1THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH ON THREE <THE> TRANSGRESSIONS OF MOAB AND ON FOUR NOT I WILL REVOKE IT BECAUSE BURNED HE [THE] BONES OF [THE] KING OF EDOM INTO <THE> LIME Judgment on Moab, Judah, and Israel 1This is what the LORD says: “For three transgressions of Moab, even four, I will not revoke My judgment,*NoteCloseOr I will not revoke the punishment; Hebrew I will not revoke it; also in verses 4 and 6 because he burned to lime the bones of Edom’s king.
2AND I WILL SEND FORTH A FIRE ON MOAB AND IT WILL CONSUME [THE] FORTRESSES OF <THE> KERIOTH AND IT WILL DIE IN UPROAR MOAB WITH A SHOUT OF ALARM WITH [THE] SOUND OF A TRUMPET 2So I will send fire against Moab to consume the citadels of Kerioth. Moab will die in tumult, amid war cries and the sound of the ram’s horn.
3AND I WILL CUT OFF A JUDGE FROM MIDST ITS AND ALL OFFICIALS ITS I WILL KILL WITH HIM HE SAYS YAHWEH 3I will cut off the ruler of Moab and kill all the officials with him,” says the LORD.
4THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH ON THREE <THE> TRANSGRESSIONS OF JUDAH AND ON FOUR NOT I WILL REVOKE IT BECAUSE HAVE REJECTED THEY <OBJ.> [THE] LAW OF YAHWEH AND STATUTES HIS NOT THEY HAVE KEPT AND THEY HAVE MISLED THEM LIES THEIR WHICH THEY WALKED ANCESTORS THEIR AFTER THEM 4This is what the LORD says: “For three transgressions of Judah, even four, I will not revoke My judgment, because they reject the Law of the LORD and fail to keep His statutes; they are led astray by the lies in which their fathers walked.
5AND I WILL SEND FORTH A FIRE ON JUDAH AND IT WILL CONSUME [THE] FORTRESSES OF JERUSALEM 5So I will send fire upon Judah to consume the citadels of Jerusalem.”
6THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH ON THREE <THE> TRANSGRESSIONS OF ISRAEL AND ON FOUR NOT I WILL REVOKE IT BECAUSE SOLD THEY FOR <THE> SILVER [THE] RIGHTEOUS AND [THE] NEEDY FOR SAKE OF A PAIR OF SANDALS 6This is what the LORD says: “For three transgressions of Israel, even four, I will not revoke My judgment, because they sell the righteous for silver and the needy for a pair of sandals.
7THOSE [WHO] TRAMPLE ON [THE] DUST OF [THE] EARTH ON [THE] HEAD OF POOR [PEOPLE] AND [THE] WAY OF HUMBLE [PEOPLE] THEY TURN ASIDE AND A MAN AND FATHER HIS THEY GO INTO THE YOUNG WOMAN SO AS TO PROFANE <OBJ.> [THE] NAME OF HOLINESS MY 7They trample on the heads of the poor as on the dust of the earth; they push the needy out of their way. A man and his father have relations with the same girl and so profane My holy name.
8AND ON GARMENTS TAKEN IN PLEDGE THEY STRETCH OUT BESIDE EVERY ALTAR AND [THE] WINE OF FINES THEY DRINK [THE] HOUSE OF GOD THEIR 8They lie down beside every altar on garments taken in pledge. And in the house of their God,*NoteCloseOr of their gods they drink wine obtained through fines.*NoteCloseOr they drink the wine of those who have been fined
9AND I I DESTROYED <OBJ.> THE AMORITE[S] FROM BEFORE THEM WHO [WAS] LIKE [THE] HEIGHT OF CEDARS HEIGHT HIS AND [IS] STRONG HE LIKE <THE> OAKS AND I DESTROYED FRUIT HIS <FROM> ABOVE AND ROOTS HIS <FROM> BENEATH 9Yet it was I who destroyed the Amorite before them, though his height was like that of the cedars, and he was as strong as the oaks. Yet I destroyed his fruit above and his roots below.
10AND I I BROUGHT UP <OBJ.> YOU FROM [THE] LAND OF EGYPT AND I LED <OBJ.> YOU IN THE WILDERNESS FORTY YEAR[S] TO TAKE POSSESSION OF <OBJ.> [THE] LAND OF THE AMORITE[S] 10And I brought you up from the land of Egypt and led you forty years in the wilderness, that you might take possession of the land of the Amorite.
11AND I RAISED UP SOME OF SONS YOUR TO PROPHETS AND SOME OF YOUNG MEN YOUR TO NAZIRITES ¿ ALSO NOT [IS] THIS O PEOPLE OF ISRAEL [THE] UTTERANCE OF YAHWEH 11I raised up prophets from your sons and Nazirites from your young men. Is this not true, O children of Israel?” declares the LORD.
12AND YOU MADE DRINK <OBJ.> THE NAZIRITES WINE AND TO THE PROPHETS YOU COMMANDED <TO> SAYING NOT YOU MUST PROPHESY 12“But you made the Nazirites drink wine and commanded the prophets not to prophesy.
13HERE! I [AM] ABOUT TO MAKE TOTTER UNDER YOU JUST AS IT TOTTERS THE CART <THE> FULL <FOR> ITSELF CUT GRAIN 13Behold, I am about to crush you in your place as with a cart full of grain.
14AND IT WILL BE LOST A PLACE OF ESCAPE FROM A SWIFT [PERSON] AND A STRONG [PERSON] NOT HE WILL MAKE FIRM POWER HIS AND A MIGHTY [PERSON] NOT HE WILL SAVE LIFE HIS 14Escape will fail the swift, the strong will not prevail by his strength, and the mighty will not save his life.
15AND [THE] HANDLER OF THE BOW NOT HE WILL STAND AND A [PERSON] SWIFT ON FEET HIS NOT HE WILL SAVE AND [THE] RIDER OF THE HORSE NOT HE WILL SAVE LIFE HIS 15The archer will not stand his ground, the fleet of foot will not escape, and the horseman will not save his life.
16AND [THE] [PERSON] STRONG OF HEART HIS AMONG THE WARRIORS NAKED HE WILL FLEE ON THE DAY <THE> THAT [THE] UTTERANCE OF YAHWEH 16Even the bravest of mighty men will flee naked on that day,” declares the LORD.
