34NOT THEREFORE SHALL YOU BE ANXIOUS ABOUT THE [THINGS] TOMORROW; <THE> FOR TOMORROW WILL BE ANXIOUS ABOUT <THE> ITSELF. SUFFICIENT TO THE DAY [IS] THE TROUBLE OF IT. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own. [’’]
1NOT DO JUDGE THAT NOT YOU MAY BE JUDGED; Judging Others (Luke 6:37–42; Romans 14:1–12) 1“Do not judge, or you will be judged.
2WITH WHATEVER FOR VERDICT YOU JUDGE, YOU WILL BE JUDGED; AND WITH WHATEVER MEASURE YOU MEASURE, IT WILL BE MEASURED TO YOU. 2For with the same judgment you pronounce, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
3WHY NOW DO YOU LOOK AT THE SPLINTER THAT [IS] IN THE EYE OF THE BROTHER OF YOU, <THE> AND IN <THE> YOUR [OWN] EYE A BEAM NOT NOTICE? 3Why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye but fail to notice the beam in your own eye?
4OR HOW WILL YOU SAY TO THE BROTHER OF YOU; DO PERMIT THAT I MAY CAST OUT THE SPLINTER FROM THE EYE OF YOU; AND BEHOLD THE BEAM [IS] IN THE EYE OF YOU? 4How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ while there is still a beam in your own eye?
5HYPOCRITE! DO CAST OUT FIRST FROM THE EYE OF YOU THE BEAM, AND THEN YOU WILL SEE CLEARLY TO CAST OUT THE SPLINTER FROM THE EYE OF THE BROTHER OF YOU. 5You hypocrite! First take the beam out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
6NOT SHALL GIVE THAT WHICH [IS] HOLY TO THE DOGS NOR SHALL CAST THE PEARLS OF YOU BEFORE THE PIGS OTHERWISE THEY WILL TRAMPLE UPON THEM WITH THE FEET OF THEM, AND HAVING TURNED THEY MAY TEAR TO PIECES YOU. 6Do not give dogs what is holy; do not throw your pearls before swine. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces.
7DO ASK AND IT WILL BE GIVEN TO YOU; DO SEEK AND YOU WILL FIND; DO KNOCK AND IT WILL BE OPENED TO YOU. Ask, Seek, Knock (Luke 11:5–13) 7Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.
8EVERYONE FOR WHO IS ASKING RECEIVES, AND THE [ONE] SEEKING FINDS, AND TO THE [ONE] KNOCKING IT WILL BE OPENED. 8For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.
9OR WHICH IS OF YOU A MAN WHOM IF HE WILL ASK FOR THE SON OF HIM BREAD, SURELY NOT A STONE WILL HE GIVE TO HIM? 9Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?
10OR ALSO IF A FISH HE WILL ASK FOR, SURELY NOT A SERPENT WILL HE GIVE TO HIM? 10Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake?
11IF THEREFORE YOU YOURSELVES EVIL BEING YOU KNOW GIFTS GOOD TO GIVE TO THE CHILDREN OF YOU, HOW MUCH MORE THE FATHER OF YOU WHO [IS] IN THE HEAVENS WILL GIVE GOOD THINGS TO THOSE ASKING HIM? 11So if you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
12ALL THINGS THEREFORE AS MUCH AS MAYBE YOU SHALL DESIRE THAT THEY SHALL ENACT FOR YOU THE MEN, SO ALSO YOU YOURSELVES DO ENACT FOR THEM; THIS FOR IS THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS. 12In everything, then, do to others as you would have them do to you. For this is the essence of the Law and the Prophets.
13DO ENTER THROUGH THE NARROW GATE, FOR WIDE [IS] THE GATE AND BROAD THE WAY WHICH IS LEADING TO <THE> DESTRUCTION, AND MANY ARE THOSE ENTERING THROUGH IT. The Narrow Gate (Luke 13:22–30) 13Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.
14WHICH SMALL [IS] THE GATE AND COMPRESSED THE WAY WHICH IS LEADING TO <THE> LIFE, AND FEW ARE THOSE FINDING IT. 14But small is the gate and narrow the way that leads to life, and only a few find it.
15DO BEWARE NOW OF THE FALSE PROPHETS WHO COME TO YOU IN CLOTHING OF SHEEP, INWARDLY HOWEVER THEY ARE WOLVES RAVENOUS. A Tree and Its Fruit (Luke 6:43–45) 15Beware of false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.
16BY THE FRUITS OF THEM YOU WILL KNOW THEM. SURELY NOT EVER DO THEY GATHER FROM THORNS GRAPES, OR FROM THISTLES FIGS? 16By their fruit you will recognize them. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?
17THUS EVERY TREE GOOD FRUITS GOOD PRODUCES, <THE> BUT THE BAD TREE FRUITS BAD PRODUCES. 17Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.
18NOT IS ABLE A TREE GOOD FRUITS BAD TO PRODUCE NOR [IS ABLE] A TREE BAD FRUITS GOOD TO PRODUCE. 18A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.
19EVERY TREE NOT PRODUCING FRUIT GOOD IS CUT DOWN AND INTO FIRE IS THROWN. 19Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
20THEN SURELY BY THE FRUITS OF THEM YOU WILL KNOW THEM. 20So then, by their fruit you will recognize them.
21NOT EVERYONE WHO IS SAYING TO ME; LORD LORD, WILL ENTER INTO THE KINGDOM OF THE HEAVENS, BUT THE [ONE] DOING THE WILL OF THE FATHER OF MINE WHO [IS] IN THE HEAVENS. 21Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord, ’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
22MANY WILL SAY TO ME IN THAT [VERY] <THE> DAY; LORD LORD, SURELY <THE> IN YOUR NAME WE DID PROPHESY AND <THE> IN YOUR NAME DEMONS CAST OUT AND <THE> IN YOUR NAME MIRACLES MANY PERFORM? 22Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles? ’
23AND THEN I WILL DECLARE TO THEM THAT NEVER KNEW I YOU; DO DEPART FROM ME YOU WHO [ARE] WORKING <THE> LAWLESSNESS. 23Then I will tell them plainly ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness! ’
24EVERYONE THEREFORE WHOEVER HEARS MY <THE> WORDS THESE AND DOES THEM, HE WILL BE LIKE A MAN WISE WHO BUILT HIS <THE> HOUSE UPON THE ROCK. The House on the Rock (Luke 6:46–49) 24Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
25AND CAME DOWN THE RAIN AND CAME THE TORRENTS AND BLEW THE WINDS, AND BEAT THAT HOUSE UPON, AND NOT IT FELL; IT HAD BEEN FOUNDED FOR UPON THE ROCK. 25The rain fell, the torrents raged, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because its foundation was on the rock.
26AND EVERYONE WHO IS HEARING MY <THE> WORDS THESE AND NOT DOING THEM HE WILL BE LIKENED TO A MAN FOOLISH WHO BUILT OF HIM THE HOUSE UPON THE SAND. 26But everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.
27AND CAME DOWN THE RAIN AND CAME THE TORRENTS AND BLEW THE WINDS, AND BEAT THAT HOUSE UPON, AND IT FELL; AND WAS THE FALL OF IT GREAT. 27The rain fell, the torrents raged, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell— and great was its collapse! ”
28AND IT CAME TO PASS WHEN FINISHED <THE> JESUS <THE> WORDS THESE, WERE ASTONISHED THE CROWDS AT THE TEACHING OF HIM; The Authority of Jesus 28When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were astonished at His teaching,
29HE WAS FOR TEACHING THEM AS AUTHORITY HAVING AND NOT AS THE SCRIBES OF THEM. 29because He taught as one who had authority, and not as their scribes.
