19AND THEY HAVE REBELLED ISRAEL AGAINST [THE] HOUSE OF DAVID UNTIL THE DAY <THE> THIS 19So to this day Israel has been in rebellion against the house of David.
1AND HE CAME REHOBOAM JERUSALEM AND HE CALLED TOGETHER <OBJ.> [THE] HOUSE OF JUDAH AND BENJAMIN ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY THOUSAND CHOSEN [MAN] MAKER[S] OF WAR TO DO BATTLE WITH ISRAEL TO RESTORE <OBJ.> THE KINGDOM TO REHOBOAM Shemaiah’s Prophecy (1 Kings 12:20–24) 1When Rehoboam arrived in Jerusalem, he mobilized the house of Judah and Benjamin— 180,000. chosen warriors— to fight against Israel and restore the kingdom to Rehoboam.
2AND IT CAME [THE] WORD OF YAHWEH TO SHEMAIAH [THE] MAN OF <THE> GOD <TO> SAYING 2But the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah the man of God:
3SAY TO REHOBOAM [THE] SON OF SOLOMON [THE] KING OF JUDAH AND TO ALL ISRAEL IN JUDAH AND BENJAMIN <TO> SAYING 3“Tell Rehoboam son of Solomon king of Judah and all the Israelites in Judah and Benjamin
4THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH NOT YOU MUST GO UP AND NOT YOU MUST DO BATTLE WITH COUNTRYMEN YOUR RETURN EVERYONE TO OWN HOUSE HIS FOR FROM WITH <THE> ME IT HAS OCCURRED THE THING <THE> THIS AND THEY OBEYED <OBJ.> [THE] WORDS OF YAHWEH AND THEY TURNED BACK FROM GOING AGAINST JEROBOAM 4that this is what the LORD says: ‘You are not to go up and fight against your brothers. Each of you must return home, for this is My doing.’” So they listened to the words of the LORD and turned back from going against Jeroboam.
5AND HE DWELT REHOBOAM IN JERUSALEM AND HE BUILT CITIES TO FORTIFICATION IN JUDAH Rehoboam Fortifies Judah 5Rehoboam lived in Jerusalem, and he built up cities for defense in Judah.
6AND HE BUILT <OBJ.> BETH- -LEHEM AND <OBJ.> ETAM AND <OBJ.> TEKOA 6He built up Bethlehem, Etam, Tekoa,
10AND <OBJ.> ZORAH AND <OBJ.> AIJALON AND <OBJ.> HEBRON WHICH [WERE] IN JUDAH AND IN BENJAMIN CITIES OF FORTIFICATIONS 10Zorah, Aijalon, and Hebron, the fortified cities in Judah and Benjamin.
11AND HE STRENGTHENED <OBJ.> THE FORTIFICATIONS AND HE PUT IN THEM COMMANDERS AND SUPPLIES OF FOOD AND OIL AND WINE 11He strengthened their fortifications and put officers in them, with supplies of food, oil, and wine.
12AND [WERE] IN EVERY CITY AND A CITY BODY SHIELDS AND SPEARS AND HE MADE STRONG THEM TO ABUNDANCE EXCEEDINGLY AND IT BELONGED TO HIM JUDAH AND BENJAMIN 12He also put shields and spears in all the cities and strengthened them greatly. So Judah and Benjamin belonged to him.
13AND THE PRIESTS AND THE LEVITES WHO [WERE] IN ALL ISRAEL THEY TOOK THEIR STAND AT HIM FROM ALL TERRITORY THEIR Jeroboam Forsakes the Priests and Levites 13Moreover, the priests and Levites from all their districts throughout Israel stood with Rehoboam.
14FOR THEY FORSOOK THE LEVITES <OBJ.> PASTURE LANDS THEIR AND PROPERTY THEIR AND THEY WENT TO JUDAH AND TO JERUSALEM FOR HE HAD REJECTED THEM JEROBOAM AND SONS HIS FROM SERVING AS PRIESTS TO YAHWEH 14For the Levites left their pasturelands and their possessions and went to Judah and Jerusalem, because Jeroboam and his sons had rejected them as priests of the LORD.
15AND HE APPOINTED FOR HIMSELF PRIESTS FOR THE HIGH PLACES AND FOR THE GOATS AND FOR THE CALVES WHICH HE HAD MADE 15And Jeroboam appointed his own priests for the high places and for the goat demons and calf idols he had made.
16AND AFTER THEM FROM ALL [THE] TRIBES OF ISRAEL THOSE [WHO] SET <OBJ.> HEART THEIR TO SEEK <OBJ.> YAHWEH [THE] GOD OF ISRAEL THEY CAME JERUSALEM TO SACRIFICE TO YAHWEH [THE] GOD OF ANCESTORS THEIR 16Those from every tribe of Israel who had set their hearts to seek the LORD their God followed the Levites to Jerusalem to sacrifice to the LORD, the God of their fathers.
17AND THEY STRENGTHENED <OBJ.> [THE] KINGDOM OF JUDAH AND THEY STRENGTHENED <OBJ.> REHOBOAM [THE] SON OF SOLOMON FOR YEARS THREE FOR THEY WALKED IN [THE] WAY OF DAVID AND SOLOMON FOR YEARS THREE 17So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah and supported Rehoboam son of Solomon for three years, because they walked for three years in the way of David and Solomon.
18AND HE TOOK FOR HIMSELF REHOBOAM A WIFE <OBJ.> MAHALATH [THE] DAUGHTER OF JERIMOTH [THE] SON OF DAVID ABIHAIL [THE] DAUGHTER OF ELIAB [THE] SON OF JESSE Rehoboam’s Family 18And Rehoboam married Mahalath, who was the daughter of David’s son Jerimoth and of Abihail, the daughter of Jesse’s son Eliab.
19AND SHE BORE TO HIM SONS <OBJ.> JEUSH AND <OBJ.> SHEMARIAH AND <OBJ.> ZAHAM 19She bore sons to him: Jeush, Shemariah, and Zaham.
20AND AFTER HER HE TOOK <OBJ.> MAACAH [THE] DAUGHTER OF ABSALOM AND SHE BORE TO HIM <OBJ.> ABIJAH AND <OBJ.> ATTAI AND <OBJ.> ZIZA AND <OBJ.> SHELOMITH 20After her, he married Maacah daughter of Absalom, and she bore to him Abijah, Attai, Ziza, and Shelomith.
21AND HE LOVED REHOBOAM <OBJ.> MAACAH [THE] DAUGHTER OF ABSALOM MORE THAN ALL WIVES HIS AND CONCUBINES HIS FOR WIVES EIGHT- TEEN HE HAD TAKEN AND CONCUBINES SIXTY AND HE FATHERED TWENTY AND EIGHT SONS AND SIXTY DAUGHTERS 21Rehoboam loved Maacah daughter of Absalom more than all his wives and concubines. In all, he had eighteen wives and sixty concubines, and he was the father of twenty-eight sons and sixty daughters.
22AND HE APPOINTED TO THE CHIEF REHOBOAM <OBJ.> ABIJAH [THE] SON OF MAACAH TO LEADER AMONG BROTHERS HIS FOR TO MAKE KING HIM 22Rehoboam appointed Abijah son of Maacah as chief prince among his brothers, intending to make him king.
23AND HE ACTED WISELY AND HE DISTRIBUTED SOME OF ALL SONS HIS TO ALL [THE] LANDS OF JUDAH AND BENJAMIN TO ALL [THE] CITIES OF <THE> FORTIFICATIONS AND HE GAVE TO THEM <THE> FOOD TO ABUNDANCE AND HE SOUGHT A MULTITUDE OF WIVES 23Rehoboam also acted wisely by dispersing some of his sons throughout the districts of Judah and Benjamin, and to all the fortified cities. He gave them abundant provisions and sought many wives for them.
