18WE OURSELVES NOW ALL UNVEILED IN FACE THE GLORY OF [THE] LORD BEHOLDING AS IN A MIRROR, THE SAME IMAGE ARE BEING TRANSFORMED INTO FROM GLORY TO GLORY EVEN AS FROM [THE] LORD [THE] SPIRIT. 18And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into His image with intensifying glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
1BECAUSE OF THIS HAVING <THE> MINISTRY THIS EVEN AS WE RECEIVED MERCY, NOT WE LOSE HEART, The Light of the Gospel 1Therefore, since God in His mercy has given us this ministry,*NoteCloseLiterally Therefore, having this ministry, as we have received mercy, we do not lose heart.
2BUT WE HAVE RENOUNCED THE HIDDEN THINGS <THE> OF SHAME NOT WALKING IN CRAFTINESS NOR FALSIFYING THE WORD <THE> OF GOD, BUT BY THE MANIFESTATION OF THE TRUTH COMMENDING OURSELVES TO EVERY CONSCIENCE OF MEN BEFORE <THE> GOD. 2Instead, we have renounced secret and shameful ways. We do not practice deceit, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by open proclamation of the truth, we commend ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.
3IF HOWEVER EVEN IS CONCEALED THE GOSPEL OF US, TO THOSE PERISHING IT IS CONCEALED; 3And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing.
4IN WHOM THE GOD OF THE AGE THIS HAS BLINDED THE MINDS OF THE UNBELIEVING SO AS FOR <THE> NOT TO BEAM FORTH TO THEM THE ILLUMINATION OF THE GOSPEL OF THE GLORY <THE> OF CHRIST, WHO IS [THE] IMAGE <THE> OF GOD. 4The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
5NOT FOR OURSELVES DO WE PROCLAIM BUT JESUS CHRIST LORD, OURSELVES NOW SERVANTS OF YOU FOR THE SAKE OF JESUS. 5For we do not proclaim ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake.
6FOR [IT IS] <THE> GOD <THE> HAVING SAID OUT OF DARKNESS LIGHT WILL SHINE, WHO SHONE IN THE HEARTS OF US FOR [THE] RADIANCE OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE GLORY <THE> OF GOD IN [THE] FACE OF JESUS CHRIST. 6For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,”*NoteCloseGenesis 1:3 made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.*NoteCloseSBL, NE, and WH in the face of Christ
7WE HAVE NOW <THE> TREASURE THIS IN EARTHEN VESSELS, THAT THE SURPASSINGNESS OF THE POWER MAY BE <THE> FROM GOD AND NOT FROM US, Treasure in Jars of Clay (Romans 6:1–14) 7Now we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this surpassingly great power is from God and not from us.
8IN EVERY [WAY] BEING HARD PRESSED BUT NOT BEING CRUSHED, BEING PERPLEXED BUT NOT DESPAIRING, 8We are hard pressed on all sides, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair;
9BEING PERSECUTED BUT NOT BEING FORSAKEN, BEING STRUCK DOWN BUT NOT BEING DESTROYED; 9persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.
10ALWAYS THE DEATH OF THE LORD JESUS IN <THE> [OUR] BODY CARRYING AROUND, SO THAT ALSO THE LIFE <THE> OF JESUS IN THE BODY OF US MAY BE MANIFESTED; 10We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.
11ALWAYS FOR WE OURSELVES THE LIVING TO DEATH ARE BEING DELIVERED ON ACCOUNT OF JESUS, SO THAT ALSO THE LIFE <THE> OF JESUS MAY BE MANIFESTED IN THE MORTAL FLESH OF US. 11For we who are alive are always consigned to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our mortal body.
12SO THEN <THE> INDEED DEATH IN US WORKS, <THE> HOWEVER LIFE IN YOU. 12So then death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.
13HAVING HOWEVER THE SAME SPIRIT <THE> OF FAITH ACCORDING TO THAT WRITTEN: I BELIEVED, THEREFORE I HAVE SPOKEN, ALSO WE OURSELVES BELIEVE, THEREFORE ALSO SPEAK; 13And in keeping with what is written, “I believed, therefore I have spoken,”*NoteClosePsalm 116:10 (see also LXX) we who have the same spirit of faith also believe and therefore speak,
14KNOWING THAT THE [ONE] HAVING RAISED UP THE LORD JESUS ALSO US WITH JESUS HE WILL RAISE UP AND HE WILL PRESENT [US] WITH YOU. 14knowing that the One who raised the Lord Jesus*NoteCloseSBL who raised Jesus will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you in His presence.
15<THE> FOR ALL THINGS [ARE] FOR THE SAKE OF YOU, SO THAT THE GRACE HAVING ABOUNDED THROUGH <THE> MORE AND MORE THE THANKSGIVING MAY INCREASE TO THE GLORY <THE> OF GOD. 15All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is extending to more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow, to the glory of God.
16THEREFORE NOT WE LOSE HEART; BUT IF EVEN THE OUTWARD OF US MAN IS BEING BROUGHT TO DECAY, YET THE INNER OF US IS BEING RENEWED BY DAY AND BY DAY. 16Therefore we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, yet our inner self is being renewed day by day.
17THE FOR MOMENTARY LIGHTNESS THE AFFLICTION OF US FAR SURPASSING TO EXCESSIVENESS AN ETERNAL WEIGHT OF GLORY IS PRODUCING FOR US, 17For our light and momentary affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory that is far beyond comparison.
18NOT ARE LOOKING AT WE THE [THINGS] BEING SEEN BUT THE [THINGS] NOT BEING SEEN; THE [THINGS] FOR BEING SEEN [ARE] TEMPORARY, THE [THINGS] HOWEVER NOT BEING SEEN [ARE] ETERNAL. 18So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
