21WHAT DESIRE YOU? WITH A ROD I MAY COME TO YOU OR IN LOVE A SPIRIT THEN OF GENTLENESS? 21Which do you prefer? Shall I come to you with a rod, or in love and with a gentle spirit?

7DO CLEANSE OUT THEREFORE THE OLD LEAVEN, THAT YOU MAY BE A NEW LUMP EVEN AS YOU ARE UNLEAVENED; ALSO FOR THE PASSOVER LAMB OF US FOR US HAS BEEN SACRIFICED CHRIST. 7Get rid of the old leaven, that you may be a new unleavened batch, as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.
8SO THAT WE MAY CELEBRATE THE FEAST NOT WITH LEAVEN OLD NOT WITH LEAVEN OF MALICE AND WICKEDNESS BUT WITH UNLEAVENED [BREAD] OF SINCERITY AND OF TRUTH. 8Therefore let us keep the feast, not with the old bread, leavened with malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and of truth.
9I WROTE TO YOU IN THE LETTER NOT TO ASSOCIATE WITH [THE] SEXUALLY IMMORAL, Expel the Immoral Brother 9I wrote you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people.
10AND NOT AT ALL WITH THE SEXUALLY IMMORAL <THE> WORLD OF THIS OR WITH THE COVETOUS AND WITH SWINDLERS OR WITH IDOLATERS — SINCE YOU HAVE BEEN OBLIGED THEN WOULD FROM THE WORLD TO DEPART. 10I was not including the sexually immoral of this world, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world.
11NOW HOWEVER I WROTE TO YOU NOT TO ASSOCIATE WITH [HIM] IF ANYONE A BROTHER BEING DESIGNATED HE SHALL BE SEXUALLY IMMORAL OR A COVETER OR AN IDOLATER OR VERBAL ABUSER OR A DRUNKARD OR SWINDLER; <THE> WITH SUCH A ONE NOT EVEN TO EAT. 11But now I am writing you not to associate with anyone who claims to be a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a verbal abuser, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat.
12WHAT FOR [IS IT] TO ME AND THOSE OUTSIDE TO JUDGE? SURELY THOSE WITHIN YOU YOURSELVES DO JUDGE? 12What business of mine is it to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside?
