51AND IT WAS ON [THE] SUBSTANCE OF THE DAY <THE> THIS HE BROUGHT OUT YAHWEH <OBJ.> [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL FROM [THE] LAND OF EGYPT ON HOSTS THEIR 51And on that very day the LORD brought the Israelites out of the land of Egypt by their divisions.
1AND HE SPOKE YAHWEH TO MOSES <TO> SAYING The Dedication of the Firstborn (Deuteronomy 15:19–23) 1Then the LORD said to Moses,
2CONSECRATE TO ME EVERY FIRSTBORN [THE] FIRSTBORN OF EVERY WOMB AMONG [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL AMONG <THE> HUMANKIND AND AMONG THE LIVESTOCK [BELONGS] TO ME IT 2“Consecrate to Me every firstborn male.*NoteCloseCited in Luke 2:23 The firstborn from every womb among the Israelites belongs to Me, both of man and beast.”
3AND HE SAID MOSES TO THE PEOPLE REMEMBER <OBJ.> THE DAY <THE> THIS WHEN YOU WENT OUT FROM EGYPT FROM A HOUSE OF SLAVES FOR WITH STRENGTH OF HAND HE BROUGHT OUT YAHWEH <OBJ.> YOU FROM HERE AND NOT IT WILL BE EATEN LEAVEN 3So Moses told the people, “Remember this day, the day you came out of Egypt, out of the house of slavery; for the LORD brought you out of it by the strength of His hand. And nothing leavened shall be eaten.

5AND IT WILL BE THAT HE WILL BRING YOU YAHWEH INTO [THE] LAND OF THE CANAANITE[S] AND THE HITTITE[S] AND THE AMORITE[S] AND THE HIVITE[S] AND THE JEBUSITE[S] WHICH HE SWORE TO ANCESTORS YOUR TO GIVE TO YOU A LAND FLOWING OF MILK AND HONEY AND YOU WILL SERVE <OBJ.> THE SERVICE <THE> THIS IN THE MONTH <THE> THIS 5And when the LORD brings you into the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Hivites, and Jebusites— the land He swore to your fathers that He would give you, a land flowing with milk and honey— you shall keep this service in this month.
6SEVEN DAYS YOU WILL EAT UNLEAVENED BREAD<S> AND [WILL BE] ON THE DAY <THE> SEVENTH A FESTIVAL OF YAHWEH 6For seven days you are to eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day there shall be a feast to the LORD.
7UNLEAVENED BREAD<S> IT WILL BE EATEN <OBJ.> [THE] SEVEN THE DAYS AND NOT IT WILL BE SEEN BY YOU LEAVEN AND NOT IT WILL BE SEEN BY YOU LEAVEN IN ALL TERRITORY YOUR 7Unleavened bread shall be eaten during those seven days. Nothing leavened may be found among you, nor shall leaven be found anywhere within your borders.
8AND YOU WILL TELL TO CHILD YOUR ON THE DAY <THE> THAT <TO> SAYING FOR SAKE OF WHAT HE DID YAHWEH FOR ME WHEN CAME OUT I FROM EGYPT 8And on that day you are to explain to your son, ‘This is because of what the LORD did for me when I came out of Egypt.’
9AND IT WILL BECOME FOR YOU <INTO> A SIGN ON HAND YOUR AND <INTO> A REMINDER BETWEEN EYES YOUR SO THAT <IT> MAY BE [THE] LAW OF YAHWEH IN MOUTH YOUR FOR BY A HAND STRONG HE BROUGHT OUT YOU YAHWEH FROM EGYPT 9It shall be a sign for you on your hand and a reminder on your forehead that the Law of the LORD is to be on your lips. For with a mighty hand the LORD brought you out of Egypt.
10AND YOU WILL KEEP <OBJ.> THE STATUTE <THE> THIS TO APPOINTED TIME ITS FROM DAYS DAYS TOWARDS 10Therefore you shall keep this statute at the appointed time year after year.
11AND IT WILL BE THAT HE WILL BRING YOU YAHWEH INTO [THE] LAND OF THE CANAANITE[S] JUST AS HE SWORE TO YOU AND TO ANCESTORS YOUR AND HE WILL GIVE IT TO YOU 11And after the LORD brings you into the land of the Canaanites and gives it to you, as He swore to you and your fathers,
12AND YOU WILL DEDICATE EVERY FIRSTBORN OF A WOMB TO YAHWEH AND EVERY FIRSTBORN OF [THE] OFFSPRING OF CATTLE WHICH IT WILL BE[LONG] TO YOU THE MALES [WILL BELONG] TO YAHWEH 12you are to present to the LORD the firstborn male of every womb. All the firstborn males of your livestock belong to the LORD.
13AND EVERY FIRSTBORN OF A DONKEY YOU WILL REDEEM WITH A SHEEP AND IF NOT YOU WILL REDEEM [IT] AND YOU WILL BREAK NECK ITS AND EVERY FIRSTBORN OF HUMANKIND AMONG SONS YOUR YOU WILL REDEEM 13You must redeem every firstborn donkey with a lamb, and if you do not redeem it, you are to break its neck. And every firstborn of your sons you must redeem.
14AND IT WILL BE THAT HE WILL ASK YOU SON YOUR IN FUTURE TIME <TO> SAYING WHAT? [IS] THIS AND YOU WILL SAY TO HIM WITH STRENGTH OF HAND HE BROUGHT OUT US YAHWEH FROM EGYPT FROM A HOUSE OF SLAVES 14In the future, when your son asks you, ‘What does this mean?’ you are to tell him, ‘With a mighty hand the LORD brought us out of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
15AND IT WAS THAT HE MADE STUBBORN PHARAOH TO LET GO US AND HE KILLED YAHWEH EVERY FIRSTBORN IN [THE] LAND OF EGYPT FROM [THE] FIRSTBORN OF HUMANKIND AND UNTO [THE] FIRSTBORN OF LIVESTOCK THERE- -FORE I [AM] SACRIFICING TO YAHWEH EVERY FIRSTBORN OF A WOMB THE MALES AND EVERY <THE> FIRSTBORN OF SONS MY I REDEEM 15And when Pharaoh stubbornly refused to let us go, the LORD killed every firstborn in the land of Egypt, both of man and beast. This is why I sacrifice to the LORD the firstborn male of every womb, but I redeem all the firstborn of my sons.’
16AND IT WILL BECOME <INTO> A SIGN ON HAND YOUR AND <INTO> MARKS BETWEEN EYES YOUR FOR WITH STRENGTH OF HAND HE BROUGHT OUT US YAHWEH FROM EGYPT 16So it shall serve as a sign on your hand and a symbol on your forehead, for with a mighty hand the LORD brought us out of Egypt.”
17AND IT WAS WHEN LET GO PHARAOH <OBJ.> THE PEOPLE AND NOT HE LED THEM GOD [THE] WAY OF [THE] LAND OF [THE] PHILISTINES FOR [WAS] NEAR IT FOR HE SAID GOD LEST IT SHOULD REGRET THE PEOPLE WHEN SEE THEY BATTLE AND THEY WILL RETURN EGYPT TOWARDS The Pillars of Cloud and Fire 17When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them along the road through the land of the Philistines, though it was shorter. For God said, “If the people face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.”
18AND HE CAUSED TO GO AROUND GOD <OBJ.> THE PEOPLE [THE] WAY OF THE WILDERNESS [THE] SEA OF REED[S] AND ARRAYED FOR BATTLE THEY WENT UP [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL FROM [THE] LAND OF EGYPT 18So God led the people around by the way of the wilderness toward the Red Sea.*NoteCloseOr the Sea of Reeds And the Israelites left the land of Egypt arrayed for battle.*NoteCloseLXX left the land of Egypt in the fifth generation
19AND HE TOOK MOSES <OBJ.> [THE] BONES OF JOSEPH WITH HIM FOR CERTAINLY <TO MAKE SWEAR> HE HAD MADE SWEAR <OBJ.> [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL <TO> SAYING CERTAINLY <TO VISIT> HE WILL VISIT GOD <OBJ.> YOU AND YOU WILL TAKE UP <OBJ.> BONES MY FROM HERE WITH YOU 19Moses took the bones of Joseph with him because Joseph had made the sons of Israel swear a solemn oath when he said, “God will surely attend to you, and then you must carry my bones with you from this place.”*NoteCloseGenesis 50:25
20AND THEY SET OUT FROM SUCCOTH AND THEY ENCAMPED AT ETHAM ON [THE] EDGE OF THE WILDERNESS 20They set out from Succoth and camped at Etham on the edge of the wilderness.
21AND YAHWEH [WAS] GOING <TO> BEFORE THEM BY DAY IN A PILLAR OF CLOUD TO GUIDE THEM THE JOURNEY AND NIGHT IN A PILLAR OF FIRE TO GIVE LIGHT TO THEM TO GO BY DAY AND NIGHT 21And the LORD went before them in a pillar of cloud to guide their way by day, and in a pillar of fire to give them light by night, so that they could travel by day or night.
22NOT IT DEPARTED [THE] PILLAR OF <THE> CLOUD BY DAY AND [THE] PILLAR OF <THE> FIRE NIGHT <TO> BEFORE THE PEOPLE 22Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night left its place before the people.
