34AND HE SOJOURNED ABRAHAM IN [THE] LAND OF [THE] PHILISTINES DAYS MANY 34And Abraham resided in the land of the Philistines for a long time.
1AND IT WAS AFTER THE THINGS <THE> THESE AND <THE> GOD HE PUT TO [THE] TEST <OBJ.> ABRAHAM AND HE SAID TO HIM O ABRAHAM AND HE SAID HERE [AM] I The Offering of Isaac (John 3:1–21) 1Some time later God tested Abraham and said to him, “Abraham!” “Here I am,” he answered.
2AND HE SAID TAKE PLEASE <OBJ.> SON YOUR <OBJ.> ONLY [SON] YOUR WHOM YOU LOVE <OBJ.> ISAAC AND GO FOR <THE> YOURSELF TO [THE] LAND OF <THE> MORIAH AND OFFER UP HIM THERE TO A BURNT OFFERING ON ONE OF THE MOUNTAINS WHICH I WILL TELL TO YOU 2“Take your son,” God said, “your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah. Offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, which I will show you.”
3AND HE ROSE EARLY ABRAHAM IN THE MORNING AND HE SADDLED <OBJ.> DONKEY HIS AND HE TOOK <OBJ.> TWO OF SERVANTS HIS WITH HIM AND <OBJ.> ISAAC SON HIS AND HE CUT WOOD<S> OF BURNT OFFERING AND HE AROSE AND HE WENT TO THE PLACE WHICH HE HAD SAID TO <THE> HIM <THE> GOD 3So Abraham got up early the next morning, saddled his donkey, and took along two of his servants and his son Isaac. He split the wood for a burnt offering and set out for the place God had designated.
4ON THE DAY <THE> THIRD AND HE LIFTED UP ABRAHAM <OBJ.> EYES HIS AND HE SAW <OBJ.> THE PLACE FROM A DISTANCE 4On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance.
5AND HE SAID ABRAHAM TO SERVANTS HIS REMAIN FOR <THE> YOURSELVES HERE WITH THE DONKEY AND I AND THE LAD WE WILL GO TO THERE SO WE MAY BOW DOWN AND WE WILL RETURN TO YOU 5“Stay here with the donkey,” Abraham told his servants. “The boy and I will go over there to worship, and then we will return to you.”
6AND HE TOOK ABRAHAM <OBJ.> [THE] WOOD<S> OF THE BURNT OFFERING AND HE PUT [IT] ON ISAAC SON HIS AND HE TOOK IN HAND HIS <OBJ.> THE FIRE AND <OBJ.> THE KNIFE AND THEY WENT [THE] TWO OF THEM TOGETHER 6Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and placed it on his son Isaac. He himself carried the fire and the sacrificial knife, and the two of them walked on together.
7AND HE SAID ISAAC TO ABRAHAM FATHER HIS AND HE SAID O FATHER MY AND HE SAID HERE [AM] I O SON MY AND HE SAID HERE! THE FIRE AND THE WOOD<S> AND WHERE? [IS] THE SHEEP FOR A BURNT OFFERING 7Then Isaac said to his father Abraham “My father!” “Here I am, my son,” he replied. “The fire and the wood are here,” said Isaac, “but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?”
8AND HE SAID ABRAHAM GOD HE WILL SEE FOR <THE> HIMSELF THE SHEEP FOR A BURNT OFFERING O SON MY AND THEY WENT [THE] TWO OF THEM TOGETHER 8Abraham answered, “God Himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” And the two walked on together.
9AND THEY CAME TO THE PLACE WHICH HE HAD SAID TO <THE> HIM <THE> GOD AND HE BUILT THERE ABRAHAM <OBJ.> THE ALTAR AND HE ARRANGED <OBJ.> THE WOOD<S> AND HE BOUND <OBJ.> ISAAC SON HIS AND HE PUT <OBJ.> HIM ON THE ALTAR FROM ABOVE <TO> THE WOOD<S> 9When they arrived at the place God had designated, Abraham built the altar there and arranged the wood. He bound his son Isaac and placed him on the altar, atop the wood.
10AND HE STRETCHED OUT ABRAHAM <OBJ.> HAND HIS AND HE TOOK <OBJ.> THE KNIFE TO SLAUGHTER <OBJ.> SON HIS 10Then Abraham reached out his hand and took the knife to slaughter his son.
11AND HE CALLED TO HIM [THE] ANGEL OF YAHWEH FROM THE HEAVENS AND HE SAID O ABRAHAM ABRAHAM AND HE SAID HERE [AM] I The LORD Provides the Sacrifice 11Just then the angel*NoteCloseOr Angel; also in verses 12 and 15 of the LORD called out to him from heaven “Abraham, Abraham!” “Here I am,” he replied.
12AND HE SAID MAY NOT YOU STRETCH OUT HAND YOUR AGAINST THE LAD AND MAY NOT YOU DO TO <THE> HIM ANYTHING FOR NOW I KNOW THAT [ARE ONE] FEARING <OF> GOD YOU AND NOT YOU HAVE WITHHELD <OBJ.> SON YOUR <OBJ.> ONLY [SON] YOUR FROM ME 12“Do not lay a hand on the boy or do anything to him,” said the angel, “for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your only son from me.*NoteCloseOr from Me ”
13AND HE LIFTED UP ABRAHAM <OBJ.> EYES HIS AND HE SAW AND THERE! A RAM BEHIND IT WAS CAUGHT IN THE THICKET BY HORNS ITS AND HE WENT ABRAHAM AND HE TOOK <OBJ.> THE RAM AND HE OFFERED UP IT TO A BURNT OFFERING IN PLACE OF SON HIS 13Then Abraham looked up and saw behind him a ram*NoteCloseMost MT manuscripts; other Hebrew manuscripts, SP, LXX, and Syriac saw one ram in a thicket, caught by its horns. So he went and took the ram and offered it as a burnt offering in place of his son.
14AND HE CALLED ABRAHAM [THE] NAME OF THE PLACE <THE> THAT YAHWEH HE WILL SEE THAT IT IS SAID THIS DAY ON [THE] MOUNTAIN OF YAHWEH IT WILL BE SEEN 14And Abraham called that place The LORD Will Provide.*NoteCloseHebrew YHWH Yireh So to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided.”
15AND HE CALLED [THE] ANGEL OF YAHWEH TO ABRAHAM A SECOND [TIME] FROM THE HEAVENS 15And the angel of the LORD called to Abraham from heaven a second time,
16AND HE SAID BY <THE> MYSELF I SWEAR [THE] UTTERANCE OF YAHWEH THAT BECAUSE THAT YOU HAVE DONE <OBJ.> THE THING <THE> THIS AND NOT YOU HAVE WITHHELD <OBJ.> SON YOUR <OBJ.> ONLY [SON] YOUR 16saying, “By Myself I have sworn, declares the LORD, that because you have done this and have not withheld your only son,
17FOR SURELY <BLESS> I WILL BLESS YOU AND CERTAINLY <TO INCREASE> I WILL INCREASE <OBJ.> OFFSPRING YOUR LIKE [THE] STARS OF THE HEAVENS AND LIKE THE SAND WHICH [IS] ON [THE] SHORE OF THE SEA SO <IT> MAY TAKE POSSESSION OF OFFSPRING YOUR <OBJ.> [THE] GATE OF ENEMIES ITS 17I will surely bless you, and I will multiply your descendants*NoteCloseCited in Hebrews 6:14 like the stars in the sky and the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will possess the gates of their enemies.
18AND THEY WILL BLESS THEMSELVES BY OFFSPRING YOUR ALL [THE] NATIONS OF THE EARTH CONSEQUENCE THAT YOU HAVE LISTENED TO VOICE MY 18And through your offspring all nations of the earth will be blessed,*NoteCloseCited in Acts 3:25 because you have obeyed My voice.”
19AND HE RETURNED ABRAHAM TO SERVANTS HIS AND THEY AROSE AND THEY WENT TOGETHER TO BEER SHEBA AND HE DWELT ABRAHAM IN BEER SHEBA 19Abraham went back to his servants, and they got up and set out together for Beersheba. And Abraham settled in Beersheba.
20AND IT WAS AFTER THE THINGS <THE> THESE AND IT WAS TOLD TO ABRAHAM <TO> SAYING THERE! SHE HAS BORNE MILCAH ALSO SHE CHILDREN TO NAHOR BROTHER YOUR The Sons of Nahor 20Some time later, Abraham was told, “Milcah has also borne sons to your brother Nahor:
21<OBJ.> UZ FIRSTBORN HIS AND <OBJ.> BUZ BROTHER HIS AND <OBJ.> KEMUEL [THE] FATHER OF ARAM 21Uz the firstborn, his brother Buz, Kemuel (the father of Aram),
22AND <OBJ.> KESED AND <OBJ.> HAZO AND <OBJ.> PILDASH AND <OBJ.> JIDLAPH AND <OBJ.> BETHUEL 22Chesed, Hazo, Pildash, Jidlaph, and Bethuel.”
23AND BETHUEL HE FATHERED <OBJ.> REBEKAH EIGHT [SONS] THESE SHE BORE MILCAH TO NAHOR [THE] BROTHER OF ABRAHAM 23And Bethuel became the father of Rebekah. Milcah bore these eight sons to Abraham’s brother Nahor.
24AND CONCUBINE HIS AND NAME HER [WAS] REUMAH AND SHE BORE ALSO SHE <OBJ.> TEBAH AND <OBJ.> GAHAM AND <OBJ.> TAHASH AND <OBJ.> MAACAH 24Moreover, Nahor’s concubine, whose name was Reumah, bore Tebah, Gaham, Tahash, and Maacah.
