23WHICH IS THE BODY OF HIM, THE FULLNESS OF THE [ONE] <THE> ALL IN ALL FILLING. 23which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
1AND YOU BEING DEAD IN THE TRESPASSES AND IN THE SINS OF YOU, Alive with Christ (Colossians 2:6–23) 1And you were dead in your trespasses and sins,
2IN WHICH ONCE YOU WALKED ACCORDING TO THE AGE <THE> WORLD OF THIS, ACCORDING TO THE RULER OF THE AUTHORITY OF THE AIR, THE SPIRIT <THE> NOW WORKING IN THE SONS <THE> OF DISOBEDIENCE, 2in which you used to walk when you conformed to the ways of this world and of the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit who is now at work in the sons of disobedience.
3AMONG WHOM ALSO WE OURSELVES ALL LIVED ONCE IN THE DESIRES OF THE FLESH OF US DOING THE THINGS WILLED OF THE FLESH AND OF [ITS] THOUGHTS AND WE WERE CHILDREN BY NATURE OF WRATH AS EVEN THE REST. 3All of us also lived among them at one time, fulfilling the cravings of our flesh and indulging its desires and thoughts Like the rest, we were by nature children of wrath.
4<THE> BUT GOD RICH BEING IN MERCY BECAUSE OF THE GREAT LOVE OF HIM WITH WHICH HE LOVED US, 4But because of His great love for us God, who is rich in mercy,
5EVEN BEING WE DEAD <THE> IN TRESPASSES MADE [US] ALIVE WITH <THE> CHRIST — BY GRACE YOU ARE SAVED —. 5made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in our trespasses. It is by grace you have been saved!
6AND HE RAISED [US] UP TOGETHER AND HE SEATED [US] TOGETHER IN THE HEAVENLY REALMS IN CHRIST JESUS, 6And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,
7IN ORDER THAT HE MAY SHOW IN THE AGES THAT [ARE] COMING THE SURPASSING RICHES OF THE GRACE OF HIM IN KINDNESS TOWARD US IN CHRIST JESUS. 7in order that in the coming ages He might display the surpassing riches of His grace, demonstrated by His kindness to us in Christ Jesus.
8<THE> FOR BY GRACE YOU ARE SAVED THROUGH <THE> FAITH, AND THIS NOT OF YOURSELVES, [IT IS] OF GOD THE GIFT, 8For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God,
10OF HIM FOR WE ARE WORKMANSHIP HAVING BEEN CREATED IN CHRIST JESUS FOR WORKS GOOD WHICH PREPARED BEFOREHAND <THE> GOD, THAT IN THEM WE MAY WALK. 10For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance as our way of life.*NoteCloseLiterally which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
11THEREFORE DO REMEMBER THAT FORMERLY YOU YOURSELVES THE GENTILES IN [THE] FLESH, THE ONES BEING NAMED [THE] UNCIRCUMCISION BY WHICH IS BEING NAMED [THE] CIRCUMCISION IN [THE] FLESH MADE BY HANDS — One in Christ (Philippians 2:1–4) 11Therefore remember that formerly you who are Gentiles in the flesh and called uncircumcised by the so-called circumcision (that done in the body by human hands)—
12FOR YOU WERE IN <THE> TIME THAT [VERY] SEPARATE FROM CHRIST ALIENATED FROM THE COMMONWEALTH <THE> OF ISRAEL AND STRANGERS TO THE COVENANTS OF THE PROMISE, HOPE NOT HAVING AND WITHOUT GOD IN THE WORLD; 12remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world.
13NOW HOWEVER IN CHRIST JESUS YOU YOURSELVES THE [ONES] ONCE BEING FAR OFF HAVE BECOME NEAR BY THE BLOOD <THE> OF CHRIST. 13But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.
14HE HIMSELF FOR IS THE PEACE OF US, WHICH HAVING MADE <THE> BOTH ONE AND THE BARRIER OF THE FENCE HAVING BROKEN DOWN, [15] THE HOSTILITY IN THE FLESH OF HIM, 14For He Himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has torn down the dividing wall of hostility
15THE LAW <THE> OF COMMANDMENTS IN ORDINANCES HAVING ANNULLED, SO THAT THE TWO HE MAY CREATE IN HIM INTO ONE NEW MAN MAKING PEACE, 15by abolishing in His flesh the law of commandments and decrees. He did this to create in Himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace
16AND HE MAY RECONCILE <THE> BOTH IN ONE BODY <THE> TO GOD THROUGH THE CROSS HAVING SLAIN THE HOSTILITY BY IT; 16and reconciling both of them to God in one body through the cross, by which He put to death their hostility.
17AND HAVING COME HE EVANGELISED PEACE TO YOU THE [ONES] FAR OFF AND PEACE TO THOSE [WHO ARE] NEAR, 17He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near.
18FOR THROUGH HIM WE HAVE THE ACCESS <THE> BOTH BY ONE SPIRIT TO THE FATHER. 18For through Him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.
19SO THEN NO LONGER ARE YOU STRANGERS AND ALIENS, BUT ARE FELLOW CITIZENS OF THE SAINTS AND OF THE HOUSEHOLD <THE> OF GOD Christ Our Cornerstone (Isaiah 28:14–22; 1 Corinthians 3:10–15; 1 Peter 2:1–8) 19Therefore you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of God’s household,
20HAVING BEEN BUILT UPON THE FOUNDATION OF THE APOSTLES AND PROPHETS, BEING [THE] CORNERSTONE HIMSELF CHRIST JESUS 20built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the cornerstone.
21IN WHOM [THE] WHOLE <THE> BUILDING BEING FITTED TOGETHER IS INCREASING INTO A TEMPLE HOLY IN [THE] LORD, 21In Him the whole building is fitted together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord.
22IN WHOM ALSO YOU YOURSELVES ARE BEING BUILT TOGETHER FOR A HABITATION <THE> OF GOD IN [THE] SPIRIT. 22And in Him you too are being built together into a dwelling place for God in His Spirit.
