1 IF HE WILL ARISE IN MIDST YOUR A PROPHET OR A DREAMER OF A DREAM AND HE WILL GIVE TO YOU A SIGN OR A WONDER
Idolaters to Be Put to Death
1 If a prophet or dreamer of dreams arises among you and proclaims a sign or wonder to you,
2 AND IT WILL COME THE SIGN AND THE WONDER WHICH HE SPOKE TO YOU <TO> SAYING LET US WALK AFTER GODS OTHER WHICH NOT YOU HAVE KNOWN THEM AND LET US BE ENTICED TO SERVE THEM
2 and if the sign or wonder he has spoken to you comes about, but he says, “Let us follow other gods (which you have not known) and let us worship them,”
3 NOT YOU WILL LISTEN TO [THE] WORDS OF THE PROPHET <THE> THAT OR TO [THE] DREAMER OF THE DREAM <THE> THAT FOR [IS] PUTTING TO [THE] TEST YAHWEH GOD YOUR <OBJ.> YOU TO KNOW ¿ [ARE] THERE YOU LOVING <OBJ.> YAHWEH GOD YOUR WITH ALL HEART YOUR AND WITH ALL BEING YOUR
3 you must not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer. For the LORD your God is testing you to find out whether you love Him with all your heart and with all your soul.
4 AFTER YAHWEH GOD YOUR YOU WILL WALK AND <OBJ.> HIM YOU WILL FEAR AND <OBJ.> COMMANDMENTS HIS YOU WILL KEEP AND TO VOICE HIS YOU WILL LISTEN AND <OBJ.> HIM YOU WILL SERVE AND TO HIM YOU WILL CLEAVE !
4 You are to follow the LORD your God and fear Him. Keep His commandments and listen to His voice; serve Him and hold fast to Him.
5 AND THE PROPHET <THE> THAT OR [THE] DREAMER OF THE DREAM <THE> THAT HE WILL BE PUT TO DEATH FOR HE HAS SPOKEN REBELLION ON YAHWEH GOD YOUR WHO BROUGHT OUT <OBJ.> YOU FROM [THE] LAND OF EGYPT AND WHO REDEEMED YOU FROM A HOUSE OF SLAVES TO THRUST ASIDE YOU FROM THE WAY WHICH HE HAS COMMANDED YOU YAHWEH GOD YOUR TO WALK IN IT AND YOU WILL REMOVE THE EVIL FROM MIDST YOUR
5 Such a prophet or dreamer must be put to death, because he has advocated rebellion against the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt and redeemed you from the house of slavery; he has tried to turn you from the way in which the LORD your God has commanded you to walk So you must purge the evil from among you.
6 IF HE WILL ENTICE YOU BROTHER YOUR [THE] SON OF MOTHER YOUR OR SON YOUR OR DAUGHTER YOUR OR [THE] WIFE OF BOSOM YOUR OR FRIEND YOUR WHO [IS] LIKE SELF YOUR IN <THE> SECRECY <TO> SAYING LET US GO AND LET US SERVE GODS OTHER WHICH NOT YOU HAVE KNOWN YOU AND ANCESTORS YOUR
6 If your very own brother, or your son or daughter, or the wife you embrace, or your closest friend secretly entices you, saying, “Let us go and worship other gods” (which neither you nor your fathers have known,
7 ANY OF [THE] GODS OF THE PEOPLES WHICH [ARE] AROUND YOU <THE> NEAR TO YOU OR <THE> DISTANT FROM YOU FROM [THE] END OF THE EARTH AND TO [THE] END OF THE EARTH
7 the gods of the peoples around you, whether near or far, whether from one end of the earth or the other
8 NOT YOU WILL YIELD TO HIM AND NOT YOU WILL LISTEN TO HIM AND NOT IT WILL LOOK WITH PITY EYE YOUR ON HIM AND NOT YOU WILL SPARE [HIM] AND NOT YOU WILL COVER OVER HIM
8 you must not yield to him or listen to him. Show him no pity and do not spare him or shield him.
9 FOR CERTAINLY <TO KILL> YOU WILL KILL HIM HAND YOUR IT WILL BE ON HIM AT THE FIRST TO PUT TO DEATH HIM AND [THE] HAND OF ALL THE PEOPLE AT THE LAST
9 Instead, you must surely kill him. Your hand must be the first against him to put him to death, and then the hands of all the people.
10 AND YOU WILL STONE HIM WITH <THE> STONES AND HE WILL DIE FOR HE SOUGHT TO THRUST ASIDE YOU FROM WITH YAHWEH GOD YOUR WHO BROUGHT OUT YOU FROM [THE] LAND OF EGYPT FROM A HOUSE OF SLAVES
10 Stone him to death for trying to turn you away from the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
11 AND ALL ISRAEL THEY WILL HEAR AND THEY WILL FEAR ! AND NOT THEY WILL REPEAT TO DO LIKE THE THING <THE> EVIL <THE> THIS IN MIDST YOUR
11 Then all Israel will hear and be afraid, and will never again do such a wicked thing among you.
12 IF YOU WILL HEAR IN ONE OF CITIES YOUR WHICH YAHWEH GOD YOUR [IS] ABOUT TO GIVE TO YOU TO DWELL THERE <TO> SAYING
Idolatrous Cities to Be Destroyed
12 If, regarding one of the cities the LORD your God is giving you to inhabit, you hear it said
13 THEY HAVE GONE OUT MEN SONS OF WORTHLESSNESS FROM MIDST YOUR AND THEY HAVE THRUST ASIDE <OBJ.> [THE] INHABITANTS OF CITY THEIR <TO> SAYING LET US GO AND LET US SERVE GODS OTHER WHICH NOT YOU HAVE KNOWN
13 that wicked men have arisen from among you and have led the people of their city astray, saying, “Let us go and serve other gods” (which you have not known),
14 AND YOU WILL INVESTIGATE AND YOU WILL SEARCH AND YOU WILL ENQUIRE THOROUGHLY <DO WELL> AND THERE! TRUTH [IS] CERTAIN THE MATTER IT HAS BEEN DONE THE ABOMINATION <THE> THIS IN MIDST YOUR
14 then you must inquire, investigate, and interrogate thoroughly. And if it is established with certainty that this abomination has been committed among you,
15 CERTAINLY <TO STRIKE> YOU WILL STRIKE <OBJ.> [THE] INHABITANTS OF THE CITY <THE> THAT TO [THE] MOUTH OF [THE] SWORD TOTALLY DESTROY <OBJ.> IT AND <OBJ.> ALL WHO [ARE] IN IT AND <OBJ.> LIVESTOCK ITS TO [THE] MOUTH OF [THE] SWORD
15 you must surely put the inhabitants of that city to the sword. Devote to destruction all its people and livestock.
16 AND <OBJ.> ALL PLUNDER ITS YOU WILL GATHER INTO [THE] MIDDLE OF OPEN PLACE ITS AND YOU WILL BURN WITH <THE> FIRE <OBJ.> THE CITY AND <OBJ.> ALL PLUNDER ITS A WHOLE OFFERING TO YAHWEH GOD YOUR AND IT WILL BE A MOUND OF PERPETUITY NOT IT WILL BE BUILT AGAIN
16 And you are to gather all its plunder in the middle of the public square, and completely burn the city and all its plunder as a whole burnt offering to the LORD your God. The city must remain a mound of ruins forever, never to be rebuilt.
17 AND NOT IT WILL CLING TO HAND YOUR ANYTHING OF THE OBJECT[S] FOR DESTRUCTION SO THAT HE MAY TURN YAHWEH FROM [THE] BURNING OF ANGER HIS AND HE WILL GIVE TO YOU COMPASSION<S> AND HE WILL HAVE COMPASSION ON YOU AND HE WILL INCREASE YOU JUST AS HE SWORE TO ANCESTORS YOUR
17 Nothing devoted to destruction shall cling to your hands, so that the LORD will turn from His fierce anger, grant you mercy, show you compassion, and multiply you as He swore to your fathers,
18 FOR YOU WILL LISTEN TO [THE] VOICE OF YAHWEH GOD YOUR TO KEEP <OBJ.> ALL COMMANDMENTS HIS WHICH I [AM] COMMANDING YOU THIS DAY TO DO THE RIGHT IN [THE] EYES OF YAHWEH GOD YOUR
18 because you obey the LORD your God, keeping all His commandments I am giving you today and doing what is right in the eyes of the LORD your God.
