2<TO> BEFORE EPHRAIM AND BENJAMIN AND MANASSEH STIR UP! <OBJ.> MIGHT YOUR AND COME! FOR SALVATION OF US 2before Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh. Rally Your mighty power and come to save us.
3O GOD RESTORE US AND MAKE SHINE FACE YOUR SO LET US BE DELIVERED 3Restore us, O God, and cause Your face to shine upon us, that we may be saved.
4O YAHWEH GOD OF HOSTS UNTIL WHEN? HAVE YOU SMOKED AT [THE] PRAYER OF PEOPLE YOUR 4O LORD God of Hosts, how long will Your anger smolder against the prayers of Your people?
5YOU HAVE FED THEM BREAD OF TEAR[S] AND YOU HAVE MADE DRINK THEM <IN> TEARS A THIRD OF A MEASURE 5You fed them with the bread of tears and made them drink the full measure of their tears.
6YOU MAKE US A CONTENTION TO NEIGHBORS OUR AND ENEMIES OUR THEY MOCK <TO> THEMSELVES 6You make us contend with our neighbors; our enemies mock us.
7O GOD OF HOSTS RESTORE US AND MAKE SHINE FACE YOUR SO LET US BE DELIVERED 7Restore us, O God of Hosts, and cause Your face to shine upon us, that we may be saved.
8A VINE FROM EGYPT YOU UPROOTED YOU DROVE OUT NATIONS AND YOU PLANTED IT 8You uprooted a vine from Egypt; You drove out the nations and transplanted it.
9YOU MADE CLEAR <TO> BEFORE IT AND IT TOOK ROOT ROOTS ITS AND IT FILLED [THE] LAND 9You cleared the ground for it, and it took root and filled the land.
10THEY WERE COVERED MOUNTAINS SHADE ITS AND BRANCHES ITS [THE] CEDARS OF GOD 10The mountains were covered by its shade, and the mighty cedars with its branches.
11IT STRETCHED OUT BRANCH[ES] ITS TO [THE] SEA AND TO [THE] RIVER YOUNG SHOOTS ITS 11It sent out its branches to the Sea,*NoteCloseThat is, the Mediterranean Sea, also called the Great Sea and its shoots toward the River.*NoteCloseThat is, the Euphrates
12<TO> WHY? HAVE YOU BROKEN DOWN WALLS ITS AND THEY HAVE PLUCKED IT ALL [THOSE WHO] PASS BY OF [THE] ROAD 12Why have You broken down its walls, so that all who pass by pick its fruit?
13IT EATS AWAY IT WILD BOAR FROM [THE] FOREST AND MOVING CREATURE[S] OF [THE] FIELD IT GRAZES ON IT 13The boar from the forest ravages it, and the creatures of the field feed upon it.
14O GOD OF HOSTS RETURN PLEASE PAY ATTENTION FROM HEAVEN AND SEE AND ATTEND TO VINE THIS 14Return, O God of Hosts, we pray! Look down from heaven and see! Attend to this vine—
15AND [THE] ROOT WHICH IT PLANTED RIGHT [HAND] YOUR AND ON [THE] SON [WHOM] YOU MADE STRONG FOR YOURSELF 15the root Your right hand has planted, the son You have raised up for Yourself.
16[IT IS] BURNED WITH <THE> FIRE [IT IS] CUT DOWN FROM [THE] REBUKE OF FACE YOUR THEY WILL PERISH 16Your vine has been cut down and burned; they perish at the rebuke of Your countenance.
17MAY IT BE HAND YOUR ON [THE] MAN OF RIGHT [HAND] YOUR ON [THE] SON OF HUMANKIND [WHOM] YOU HAVE MADE STRONG FOR YOURSELF 17Let Your hand be upon the man at Your right hand, on the son of man You have raised up for Yourself.
18AND NOT WE WILL TURN BACK FROM YOU YOU WILL GIVE LIFE US AND ON NAME YOUR WE WILL CALL 18Then we will not turn away from You; revive us, and we will call on Your name.
