3FROM A SON OF THIRTY YEAR[S] AND UP -WARDS AND TO A SON OF FIFTY YEAR[S] EVERY [ONE WHO] COMES FOR THE SERVICE TO DO WORK IN [THE] TENT OF MEETING 3men from thirty to fifty years old everyone who is qualified to serve in the work at the Tent of Meeting.
4THIS [IS] [THE] SERVICE OF [THE] DESCENDANTS OF KOHATH IN [THE] TENT OF MEETING [THE] HOLY THING OF THE HOLY THINGS 4This service of the Kohathites at the Tent of Meeting regards the most holy things.
5AND HE WILL GO AARON AND SONS HIS WHEN SETS OUT THE CAMP AND THEY WILL TAKE DOWN <OBJ.> [THE] CURTAIN OF THE SCREEN AND THEY WILL COVER WITH <THE> IT <OBJ.> [THE] ARK OF THE TESTIMONY 5Whenever the camp sets out, Aaron and his sons are to go in, take down the veil of the curtain, and cover the ark of the Testimony*NoteCloseThat is, the ark of the covenant with it.
6AND THEY WILL PUT OVER IT A COVERING OF SKIN OF DOLPHIN AND THEY WILL SPREAD OUT A COVERING OF AN ENTIRETY OF VIOLET STUFF FROM TO ABOVE <TOWARDS> AND THEY WILL PUT IN POLES ITS 6They are to place over this a covering of fine leather,*NoteClosePossibly the hides of large aquatic mammals; also in verses 8, 10, 11, 12, 14, and 25; see Exodus 25:5. spread a solid blue cloth over it, and insert its poles.
7AND OVER [THE] TABLE OF THE PRESENCE THEY WILL SPREAD OUT A COVERING OF VIOLET STUFF AND THEY WILL PUT ON IT <OBJ.> THE DISHES AND <OBJ.> THE PANS AND <OBJ.> THE BOWLS AND <OBJ.> [THE] JUGS OF THE DRINK OFFERING AND [THE] BREAD OF <THE> CONTINUITY ON IT IT WILL BE 7Over the table of the Presence they are to spread a blue cloth and place the plates and cups on it, along with the bowls and pitchers for the drink offering. The regular bread offering is to remain on it.
8AND THEY WILL SPREAD OUT OVER THEM A COVERING OF SCARLET STUFF OF SCARLET AND THEY WILL COVER <OBJ.> IT WITH A COVERING OF SKIN OF DOLPHIN AND THEY WILL PUT IN <OBJ.> POLES ITS 8And they shall spread a scarlet cloth over them, cover them with fine leather, and insert the poles.
9AND THEY WILL TAKE A COVERING OF VIOLET STUFF AND THEY WILL COVER <OBJ.> [THE] LAMPSTAND OF THE LIGHT AND <OBJ.> LAMPS ITS AND <OBJ.> TONGS ITS AND <OBJ.> FIRE-PANS ITS AND <OBJ.> ALL [THE] VESSELS OF OIL ITS WHICH THEY WILL SERVE <TO> <THE> IT BY <THE> THEM 9They are to take a blue cloth and cover the lampstand used for light, together with its lamps, wick trimmers, and trays, as well as the jars of oil with which to supply it.
10AND THEY WILL PUT <OBJ.> IT AND <OBJ.> ALL ARTICLES ITS INTO A COVERING OF SKIN OF DOLPHIN AND THEY WILL PUT [IT] ON THE CARRYING FRAME 10Then they shall wrap it and all its utensils inside a covering of fine leather and put it on the carrying frame.
11AND OVER [THE] ALTAR OF <THE> GOLD THEY WILL SPREAD OUT A COVERING OF VIOLET STUFF AND THEY WILL COVER <OBJ.> IT WITH A COVERING OF SKIN OF DOLPHIN AND THEY WILL PUT IN <OBJ.> POLES ITS 11Over the gold altar they are to spread a blue cloth, cover it with fine leather, and insert the poles.
12AND THEY WILL TAKE <OBJ.> ALL [THE] ARTICLES OF <THE> SERVICE WHICH THEY WILL SERVE BY <THE> THEM IN THE HOLY PLACE AND THEY WILL PUT [THEM] INTO A COVERING OF VIOLET STUFF AND THEY WILL COVER <OBJ.> THEM WITH A COVERING OF SKIN OF DOLPHIN AND THEY WILL PUT [THEM] ON THE CARRYING FRAME 12They are to take all the utensils for serving in the sanctuary, place them in a blue cloth, cover them with fine leather, and put them on the carrying frame.
13AND THEY WILL TAKE AWAY [THE] ASHES FROM <OBJ.> THE ALTAR AND THEY WILL SPREAD OUT OVER IT A COVERING OF PURPLE CLOTH 13Then they shall remove the ashes from the bronze altar, spread a purple cloth over it,
14AND THEY WILL PUT ON IT <OBJ.> ALL ARTICLES ITS WHICH THEY WILL SERVE AT IT BY <THE> THEM <OBJ.> THE FIRE-PANS <OBJ.> THE FORKS AND <OBJ.> THE SHOVELS AND <OBJ.> THE BOWLS ALL [THE] ARTICLES OF THE ALTAR AND THEY WILL SPREAD OUT OVER IT A COVERING OF SKIN OF DOLPHIN AND THEY WILL PUT IN POLES ITS 14and place on it all the vessels used to serve there the firepans, meat forks, shovels, and sprinkling bowls— all the equipment of the altar. They are to spread over it a covering of fine leather and insert the poles.
15AND HE WILL FINISH AARON AND SONS HIS TO COVER <OBJ.> THE HOLY PLACE AND <OBJ.> ALL [THE] ARTICLES OF THE HOLY PLACE WHEN SETS OUT THE CAMP AND AFTER THUS THEY WILL COME [THE] DESCENDANTS OF KOHATH TO CARRY [THEM] AND NOT THEY WILL TOUCH <TO> THE HOLY THING AND THEY WILL DIE THESE [THINGS] [ARE] [THE] BURDEN OF [THE] DESCENDANTS OF KOHATH IN [THE] TENT OF MEETING 15When Aaron and his sons have finished covering the holy objects and all their equipment as soon as the camp is ready to move, the Kohathites shall come and do the carrying. But they must not touch the holy objects, or they will die. These are the transportation duties of the Kohathites regarding the Tent of Meeting.
16AND [THE] OVERSIGHT OF ELEAZAR [THE] SON OF AARON THE PRIEST [IS] [THE] OIL OF THE LIGHT AND [THE] INCENSE OF THE PERFUME<S> AND [THE] GRAIN OFFERING OF <THE> CONTINUITY AND [THE] OIL OF <THE> ANOINTING [THE] OVERSIGHT OF ALL THE TABERNACLE AND ALL THAT [IS] IN <THE> IT WITH [THE] HOLY PLACE AND WITH EQUIPMENT<S> ITS 16Eleazar son of Aaron the priest shall oversee the oil for the light, the fragrant incense, the daily grain offering, and the anointing oil. He has oversight of the entire tabernacle and everything in it, including the holy objects and their utensils.”
18MAY NOT YOU CUT OFF <OBJ.> [THE] TRIBE OF [THE] CLANS OF THE KOHATHITE[S] FROM AMONG THE LEVITES 18“Do not allow the Kohathite tribal clans to be cut off from among the Levites.
19AND THIS DO FOR <THE> THEM AND THEY WILL LIVE AND NOT THEY WILL DIE WHEN DRAW NEAR THEY <OBJ.> [THE] HOLY THING OF THE HOLY THINGS AARON AND SONS HIS THEY WILL GO AND THEY WILL APPOINT <OBJ.> THEM A MAN A MAN ON SERVICE HIS AND TO BURDEN HIS 19In order that they may live and not die when they come near the most holy things, do this for them: Aaron and his sons are to go in and assign each man his task and what he is to carry.
20AND NOT THEY WILL GO TO SEE AS A SWALLOWING <OBJ.> THE HOLY THING AND THEY WILL DIE 20But the Kohathites are not to go in and look at the holy objects, even for a moment, or they will die.”

26AND <OBJ.> [THE] CURTAINS OF THE COURTYARD AND <OBJ.> [THE] SCREEN OF [THE] ENTRANCE OF [THE] GATE OF THE COURTYARD WHICH [IS] AT THE TABERNACLE AND AT THE ALTAR ALL AROUND AND <OBJ.> ROPES THEIR AND <OBJ.> ALL [THE] ARTICLES OF SERVICE THEIR AND <OBJ.> ALL THAT IT WILL BE DONE FOR <THE> THEM AND THEY WILL SERVE 26the curtains of the courtyard, and the curtains for the entrance at the gate of the courtyard that surrounds the tabernacle and altar, along with their ropes and all the equipment for their service. The Gershonites will do all that needs to be done with these items.
27ON [THE] MOUTH OF AARON AND SONS HIS IT WILL BE ALL [THE] SERVICE OF [THE] DESCENDANTS OF THE GERSHONITE[S] FOR ALL CARRYING THEIR AND FOR ALL SERVICE THEIR AND YOU WILL ASSIGN TO THEM <IN> A DUTY <OBJ.> ALL CARRYING THEIR 27All the service of the Gershonites all their transport duties and other work— is to be done at the direction of Aaron and his sons; you are to assign to them all that they are responsible to carry.
28THIS [IS] [THE] SERVICE OF [THE] CLANS OF [THE] DESCENDANTS OF THE GERSHONITE[S] IN [THE] TENT OF MEETING AND DUTY THEIR [IS] IN [THE] HAND OF ITHAMAR [THE] SON OF AARON THE PRIEST 28This is the service of the Gershonite clans at the Tent of Meeting, and their duties shall be under the direction of Ithamar son of Aaron the priest.
29[THE] DESCENDANTS OF MERARI TO CLANS THEIR TO [THE] HOUSE OF ANCESTORS THEIR YOU WILL ENROLL <OBJ.> THEM The Duties of the Merarites (Numbers 3:33–37; 1 Chronicles 23:21–23) 29As for the sons of Merari, you are to number them by their clans and families,

32AND [THE] PILLARS OF THE COURTYARD ALL AROUND AND BASES THEIR AND TENT PEGS THEIR AND ROPES THEIR TO ALL ARTICLES THEIR AND TO ALL SERVICE THEIR AND BY NAMES YOU WILL ASSIGN <OBJ.> [THE] EQUIPMENT<S> OF [THE] DUTY OF CARRYING THEIR 32and the posts of the surrounding courtyard with their bases, tent pegs, and ropes, including all their equipment and everything related to their use. You shall assign by name the items that they are responsible to carry.

37THESE [WERE] [THE] ENROLLED [MEN] OF [THE] CLANS OF THE KOHATHITE[S] EVERY <THE> [ONE WHO] SERVES IN [THE] TENT OF MEETING WHOM HE ENROLLED MOSES AND AARON ON [THE] MOUTH OF YAHWEH BY [THE] HAND OF MOSES 37These were counted from the Kohathite clans, everyone who could serve at the Tent of Meeting. Moses and Aaron numbered them according to the command of the LORD through Moses.
38AND [THE] ENROLLED [MEN] OF [THE] DESCENDANTS OF GERSHON TO CLANS THEIR AND TO [THE] HOUSE OF ANCESTORS THEIR 38Then the Gershonites were numbered by their clans and families,
