24THE LOVE OF MINE [BE] WITH ALL YOU IN CHRIST JESUS. AMEN TO CORINTHIANS FIRST IT WAS WRITTEN FROM PHILIPPI THROUGH OF STEPHANAS AND FORTUNATUS AND ACHAICUS AND TIMOTHY. 24My love be with all of you in Christ Jesus. Amen.*NoteCloseSBL, WH, and NA do not include Amen.
1PAUL APOSTLE OF CHRIST JESUS THROUGH [THE] WILL OF GOD AND TIMOTHY THE BROTHER TO THE CHURCH <THE> OF GOD WHICH IS BEING IN CORINTH WITH THE SAINTS ALL WHO ARE BEING IN ALL <THE> ACHAIA; Paul Greets the Corinthians (Acts 18:1–11; 1 Corinthians 1:1–3) 1Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, To the church of God in Corinth, together with all the saints throughout Achaia:
2GRACE TO YOU AND PEACE FROM GOD [THE] FATHER OF US AND [THE] LORD JESUS CHRIST. 2Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3BLESSED [BE] THE GOD AND FATHER OF THE LORD OF US JESUS CHRIST, THE FATHER <THE> OF COMPASSIONS AND GOD OF ALL COMFORT, The God of All Comfort 3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort,
4WHO IS COMFORTING US IN ALL THE TRIBULATION OF US FOR <THE> TO BE ABLE US TO COMFORT THOSE IN EVERY TRIBULATION THROUGH THE COMFORT WITH WHICH WE ARE COMFORTED OURSELVES BY <THE> GOD; 4who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
5BECAUSE EVEN AS ABOUND THE SUFFERINGS OF THE CHRIST TOWARD US, THUS SO THROUGH <THE> CHRIST ABOUNDS ALSO THE COMFORT OF US. 5For just as the sufferings of Christ overflow to us, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.
6IF HOWEVER WE ARE CONSTRICTED, [IT IS] FOR <THE> YOUR COMFORT AND SALVATION IF WE ARE ENCOURAGED, [IT IS] FOR <THE> YOUR COMFORT AND SALVATION WHICH IS OPERATING IN [THE] ENDURANCE OF THE SAME SUFFERINGS THAT ALSO WE OURSELVES SUFFER, 6If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which accomplishes in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we experience.
7AND THE HOPE OF US [IS] STEADFAST FOR OF YOU; {7} KNOWING THAT AS PARTNERS YOU ARE OF THE SUFFERINGS, SO ALSO OF THE COMFORT. 7And our hope for you is sure, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you will share in our comfort.
8NOT FOR DO WE WANT YOU TO BE IGNORANT BROTHERS, AS TO THE AFFLICTION OF US <THE> HAVING HAPPENED TO US IN <THE> ASIA THAT AGAINST EXCESSIVELY BEYOND [OUR] POWER WE WERE WEIGHED SO AS TO DESPAIR FOR US EVEN <THE> TO LIVE; 8We do not want you to be unaware, brothers, of the hardships we encountered in the province of Asia.*NoteCloseLiterally in Asia; Asia was a Roman province in what is now western Turkey. We were under a burden far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired even of life.
9BUT WE IN OURSELVES THE SENTENCE <THE> OF DEATH HAS, IN ORDER THAT NOT HAVING TRUSTED WE MAY BE IN OURSELVES BUT IN <THE> GOD WHO IS RAISING THE DEAD; 9Indeed, we felt we were under the sentence of death, in order that we would not trust in ourselves, but in God, who raises the dead.
10WHO FROM SUCH A GREAT A DEATH HAS DELIVERED US AND WILL DELIVER [US] IN WHOM WE HAVE HOPE THAT ALSO STILL HE WILL DELIVER [US] 10He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and He will deliver us. In Him we have placed our hope that He will yet again deliver us,
11JOINING TOGETHER ALSO OF YOU FOR US <THE> BY SUPPLICATION, SO THAT BY MANY PERSONS FOR THE TOWARD US GRACE BESTOWED THROUGH MANY THANKS MAY BE GIVEN FOR US. 11as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the favor shown us in answer to their prayers.
12<THE> FOR BOASTING OF US THIS IS, THE TESTIMONY OF THE CONSCIENCE OF US, THAT IN OPENNESS AND SINCERITY <THE> OF GOD, AND NOT IN WISDOM FLESHLY BUT IN [THE] GRACE OF GOD WE HAVE CONDUCTED OURSELVES IN THE WORLD, MORE ABUNDANTLY NOW TOWARD YOU. Paul’s Change of Plans 12For this is our boast: Our conscience testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially in relation to you, in the holiness and sincerity that are from God— not in worldly*NoteCloseLiterally fleshly wisdom, but in the grace of God.
13NO FOR OTHER THINGS WE WRITE TO YOU, OTHER THAN WHAT YOU READ OR EVEN UNDERSTAND; I HOPE NOW THAT AND TO [THE] END YOU WILL UNDERSTAND, 13For we do not write you anything that is beyond your ability to read and understand. And I hope that you will understand us completely,
14EVEN AS ALSO YOU HAVE UNDERSTOOD US IN PART THAT BOASTING OF YOU WE ARE, EVEN AS ALSO YOU [ARE] OURS IN THE DAY OF THE LORD OF US JESUS. 14as you have already understood us in part, that you may boast of us just as we will boast of you in the day of our Lord Jesus.*NoteCloseBYZ and TR the Lord Jesus
15AND WITH THIS <THE> CONFIDENCE I WAS PLANNING <THE> PREVIOUSLY TO YOU TO COME SO THAT SECONDLY GRACE YOU MAY HAVE 15Confident of this, I planned to visit you first, so that you might receive a double blessing.
16AND THROUGH YOU TO PASS THROUGH INTO MACEDONIA AND AGAIN FROM MACEDONIA TO COME TO YOU AND BY YOU TO BE SET FORWARD TO <THE> JUDEA. 16I wanted to visit you on my way to Macedonia, and to return to you from Macedonia, and then to have you help me on my way to Judea.
17THUS THEREFORE DECIDING SURELY NOT EVER THEN <THE> LEVITY DID I USE? OR WHAT I PURPOSE ACCORDING TO FLESH DO I PURPOSE, SO THAT THERE MAY BE WITH ME MYSELF <THE> YES YES AND <THE> NO NO? 17When I planned this, did I do it carelessly? Or do I make my plans by human standards, so as to say “Yes, yes ” and also “No, no ”?
18FAITHFUL HOWEVER <THE> GOD [IS], THAT THE WORD OF US <THE> TO YOU NOT WAS YES AND NO; 18But as surely as God is faithful, our message to you is not “Yes” and “No.”
19THE <THE> OF GOD FOR SON JESUS CHRIST THE [ONE] AMONG YOU THROUGH US HAVING BEEN PROCLAIMED THROUGH ME AND SILVANUS AND TIMOTHY, NOT WAS YES AND NO, BUT YES IN HIM IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN; 19For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was proclaimed among you by me and Silvanus*NoteCloseThat is, Silas and Timothy, was not “Yes ” and “No, ” but in Him it has always been “Yes. ”
20AS MANY AS FOR PROMISES OF GOD [THERE ARE], IN HIM [IS] THE YES; THEREFORE ALSO THORUGH HIM THE AMEN <THE> TO GOD [IS] FOR GLORY THROUGH US. 20For all the promises of God are “Yes ” in Christ. And so through Him, our “Amen ” is spoken to the glory of God.
21THE [ONE] NOW ESTABLISHING US WITH YOU UNTO CHRIST AND HAVING ANOINTED US [IS] GOD, 21Now it is God who establishes both us and you in Christ. He anointed us,
22THE [ONE] ALSO HAVING SEALED US AND HAVING GIVEN THE PLEDGE OF THE SPIRIT IN THE HEARTS OF US. 22placed His seal on us, and put His Spirit in our hearts as a pledge of what is to come.
23I MYSELF HOWEVER AS WITNESS <THE> GOD CALL UPON <THE> MY SOUL THAT SPARING YOU NO LONGER HAVE I COME TO CORINTH; 23I call God as my witness that it was in order to spare you that I did not return to Corinth.
24NOT FOR WE LORD IT OVER YOUR <THE> FAITH, BUT FELLOW WORKERS ARE OF THE JOY WITH YOU; IN THE FOR FAITH YOU HAVE STOOD FIRM. 24Not that we lord it over your faith, but we are fellow workers with you for your joy, because it is by faith that you stand firm.
