3THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH ON THREE <THE> TRANSGRESSIONS OF DAMASCUS AND ON FOUR NOT I WILL REVOKE IT BECAUSE THRESHED THEY WITH [THE] THRESHING SLEDGES OF <THE> IRON <OBJ.> <THE> GILEAD 3This is what the LORD says: “For three transgressions of Damascus, even four, I will not revoke My judgment,*NoteCloseOr I will not revoke the punishment; Hebrew I will not revoke it; also in verses 6, 9, 11, and 13 because they threshed Gilead with sledges of iron.
4AND I WILL SEND FORTH A FIRE ON [THE] HOUSE OF HAZAEL AND IT WILL CONSUME [THE] FORTRESSES OF BEN HADAD 4So I will send fire upon the house of Hazael to consume the citadels of Ben-hadad.
5AND I WILL BREAK [THE] BAR OF DAMASCUS AND I WILL CUT OFF INHABITANT[S] FROM [THE] VALLEY OF AVEN AND A HOLDER OF A SCEPTER FROM BETH EDEN AND THEY WILL GO INTO EXILE [THE] PEOPLE OF ARAM KIR TOWARDS HE SAYS YAHWEH 5I will break down the gates of Damascus; I will cut off the ruler*NoteCloseOr the inhabitants from the Valley of Aven*NoteCloseAven means wickedness. and the one who wields the scepter in Beth-eden. The people of Aram will be exiled to Kir,” says the LORD.
6THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH ON THREE <THE> TRANSGRESSIONS OF GAZA AND ON FOUR NOT I WILL REVOKE IT BECAUSE CARRIED AWAY INTO EXILE THEY EXILE COMPLETE TO DELIVER UP [THEM] TO EDOM 6This is what the LORD says: “For three transgressions of Gaza, even four, I will not revoke My judgment, because they exiled a whole population, delivering them up to Edom.
7AND I WILL SEND FORTH A FIRE ON [THE] WALL OF GAZA AND IT WILL CONSUME FORTRESSES ITS 7So I will send fire upon the walls of Gaza, to consume its citadels.
8AND I WILL CUT OFF INHABITANT[S] FROM ASHDOD AND A HOLDER OF A SCEPTER FROM ASHKELON AND I WILL TURN HAND MY ON EKRON AND THEY WILL PERISH [THE] REMNANT OF [THE] PHILISTINES HE SAYS [THE] LORD YAHWEH 8I will cut off the ruler of Ashdod and the one who wields the scepter in Ashkelon. I will turn My hand against Ekron, and the remnant of the Philistines will perish,” says the Lord GOD.
9THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH ON THREE <THE> TRANSGRESSIONS OF TYRE AND ON FOUR NOT I WILL REVOKE IT BECAUSE DELIVERED UP THEY EXILE COMPLETE TO EDOM AND NOT THEY REMEMBERED [THE] COVENANT OF BROTHERS 9This is what the LORD says: “For three transgressions of Tyre, even four, I will not revoke My judgment, because they delivered up a whole congregation of exiles to Edom and broke a covenant of brotherhood.
10AND I WILL SEND FORTH A FIRE ON [THE] WALL OF TYRE AND IT WILL CONSUME FORTRESSES ITS 10So I will send fire upon the walls of Tyre to consume its citadels.”
11THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH ON THREE <THE> TRANSGRESSIONS OF EDOM AND ON FOUR NOT I WILL REVOKE IT BECAUSE PURSUED HE WITH THE SWORD BROTHER HIS AND HE SPOILED COMPASSION<S> HIS AND IT TORE FOR EVER ANGER HIS AND FURY HIS HE KEPT IT PERPETUITY 11This is what the LORD says: “For three transgressions of Edom, even four, I will not revoke My judgment, because he pursued his brother with the sword and stifled all compassion; his anger raged continually, and his fury flamed incessantly.
12AND I WILL SEND FORTH A FIRE ON TEMAN AND IT WILL CONSUME [THE] FORTRESSES OF BOZRAH 12So I will send fire upon Teman to consume the citadels of Bozrah.”
13THUS HE SAYS YAHWEH ON THREE <THE> TRANSGRESSIONS OF [THE] PEOPLE OF AMMON AND ON FOUR NOT I WILL REVOKE IT BECAUSE RIPPED OPEN THEY [THE] PREGNANT [WOMEN] OF <THE> GILEAD SO AS TO ENLARGE <OBJ.> TERRITORY THEIR 13This is what the LORD says: “For three transgressions of the Ammonites, even four, I will not revoke My judgment, because they ripped open the pregnant women of Gilead in order to enlarge their territory.
14AND I WILL KINDLE A FIRE ON [THE] WALL OF RABBAH AND IT WILL CONSUME FORTRESSES ITS WITH A SHOUT OF ALARM ON [THE] DAY OF BATTLE WITH A STORM ON [THE] DAY OF A STORM-WIND 14So I will kindle a fire in the walls of Rabbah to consume its citadels amid war cries on the day of battle and a violent wind on the day of tempest.
15AND HE WILL GO KING THEIR IN <THE> EXILE HE AND OFFICIALS HIS TOGETHER HE SAYS YAHWEH 15Their king will go into exile*NoteClosePossibly Milcom will go into exile; Milcom, also called Molech, was god of the Ammonites; see Leviticus 18:21 and 1 Kings 11:7. — he and his princes together,” says the LORD.
