25THANKS [BE] THEN <THE> TO GOD THROUGH JESUS CHRIST THE LORD OF US! THEN SO MYSELF I MYSELF WITH THE INDEED MIND SERVE LAW OF GOD <THE> BUT [WITH] THE FLESH [THE] LAW OF SIN. 25Thanks be to God, through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with my mind I serve the law of God, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin.
1NO THEREFORE NOW CONDEMNATION TO THOSE IN CHRIST JESUS NOT ACCORDING TO FLESH WALK BUT ACCORDING TO SPIRIT. Walking by the Spirit (Ezekiel 36:16–38; Galatians 5:16–26) 1Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.*NoteCloseBYZ and TR in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
2<THE> FOR THE LAW OF THE SPIRIT <THE> OF LIFE IN CHRIST JESUS HAS SET FREE YOU FROM THE LAW <THE> OF SIN AND <THE> OF DEATH. 2For in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set you*NoteCloseBYZ and TR me free from the law of sin and death.
3<THE> FOR POWERLESS [BEING] THE LAW, IN THAT IT WAS WEAK THROUGH THE FLESH, <THE> GOD <THE> HIS OWN SON HAVING SENT IN LIKENESS OF FLESH OF SIN AND FOR SIN CONDEMNED <THE> SIN IN THE FLESH, 3For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful man, as an offering for sin.*NoteCloseLiterally in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin He thus condemned sin in the flesh,
4SO THAT THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF THE LAW MAY BE FULFILLED IN US <THE> NOT ACCORDING TO [THE] FLESH WALKING BUT ACCORDING TO [THE] SPIRIT. 4so that the righteous standard of the law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
5THOSE FOR ACCORDING TO FLESH BEING THE [THINGS] OF THE FLESH MIND THOSE HOWEVER ACCORDING TO SPIRIT THE [THINGS] OF THE SPIRIT. 5Those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh; but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.
6THE FOR MIND OF THE FLESH [IS] DEATH, THE BUT MIND OF THE SPIRIT LIFE AND PEACE. 6The mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace,
7BECAUSE THE MIND OF THE FLESH [IS] HOSTILITY TOWARD GOD; <THE> FOR THE LAW <THE> OF GOD NOT IT IS SUBJECT, NOR EVEN FOR CAN IT [BE]; 7because the mind of the flesh is hostile to God: It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.
8THOSE NOW IN FLESH BEING GOD TO PLEASE NOT ARE ABLE; 8Those controlled by the flesh*NoteCloseLiterally Those being in the flesh; similarly in verse 9 cannot please God.
9YOU YOURSELVES NOW NOT ARE IN FLESH BUT IN SPIRIT, IF INDEED SPIRIT OF GOD DWELLS IN YOU. IF HOWEVER ANYONE [THE] SPIRIT OF CHRIST NOT HAS, HE NOT IS OF HIM. 9You, however, are controlled not by the flesh, but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.
10IF NOW CHRIST [IS] IN YOU, THE INDEED BODY [IS] DEAD ON ACCOUNT OF SIN THE HOWEVER SPIRIT [IS] LIFE ON ACCOUNT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS. 10But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive*NoteCloseOr yet the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
11IF NOW THE SPIRIT OF THE [ONE] HAVING RAISED UP <THE> JESUS OUT FROM [THE] DEAD DWELLS IN YOU, THE [ONE] HAVING RAISED UP <THE> CHRIST OUT FROM [THE] DEAD JESUS WILL GIVE LIFE ALSO TO THE MORTAL BODIES OF YOU ON ACCOUNT OF THE DWELLING OF HIS SPIRIT IN YOU. 11And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead*NoteCloseNA, BYZ, and TR raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who lives in you.
12SO THEN, BROTHERS, DEBTORS WE ARE NOT TO THE FLESH <THE> ACCORDING TO FLESH TO LIVE; Heirs with Christ 12Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation, but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it.
13IF FOR ACCORDING TO FLESH YOU LIVE, YOU ARE ABOUT TO DIE; IF HOWEVER BY [THE] SPIRIT THE DEEDS OF THE BODY YOU PUT TO DEATH, YOU WILL LIVE. 13For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
14AS MANY AS FOR BY [THE] SPIRIT OF GOD ARE LED, THESE SONS OF GOD ARE. 14For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.
15NOT FOR YOU HAVE RECEIVED A SPIRIT OF BONDAGE AGAIN TO FEAR, BUT YOU HAVE RECEIVED [THE] SPIRIT OF DIVINE ADOPTION AS SONS BY WHOM WE CRY; ABBA O FATHER! 15For you did not receive a spirit of slavery that returns you to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption to sonship, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father! ”
16HIMSELF THE SPIRIT BEARS WITNESS WITH THE SPIRIT OF US THAT WE ARE CHILDREN OF GOD. 16The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.
17IF NOW CHILDREN, ALSO HEIRS; HEIRS INDEED OF GOD JOINT-HEIRS HOWEVER OF CHRIST; IF INDEED WE SUFFER WITH [HIM] SO THAT ALSO WE SHALL BE GLORIFIED TOGETHER. 17And if we are children, then we are heirs: heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ— if indeed we suffer with Him, so that we may also be glorified with Him.
18I RECKON FOR THAT NOT COMPARABLE THE SUFFERINGS OF THE PRESENT TIME [ARE] TO THE COMING GLORY TO BE REVEALED TO US. Future Glory (2 Corinthians 5:1–10) 18I consider that our present sufferings are not comparable to the glory that will be revealed in us.
19THE FOR EARNEST EXPECTATION OF THE CREATION THE REVELATION OF THE SONS <THE> OF GOD AWAITS; 19The creation waits in eager expectation for the revelation of the sons of God.
20TO THE FOR FUTILITY THE CREATION WAS SUBJECTED, NOT WILLINGLY BUT BECAUSE OF THE [ONE] HAVING SUBJECTED [IT], IN HOPE 20For the creation was subjected to futility, not by its own will, but because of the One who subjected it, in hope
21FOR ALSO ITSELF THE CREATION WILL BE SET FREE FROM THE BONDAGE <THE> OF DECAY INTO THE FREEDOM OF THE GLORY OF THE CHILDREN <THE> OF GOD. 21that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.
22WE KNOW FOR THAT ALL THE CREATION GROANS TOGETHER AND IT TRAVAILS TOGETHER UNTIL <THE> NOW; 22We know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until the present time.
23NOT ONLY [SO] NOW, BUT EVEN OURSELVES THE FIRSTFRUIT OF THE SPIRIT HAVING WE OURSELVES ALSO OURSELVES IN OURSELVES GROAN DIVINE ADOPTION AS SONS AWAITING, THE REDEMPTION OF THE BODY OF US. 23Not only that, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.
24IN THIS FOR HOPE WE WERE SAVED; HOPE HOWEVER BEING SEEN NOT IS HOPE; WHAT FOR SEES ANY WHY ALSO DOES HE HOPE FOR [IT]? 24For in this hope we were saved; but hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he can already see?
25IF HOWEVER WHAT NOT WE SEE WE HOPE FOR, IN PATIENCE WE AWAIT. 25But if we hope for what we do not yet see, we wait for it patiently.
26LIKEWISE NOW ALSO THE SPIRIT JOINS TO HELP THE WEAKNESS OF US; THE FOR THINGS WHICH WE MAY PRAY FOR AS IT BEHOOVES NOT WE KNOW, BUT HIMSELF THE SPIRIT MAKES INTERCESSION FOR OF US WITH GROANINGS INEXPRESSIBLE; 26In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know how we ought to pray, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans too deep for words.
27THE [ONE] NOW SEARCHING <THE> HEARTS KNOWS WHAT [IS] THE MINDSET OF THE SPIRIT, BECAUSE ACCORDING TO GOD HE INTERCEDES FOR [THE] SAINTS. 27And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
28WE KNOW NOW THAT TO THOSE LOVING <THE> GOD ALL THINGS WORKS TOGETHER <THE> GOD FOR GOOD, TO THOSE ACCORDING TO [HIS] PURPOSE CALLED BEING. God Works in All Things (Ephesians 1:3–14) 28And we know that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose.
29FOR THOSE WHOM HE FOREKNEW, ALSO HE PREDESTINED [TO BE] CONFORMED TO THE IMAGE OF THE SON OF HIM FOR <THE> TO BE HIM FIRSTBORN AMONG MANY BROTHERS; 29For those God foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brothers.
30THOSE WHOM THEN HE PREDESTINED, THESE ALSO HE CALLED; AND WHOM HE CALLED, THESE ALSO HE JUSTIFIED; WHOM THEN HE JUSTIFIED, THESE ALSO HE GLORIFIED. 30And those He predestined, He also called; those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified.
31WHAT THEN WILL WE SAY TO THESE THINGS? IF <THE> GOD [IS] FOR US, WHO [CAN BE] AGAINST US? 31What then shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
32HE WHO INDEED <THE> [HIS] OWN SON NOT SPARED, BUT FOR US ALL GAVE UP HIM, HOW SURELY ALSO WITH HIM THE [THINGS] ALL US WILL HE GRANT? 32He who did not spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all, how will He not also, along with Him, freely give us all things?
33WHO WILL BRING AN ACCUSATION AGAINST [THE] ELECT OF GOD? GOD [IS] WHO IS JUSTIFYING; 33Who will bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.
34WHO [IS] THE [ONE] CONDEMNING? [FOR IT IS] CHRIST JESUS THE [ONE] HAVING DIED RATHER NOW ALSO HAVING BEEN RAISED UP FROM DEAD WHO ALSO IS AT [THE] RIGHT HAND <THE> OF GOD, WHO AND IS INTERCEDING FOR US. 34Who is there to condemn us? For Christ Jesus, who died, and more than that was raised to life, is at the right hand of God— and He is interceding for us.
35WHO US WILL SEPARATE FROM THE LOVE <THE> OF CHRIST? TRIBULATION OR DISTRESS OR PERSECUTION OR FAMINE OR NAKEDNESS OR DANGER OR SWORD? More than Conquerors (Psalm 44:1–26) 35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
36EVEN AS IT HAS BEEN WRITTEN THAT FOR THE SAKE OF YOU WE FACE DEATH ALL THE DAY, WE WERE REGARDED AS SHEEP OF SLAUGHTER. 36As it is written: For Your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”*NoteClosePsalm 44:22
37BUT IN THESE THINGS ALL WE MORE THAN CONQUER THROUGH THE [ONE WHO] HAVING LOVED US; 37No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
38I HAVE BEEN PERSUADED FOR THAT NEITHER DEATH NOR LIFE NOR ANGELS NOR PRINCIPALITIES NOR THINGS BEING PRESENT NOR THINGS TO COME NOR POWERS 38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,
39NOR HEIGHT NOR DEPTH NOR ANY CREATED THING OTHER WILL BE ABLE US TO SEPARATE FROM THE LOVE <THE> OF GOD <THE> IN CHRIST JESUS THE LORD OF US. 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
