebrew; some LXX manuscripts Midianites oppressed you and you cried out to Me, did I not save you from their hands?
13AND YOU YOU HAVE FORSAKEN <OBJ.> ME AND YOU HAVE SERVED GODS OTHER <TO> THEREFORE NOT I WILL REPEAT TO DELIVER <OBJ.> YOU 13But you have forsaken Me and served other gods, so I will no longer save you.
14GO AND CRY OUT TO THE GODS WHICH YOU HAVE CHOSEN <IN> <THE> THEM THEY LET THEM DELIVER <TO> <THE> YOU AT [THE] TIME OF DISTRESS YOUR 14Go and cry out to the gods you have chosen Let them save you in your time of trouble.”
15AND THEY SAID [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL TO YAHWEH WE HAVE SINNED DO YOU TO <THE> US ACCORDING TO ALL THE GOOD IN VIEW YOUR ONLY DELIVER US PLEASE THE DAY <THE> THIS 15“We have sinned,” the Israelites said to the LORD. “Deal with us as You see fit; but please deliver us today
16AND THEY REMOVED <OBJ.> [THE] GODS OF <THE> FOREIGNNESS FROM MIDST THEIR AND THEY SERVED <OBJ.> YAHWEH AND IT WAS SHORT SELF HIS AT [THE] TROUBLE OF ISRAEL 16So they put away the foreign gods from among them and served the LORD, and He could no longer bear the misery of Israel.
17AND THEY WERE SUMMONED [THE] PEOPLE OF AMMON AND THEY ENCAMPED IN <THE> GILEAD AND THEY GATHERED [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL AND THEY ENCAMPED AT <THE> MIZPAH 17Then the Ammonites were called to arms and camped in Gilead, and the Israelites assembled and camped at Mizpah.
18AND THEY SAID THE PEOPLE [THE] LEADERS OF GILEAD EACH TO NEIGHBOR HIS WHO? [IS] THE MAN WHO HE WILL BEGIN TO FIGHT AGAINST [THE] PEOPLE OF AMMON HE WILL BECOME <INTO> CHIEF OF ALL [THE] INHABITANTS OF GILEAD 18And the rulers of Gilead said to one another, “Whoever will launch the attack against the Ammonites will be the head of all who live in Gilead.”
