43AND THEY WENT ALL THE PEOPLE EVERYONE TO HOUSE HIS AND HE TURNED DAVID TO BLESS <OBJ.> HOUSE HIS 43Then all the people departed for their homes, and David returned home to bless his household.
1AND IT WAS JUST WHEN HE DWELT DAVID IN HOUSE HIS AND HE SAID DAVID TO NATHAN THE PROPHET HERE! I [AM] DWELLING IN [THE] HOUSE OF <THE> CEDAR<S> AND [THE] ARK OF [THE] COVENANT OF YAHWEH [IS] UNDER TENT CURTAINS God’s Covenant with David (2 Samuel 7:1–17) 1After David had settled into his palace, he said to Nathan the prophet, “Here I am, living in a house of cedar, while the ark of the covenant of the LORD is under a tent.”
2AND HE SAID NATHAN TO DAVID ALL THAT [IS] IN HEART YOUR DO FOR <THE> GOD [IS] WITH YOU 2And Nathan replied to David, “Do all that is in your heart, for God is with you.”
3AND IT WAS IN THE NIGHT <THE> THAT AND IT CAME [THE] WORD OF GOD TO NATHAN <TO> SAYING 3But that night the word of God came to Nathan, saying,
4GO AND YOU WILL SAY TO DAVID SERVANT MY THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH NOT YOU YOU WILL BUILD FOR ME THE HOUSE TO DWELL IN 4“Go and tell My servant David that this is what the LORD says: You are not the one to build Me a house in which to dwell.
5FOR NOT I HAVE DWELT IN A HOUSE SINCE THE DAY WHEN I BROUGHT UP <OBJ.> ISRAEL UNTIL THE DAY <THE> THIS AND I HAVE BEEN FROM TENT TO TENT AND FROM TABERNACLE 5For I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought Israel up out of Egypt*NoteCloseOut of Egypt is implied, but not included in the Hebrew; see 2 Samuel 7:6. until this day, but I have moved from tent to tent and dwelling to dwelling.
6IN EVERY WHERE I WENT ABOUT IN ALL ISRAEL ¿ A WORD DID I SPEAK WITH ONE OF [THE] JUDGES OF ISRAEL WHOM I COMMANDED TO SHEPHERD <OBJ.> PEOPLE MY <TO> SAYING <TO> WHY? NOT HAVE YOU BUILT FOR ME A HOUSE OF CEDAR<S> 6In all My journeys with all the Israelites, have I ever asked any of the leaders*NoteCloseOr judges; see verse 10. I appointed to shepherd My people, ‘Why haven’t you built Me a house of cedar?’
7AND THEREFORE THUS YOU WILL SAY TO SERVANT MY TO DAVID THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH OF HOSTS I I TOOK YOU FROM THE PASTURE FROM AFTER THE FLOCK TO BE RULER OVER PEOPLE MY ISRAEL 7Now then, you are to tell My servant David that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: I took you from the pasture, from following the flock, to be the ruler over My people Israel.
8AND I WAS WITH YOU IN EVERY WHERE YOU WENT AND I CUT OFF <OBJ.> ALL ENEMIES YOUR FROM BEFORE YOU AND I WILL MAKE FOR YOU A NAME LIKE [THE] NAME OF THE GREAT [PEOPLE] WHO [ARE] ON THE EARTH 8I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have cut off all your enemies from before you. Now I will make for you a name like that of the greatest in the land.
9AND I WILL ESTABLISH A PLACE FOR PEOPLE MY ISRAEL AND I WILL PLANT IT AND IT WILL DWELL IN PLACE ITS AND NOT IT WILL BE AGITATED AGAIN AND NOT THEY WILL REPEAT [THE] SONS OF INJUSTICE TO CONSUME IT JUST AS AT THE FORMER [TIME] 9And I will provide a place for My people Israel and will plant them so that they may dwell in a place of their own and be disturbed no more. No longer will the sons of wickedness oppress them as they did at the beginning
10AND <TO> FROM DAYS WHEN I APPOINTED JUDGES OVER PEOPLE MY ISRAEL AND I WILL SUBDUE <OBJ.> ALL ENEMIES YOUR AND I HAVE TOLD TO YOU AND A HOUSE HE WILL BUILD FOR YOU YAHWEH 10and have done since the day I appointed judges over My people Israel. And I will subdue all your enemies. Moreover I declare to you that the LORD will build a house for you.
11AND IT WILL BE THAT THEY HAVE BEEN COMPLETED DAYS YOUR TO GO WITH ANCESTORS YOUR AND I WILL RAISE UP <OBJ.> OFFSPRING YOUR AFTER YOU WHO HE WILL BE ONE OF DESCENDANTS YOUR AND I WILL ESTABLISH <OBJ.> KINGDOM HIS 11And when your days are fulfilled and you go to be with your fathers, I will raise up your descendant after you, one of your own sons, and I will establish his kingdom.
12HE HE WILL BUILD FOR ME A HOUSE AND I WILL ESTABLISH <OBJ.> THRONE HIS UNTIL PERPETUITY 12He will build a house for Me, and I will establish his throne forever.
13I I WILL BECOME OF HIM <INTO> A FATHER AND HE HE WILL BECOME OF ME <INTO> A SON AND COVENANT LOYALTY MY NOT I WILL REMOVE FROM WITH <THE> HIM JUST AS I REMOVED [IT] FROM [THE ONE] WHO HE WAS <TO> BEFORE YOU 13I will be his Father, and he will be My son. And I will never remove My loving devotion from him as I removed it from your predecessor.
14AND I WILL APPOINT HIM IN HOUSE MY AND IN KINGDOM MY UNTIL <THE> PERPETUITY AND THRONE HIS IT WILL BE ESTABLISHED UNTIL PERPETUITY 14But I will set him over My house and My kingdom forever, and his throne will be established forever
15ACCORDING TO ALL THE WORDS <THE> THESE AND ACCORDING TO ALL THE VISION <THE> THIS SO HE SPOKE NATHAN TO DAVID 15So Nathan relayed to David all the words of this entire revelation.
16AND HE WENT THE KING DAVID AND HE SAT <TO> BEFORE YAHWEH AND HE SAID WHO? [AM] I O YAHWEH GOD AND WHO? [IS] HOUSE MY THAT YOU HAVE BROUGHT ME TO HERE David’s Prayer of Thanksgiving (2 Samuel 7:18–29) 16Then King David went in, sat before the LORD, and said, “Who am I, O LORD God, and what is my house, that You have brought me this far?
17AND IT WAS SMALL THIS IN VIEW YOUR O GOD AND YOU HAVE SPOKEN ON [THE] HOUSE OF SERVANT YOUR <TO> FROM DISTANT [TIME] AND YOU HAVE SEEN ME ACCORDING TO [THE] ORDER OF <THE> HUMANKIND THE GOING UP O YAHWEH GOD 17And as if this was a small thing in Your eyes, O God, You have spoken about the future of the house of Your servant and have regarded me as a man of great distinction,*NoteCloseOr and have shown me future generations O LORD God.
18WHAT? WILL HE ADD AGAIN DAVID TO YOU FOR HONOR <OBJ.> SERVANT YOUR AND YOU <OBJ.> SERVANT YOUR YOU KNOW 18What more can David say to You for honoring Your servant? For You know Your servant,
19O YAHWEH FOR SAKE OF SERVANT YOUR AND ACCORDING TO HEART YOUR YOU HAVE DONE <OBJ.> ALL THE GREATNESS <THE> THIS BY MAKING KNOWN <OBJ.> ALL THE GREATNESS<ES> 19O LORD.*NoteCloseSee 2 Samuel 7:20; many translators <span class=|fnv|>18...For You know Your servant. <span class=|fnv|>19O LORD, For the sake of Your servant and according to Your own heart, You have accomplished this great thing and made known all these great promises.
20O YAHWEH THERE NOT [IS] LIKE YOU AND THERE NOT [IS] A GOD EXCEPT YOU IN ALL THAT WE HAVE HEARD WITH EARS OUR 20O LORD, there is none like You, and there is no God but You, according to everything we have heard with our own ears.
21AND WHO? [IS] LIKE PEOPLE YOUR ISRAEL A NATION ONE ON THE EARTH WHICH HE WENT <THE> GOD TO REDEEM FOR HIMSELF A PEOPLE TO MAKE FOR YOURSELF A NAME GREAT THINGS AND AWESOME [DEEDS] BY DRIVING OUT FROM BEFORE PEOPLE YOUR WHICH YOU HAD REDEEMED FROM EGYPT NATIONS 21And who is like Your people Israel— the one nation on earth whom God went out to redeem as a people for Himself? You made a name for Yourself through great and awesome wonders by driving out nations from before Your people, whom You redeemed from Egypt.
22AND YOU MADE <OBJ.> PEOPLE YOUR ISRAEL FOR YOURSELF <INTO> A PEOPLE UNTIL PERPETUITY AND YOU O YAHWEH YOU BECAME FOR THEM <INTO> GOD 22For You have made Your people Israel Your very own forever, and You, O LORD, have become their God.
23AND NOW O YAHWEH THE WORD WHICH YOU HAVE SPOKEN ON SERVANT YOUR AND ON HOUSE HIS LET IT BE ESTABLISHED UNTIL PERPETUITY AND DO JUST AS YOU HAVE SPOKEN 23And now, O LORD, let the word You have spoken concerning Your servant and his house be established forever. Do as You have promised,
24AND IT MAY BE ESTABLISHED SO IT MAY BE GREAT NAME YOUR UNTIL PERPETUITY <TO> SAYING YAHWEH OF HOSTS [IS] [THE] GOD OF ISRAEL GOD TO ISRAEL AND [THE] HOUSE OF DAVID SERVANT YOUR [IS] ESTABLISHED <TO> BEFORE YOU 24so that Your name will be established and magnified forever when it is said, ‘The LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, is God over Israel.’ And may the house of Your servant David be established before You.
25FOR YOU O GOD MY YOU HAVE UNCOVERED <OBJ.> [THE] EAR OF SERVANT YOUR TO BUILD FOR HIM A HOUSE THERE- -FORE HE HAS FOUND SERVANT YOUR TO PRAY <TO> BEFORE YOU 25For You, my God, have revealed to Your servant that You will build a house for him. Therefore Your servant has found the courage to pray before You.
26AND NOW O YAHWEH YOU HE [ARE] <THE> GOD AND YOU HAVE SPOKEN ON SERVANT YOUR THE GOOD THING <THE> THIS 26And now, O LORD, You are God! And You have promised this goodness to Your servant.
27AND NOW YOU HAVE DETERMINED TO BLESS <OBJ.> [THE] HOUSE OF SERVANT YOUR TO BE FOR EVER <TO> BEFORE YOU FOR YOU O YAHWEH YOU HAVE BLESSED AND [IT IS] BLESSED FOR EVER 27So now You have been pleased to bless the house of Your servant, that it may continue forever before You. For You, O LORD, have blessed it, and it will be blessed forever.”
