23AND FROM THEN I WENT TO PHARAOH TO SPEAK IN NAME YOUR HE HAS DONE HARM TO THE PEOPLE <THE> THIS AND CERTAINLY <TO DELIVER> NOT YOU HAVE DELIVERED <OBJ.> PEOPLE YOUR 23Ever since I went to Pharaoh to speak in Your name, he has brought trouble on this people, and You have not delivered Your people in any way.”
1AND HE SAID YAHWEH TO MOSES NOW YOU WILL SEE [THAT] WHICH I WILL DO TO PHARAOH FOR BY A HAND STRONG HE WILL LET GO THEM AND BY A HAND STRONG HE WILL DRIVE OUT THEM FROM LAND HIS God Promises Deliverance 1But the LORD said to Moses, “Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh, for because of My mighty hand he will let the people go; because of My strong hand he will drive them out of his land.”
3AND I APPEARED TO ABRAHAM TO ISAAC AND TO JACOB <IN> GOD ALMIGHTY AND NAME MY YAHWEH NOT I MADE MYSELF KNOWN TO <THE> THEM 3I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob as God Almighty,*NoteCloseHebrew El-Shaddai but by My name the LORD I did not make Myself known to them.
4AND ALSO I ESTABLISHED <OBJ.> COVENANT MY WITH THEM TO GIVE TO <THE> THEM <OBJ.> [THE] LAND OF CANAAN <OBJ.> [THE] LAND OF SOJOURNINGS THEIR WHICH THEY SOJOURNED IN <THE> IT 4I also established My covenant with them to give them the land of Canaan, the land where they lived as foreigners
5AND ALSO I I HAVE HEARD <OBJ.> [THE] GROANING OF [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL WHOM EGYPT [ARE] COMPELLING TO LABOR <OBJ.> THEM AND I HAVE REMEMBERED <OBJ.> COVENANT MY 5Furthermore, I have heard the groaning of the Israelites, whom the Egyptians are enslaving, and I have remembered My covenant.
6<TO> THEREFORE SAY TO [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL I [AM] YAHWEH AND I WILL BRING OUT <OBJ.> YOU FROM UNDER [THE] FORCED LABOR OF EGYPT AND I WILL DELIVER <OBJ.> YOU FROM LABOR THEIR AND I WILL REDEEM <OBJ.> YOU BY AN ARM OUTSTRETCHED AND WITH ACTS OF JUDGMENT GREAT 6Therefore tell the Israelites: ‘I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians and deliver you from their bondage. I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment.
7AND I WILL TAKE <OBJ.> YOU FOR <THE> MYSELF TO A PEOPLE AND I WILL BECOME FOR <THE> YOU <INTO> GOD AND YOU WILL KNOW THAT I [AM] YAHWEH GOD YOUR WHO BROUGHT OUT <OBJ.> YOU FROM UNDER [THE] FORCED LABOR OF EGYPT 7I will take you as My own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians.
8AND I WILL BRING <OBJ.> YOU INTO THE LAND WHICH I LIFTED UP <OBJ.> HAND MY TO GIVE <OBJ.> IT TO ABRAHAM TO ISAAC AND TO JACOB AND I WILL GIVE <OBJ.> IT TO <THE> YOU A POSSESSION I [AM] YAHWEH 8And I will bring you into the land that I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. I will give it to you as a possession. I am the LORD!’”
9AND HE SPOKE MOSES THUS TO [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL AND NOT THEY LISTENED TO MOSES FROM SHORTNESS OF SPIRIT AND FROM LABOR HARD 9Moses relayed this message to the Israelites, but on account of their broken spirit and cruel bondage, they did not listen to him.
11GO SPEAK TO PHARAOH [THE] KING OF EGYPT SO HE MAY LET GO <OBJ.> [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL FROM LAND HIS 11“Go and tell Pharaoh king of Egypt to let the Israelites go out of his land.”
12AND HE SPOKE MOSES <TO> BEFORE YAHWEH <TO> SAYING HERE! [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL NOT THEY HAVE LISTENED TO ME AND HOW? WILL HE LISTEN TO ME PHARAOH AND I [AM] UNCIRCUMCISED OF LIPS 12But in the LORD’s presence Moses replied, “If the Israelites will not listen to me, then why would Pharaoh listen to me, since I am unskilled in speech?*NoteCloseHebrew I have uncircumcised lips; also in verse 30 ”
13AND HE SPOKE YAHWEH TO MOSES AND TO AARON AND HE COMMANDED THEM TO [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL AND TO PHARAOH [THE] KING OF EGYPT TO BRING OUT <OBJ.> [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL FROM [THE] LAND OF EGYPT 13Then the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron and gave them a charge concerning both the Israelites and Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring the Israelites out of the land of Egypt.
14THESE [WERE] [THE] HEADS OF [THE] HOUSEHOLD OF ANCESTORS THEIR [THE] SONS OF REUBEN [THE] FIRSTBORN OF ISRAEL [WERE] HANOCH AND PALLU HEZRON AND CARMI THESE [WERE] [THE] CLANS OF REUBEN Genealogies of Moses and Aaron 14These were the heads of their fathers’ houses: The sons of Reuben, the firstborn of Israel, were Hanoch and Pallu, Hezron and Carmi. These were the clans of Reuben.
15AND [THE] SONS OF SIMEON [WERE] JEMUEL AND JAMIN AND OHAD AND JAKIN AND ZOHAR AND SHAUL [THE] SON OF <THE> CANAANITE [WOMAN] THESE [WERE] [THE] CLANS OF SIMEON 15The sons of Simeon were Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jachin, Zohar,*NoteCloseZohar is a variant of Zerah; see Numbers 26:13 and 1 Chronicles 4:24. and Shaul, the son of a Canaanite woman. These were the clans of Simeon.
16AND THESE [WERE] [THE] NAMES OF [THE] SONS OF LEVI TO DESCENDANTS THEIR GERSHON AND KOHATH AND MERARI AND [THE] YEARS OF [THE] LIFE OF LEVI [WERE] SEVEN AND THIRTY AND ONE HUNDRED YEAR[S] 16These were the names of the sons of Levi according to their records: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari. Levi lived 137 years.
17[THE] SONS OF GERSHON [WERE] LIBNI AND SHIMEI TO CLANS THEIR 17The sons of Gershon were Libni and Shimei, by their clans.
18AND [THE] SONS OF KOHATH [WERE] AMRAM AND IZHAR AND HEBRON AND UZZIEL AND [THE] YEARS OF [THE] LIFE OF KOHATH [WERE] THREE AND THIRTY AND ONE HUNDRED YEAR[S] 18The sons of Kohath were Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel. Kohath lived 133 years.
19AND [THE] SONS OF MERARI [WERE] MAHLI AND MUSHI THESE [WERE] [THE] CLANS OF THE LEVITE[S] TO DESCENDANTS THEIR 19The sons of Merari were Mahli and Mushi. These were the clans of the Levites according to their records.
20AND HE TOOK AMRAM <OBJ.> JOCHEBED FATHER'S SISTER HIS FOR <THE> HIMSELF TO A WIFE AND SHE BORE TO <THE> HIM <OBJ.> AARON AND <OBJ.> MOSES AND [THE] YEARS OF [THE] LIFE OF AMRAM [WERE] SEVEN AND THIRTY AND ONE HUNDRED YEAR[S] 20And Amram married his father’s sister Jochebed, and she bore him Aaron and Moses. Amram lived 137 years.
21AND [THE] SONS OF IZHAR [WERE] KORAH AND NEPHEG AND ZIKRI 21The sons of Izhar were Korah, Nepheg, and Zichri.
22AND [THE] SONS OF UZZIEL [WERE] MISHAEL AND ELZAPHAN AND SITHRI 22The sons of Uzziel were Mishael, Elzaphan,*NoteCloseElzaphan is a variant of Elizaphan; see Numbers 3:30. and Sithri.
23AND HE TOOK AARON <OBJ.> ELISHEBA [THE] DAUGHTER OF AMMINADAB [THE] SISTER OF NAHSHON FOR <THE> HIMSELF TO A WIFE AND SHE BORE TO <THE> HIM <OBJ.> NADAB AND <OBJ.> ABIHU <OBJ.> ELEAZAR AND <OBJ.> ITHAMAR 23And Aaron married Elisheba, the daughter of Amminadab and sister of Nahshon and she bore him Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.
24AND [THE] SONS OF KORAH [WERE] ASSIR AND ELKANAH AND ABIASAPH THESE [WERE] [THE] CLANS OF THE KORAHITE[S] 24The sons of Korah were Assir, Elkanah, and Abiasaph.*NoteCloseAbiasaph is a variant of Ebiasaph; see 1 Chronicles 6:23 and 1 Chronicles 9:19. These were the clans of the Korahites.
25AND ELEAZAR [THE] SON OF AARON HE TOOK FOR <THE> HIMSELF ONE OF [THE] DAUGHTERS OF PUTIEL FOR <THE> HIMSELF TO A WIFE AND SHE BORE TO <THE> HIM <OBJ.> PHINEHAS THESE [WERE] [THE] HEADS OF [THE] ANCESTORS OF THE LEVITES TO CLANS THEIR 25Aaron’s son Eleazar married one of the daughters of Putiel and she bore him Phinehas. These were the heads of the Levite families by their clans.
26THAT AARON AND MOSES WHOM HE SAID YAHWEH TO <THE> THEM BRING OUT <OBJ.> [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL FROM [THE] LAND OF EGYPT ON HOSTS THEIR 26It was this Aaron and Moses to whom the LORD said, “Bring the Israelites out of the land of Egypt by their divisions.”
27THEY [WERE] THE [ONES WHO] WERE SPEAKING TO PHARAOH [THE] KING OF EGYPT TO BRING OUT <OBJ.> [THE] PEOPLE OF ISRAEL FROM EGYPT THAT MOSES AND AARON 27Moses and Aaron were the ones who spoke to Pharaoh king of Egypt in order to bring the Israelites out of Egypt.
28AND IT WAS ON [THE] DAY [WHEN] HE SPOKE YAHWEH TO MOSES IN [THE] LAND OF EGYPT 28Now on the day that the LORD spoke to Moses in Egypt,
29AND HE SPOKE YAHWEH TO MOSES <TO> SAYING I [AM] YAHWEH SPEAK TO PHARAOH [THE] KING OF EGYPT <OBJ.> ALL THAT I [AM] SPEAKING TO YOU 29He said to him, “I am the LORD; tell Pharaoh king of Egypt everything I say to you.”
30AND HE SAID MOSES <TO> BEFORE YAHWEH HERE! I [AM] UNCIRCUMCISED OF LIPS AND HOW? WILL HE LISTEN TO ME PHARAOH 30But in the LORD’s presence Moses replied, “Since I am unskilled in speech, why would Pharaoh listen to me?”
