A Tent for the Ark
(2 Samuel 6:17–19 )
1 So they brought the ark of God and placed it inside the tent that David had pitched for it. And they presented burnt offerings and peace offerings before God.
2 AND HE FINISHED DAVID FROM OFFERING UP THE BURNT OFFERING AND THE PEACE OFFERINGS AND HE BLESSED <OBJ.> THE PEOPLE IN [THE] NAME OF YAHWEH
2 When David had finished sacrificing the burnt offerings and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD.
3 AND HE DISTRIBUTED TO EVERY <THE> PERSON OF ISRAEL FROM MAN AND UNTO WOMAN TO EVERYONE A ROUND LOAF OF BREAD AND A DATE-CAKE AND A RAISIN-CAKE
3 Then he distributed to every man and woman of Israel a loaf of bread, a date cake, and a raisin cake.
4 AND HE APPOINTED <TO> BEFORE [THE] ARK OF YAHWEH SOME OF THE LEVITES SERVANTS AND TO MAKE REMEMBRANCE AND TO GIVE THANKS AND TO PRAISE <TO> YAHWEH [THE] GOD OF ISRAEL
4 David appointed some of the Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD, to celebrate, to give thanks, and to praise the LORD, the God of Israel.
5 ASAPH [WAS] THE CHIEF AND [WAS] SECOND HIS ZECHARIAH JEIEL AND SHEMIRAMOTH AND JEHIEL AND MATTITHIAH AND ELIAB AND BENAIAH AND OBED- EDOM AND JEIEL WITH INSTRUMENTS OF LYRES AND WITH HARPS AND ASAPH WITH <THE> CYMBALS [WAS] SOUNDING ALOUD
5 Asaph was the chief, Zechariah was second, then Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-edom, and Jeiel. They were to play the harps and lyres, while Asaph sounded the cymbals
6 AND BENAIAH AND JAHAZIEL THE PRIESTS WITH TRUMPETS CONTINUALLY <TO> BEFORE [THE] ARK OF [THE] COVENANT OF <THE> GOD
6 and the priests Benaiah and Jahaziel blew the trumpets regularly before the ark of the covenant of God.
7 ON THE DAY <THE> THAT THEN HE APPOINTED DAVID AT THE FIRST TO GIVE THANKS TO YAHWEH BY [THE] HAND OF ASAPH AND RELATIVES HIS
David’s Psalm of Thanksgiving
(Psalm 105:1–15 )
7 On that day David first committed to Asaph and his associates this song of thanksgiving to the LORD:
8 GIVE THANKS TO YAHWEH PROCLAIM <IN> NAME HIS MAKE KNOWN AMONG THE PEOPLES DEEDS HIS
8 “Give thanks to the LORD; call upon His name;
make known His deeds among the nations.
9 SING TO HIM SING PRAISES TO HIM TELL IN ALL WONDERS HIS
9 Sing to Him, sing praises to Him;
tell of all His wonders.
10 BOAST IN [THE] NAME OF HOLINESS HIS LET IT REJOICE [THE] HEART OF [THOSE WHO] SEEK <OF> YAHWEH
10 Glory in His holy name;
let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.
11 SEEK YAHWEH AND STRENGTH HIS SEEK FACE HIS CONTINUALLY
11 Seek out the LORD and His strength;
seek His face always.
12 REMEMBER WONDERS HIS WHICH HE HAS DONE WONDERS HIS AND [THE] JUDGMENTS OF MOUTH HIS
12 Remember the wonders He has done,
His marvels, and the judgments He has pronounced,
13 O OFFSPRING OF ISRAEL SERVANT HIS O DESCENDANTS OF JACOB CHOSEN ONES HIS
13 O offspring of His servant Israel,
O sons of Jacob, His chosen ones.
14 HE [IS] YAHWEH GOD OUR [ARE] IN ALL THE EARTH JUDGMENTS HIS
14 He is the LORD our God;
His judgments carry throughout the earth.
15 REMEMBER FOR EVER COVENANT HIS [THE] WORD [WHICH] HE COMMANDED FOR A THOUSAND GENERATION[S]
15 Remember His covenant forever,
the word He ordained for a thousand generations—
16 WHICH HE MADE WITH ABRAHAM AND OATH HIS TO ISAAC
16 the covenant He made with Abraham,
and the oath He swore to Isaac.
17 AND HE CONFIRMED IT TO JACOB TO A STATUTE TO ISRAEL A COVENANT OF PERPETUITY
17 He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree,
to Israel as an everlasting covenant:
18 <TO> SAYING TO YOU I WILL GIVE [THE] LAND OF CANAAN [THE] PORTION OF INHERITANCE YOUR
18 I will give you the land of Canaan
as the portion of your inheritance.’
19 WHEN WERE YOU MEN OF NUMBER LIKE A FEW AND SOJOURNERS IN IT
19 When they were few in number,
few indeed, and strangers in the land,
20 AND THEY WENT ABOUT FROM NATION TO NATION AND FROM A KINGDOM TO A PEOPLE ANOTHER
20 they wandered from nation to nation,
from one kingdom to another.
21 NOT HE PERMITTED <TO> ANYONE TO OPPRESS THEM AND HE REBUKED ON THEM KINGS
21 He let no man oppress them;
He rebuked kings on their behalf:
22 MAY NOT YOU TOUCH <IN> ANOINTED [ONES] MY AND TO PROPHETS MY MAY NOT YOU DO HARM
22 ‘Do not touch My anointed ones!
Do no harm to My prophets!’
23 SING TO YAHWEH O ALL THE EARTH BEAR NEWS FROM DAY TO DAY SALVATION HIS
Sing to the LORD, All the Earth
(Psalm 96:1–13 )
23 Sing to the LORD, all the earth.
Proclaim His salvation day after day.
24 RECOUNT AMONG THE NATIONS <OBJ.> GLORY HIS AMONG ALL THE PEOPLES WONDERS HIS
24 Declare His glory among the nations,
His wonders among all peoples.
25 FOR [IS] GREAT YAHWEH AND [IS] TO BE PRAISED EXCEEDINGLY AND [IS] TO BE FEARED HE ABOVE ALL GODS
25 For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised;
He is to be feared above all gods.
26 FOR ALL [THE] GODS OF THE PEOPLES [ARE] WORTHLESS IDOLS AND YAHWEH [THE] HEAVENS HE MADE
26 For all the gods of the nations are idols,
but it is the LORD who made the heavens.
27 SPLENDOR AND MAJESTY [ARE] <TO> BEFORE HIM STRENGTH AND JOY [ARE] IN PLACE HIS
27 Splendor and majesty are before Him;
strength and joy fill His dwelling.
28 ASCRIBE TO YAHWEH O CLANS OF PEOPLES ASCRIBE TO YAHWEH GLORY AND STRENGTH
28 Ascribe to the LORD, O families of the nations,
ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.
29 ASCRIBE TO YAHWEH [THE] GLORY OF NAME HIS LIFT UP AN OFFERING AND COME <TO> BEFORE HIM BOW DOWN TO YAHWEH IN ADORNMENT OF HOLINESS
29 Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name;
bring an offering and come before Him.
Worship the LORD in the splendor of His holiness;
30 TREMBLE FROM TO BEFORE HIM O ALL THE EARTH ALSO IT IS ESTABLISHED [THE] WORLD NOT IT WILL BE SHAKEN
30 tremble before Him, all the earth.
The world is firmly established;
it cannot be moved.
31 LET THEM REJOICE THE HEAVENS AND LET IT BE GLAD THE EARTH AND LET PEOPLE SAY AMONG THE NATIONS YAHWEH HE REIGNS
31 Let the heavens be glad,
and the earth rejoice.
Let them say among the nations,
‘The LORD reigns!’
32 LET IT THUNDER THE SEA AND WHAT FILLS IT LET IT EXULT THE FIELD AND ALL THAT [IS] IN IT
32 Let the sea resound,
and all that fills it;
let the fields exult,
and all that is in them.
33 THEN THEY WILL SHOUT FOR JOY [THE] TREES OF THE FOREST FROM TO BEFORE YAHWEH FOR [HE IS] COMING TO JUDGE <OBJ.> THE EARTH
33 Then the trees of the forest will sing for joy before the LORD,
for He is coming to judge the earth.
34 GIVE THANKS TO YAHWEH FOR [HE IS] GOOD FOR [IS] FOR EVER COVENANT LOYALTY HIS
34 Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good;
His loving devotion endures forever.
35 AND SAY SAVE US O GOD OF SALVATION OUR AND GATHER US AND DELIVER US FROM THE NATIONS TO GIVE THANKS TO [THE] NAME OF HOLINESS YOUR TO BOAST IN PRAISE YOUR
35 Then cry out: ‘Save us, O God of our salvation;
gather and deliver us from the nations,
that we may give thanks to Your holy name,
that we may glory in Your praise.’
36 [BE] BLESSED YAHWEH [THE] GOD OF ISRAEL FROM <THE> ANTIQUITY AND UNTIL <THE> PERPETUITY AND THEY SAID ALL THE PEOPLE AMEN AND THEY PRAISED <TO> YAHWEH
36 Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel,
from everlasting to everlasting.”
Then all the people said, “Amen!” and “Praise the LORD!”
37 AND HE LEFT THERE <TO> BEFORE [THE] ARK OF [THE] COVENANT OF YAHWEH <TO> ASAPH AND <TO> RELATIVES HIS TO SERVE <TO> BEFORE THE ARK CONTINUALLY TO [THE] MATTER OF A DAY IN DAY ITS
Worship before the Ark
37 So David left Asaph and his associates there before the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to minister there regularly according to the daily requirements,
38 AND OBED- EDOM AND RELATIVES THEIR SIXTY AND EIGHT AND OBED- EDOM [THE] SON OF JEDITHUN AND HOSAH TO GATEKEEPERS
38 along with Obed-edom and his sixty-eight relatives. Obed-edom son of Jeduthun, and also Hosah, were to be gatekeepers.
39 AND <OBJ.> ZADOK THE PRIEST AND RELATIVES HIS THE PRIESTS <TO> BEFORE [THE] TABERNACLE OF YAHWEH AT THE HIGH PLACE WHICH [WAS] IN GIBEON
39 And David left Zadok the priest and his fellow priests before the tabernacle of the LORD at the high place in Gibeon
40 TO OFFER UP BURNT OFFERINGS TO YAHWEH ON [THE] ALTAR OF THE BURNT OFFERING CONTINUALLY TO THE MORNING AND TO THE EVENING AND TO EVERY <THE> [THING] WRITTEN IN [THE] LAW OF YAHWEH WHICH HE COMMANDED TO ISRAEL
40 to regularly present burnt offerings to the LORD on the altar of burnt offerings, morning and evening, according to all that was written in the Law of the LORD, which He had commanded Israel to keep.
41 AND [WERE] WITH THEM HEMAN AND JEDUTHUN AND [THE] REST OF THOSE [WHO] HAD BEEN CHOSEN WHO THEY HAD BEEN DESIGNATED BY NAMES TO GIVE THANKS TO YAHWEH FOR [IS] FOR EVER COVENANT LOYALTY HIS
41 With them were Heman, Jeduthun, and the rest of those chosen and designated by name to give thanks to the LORD, for “His loving devotion endures forever.”
42 AND [WERE] WITH THEM HEMAN AND JEDUTHUN TRUMPETS AND CYMBALS FOR [THOSE WHO] SOUND ALOUD AND [THE] INSTRUMENTS OF <THE> SONG OF <THE> GOD AND [THE] SONS OF JEDUTHUN [WERE] TO THE GATE
42 Heman and Jeduthun had with them trumpets and cymbals for the music and instruments for the songs of God. And the sons of Jeduthun were stationed at the gate.
43 AND THEY WENT ALL THE PEOPLE EVERYONE TO HOUSE HIS AND HE TURNED DAVID TO BLESS <OBJ.> HOUSE HIS
43 Then all the people departed for their homes, and David returned home to bless his household.
