[BELONGS] TO <THE> ME LIFE 46Then Rebekah said to Isaac, “I am weary of my life because of these Hittite women.*NoteCloseOr daughters of Heth If Jacob takes a Hittite wife from among them, what good is my life?”
1AND HE SUMMONED ISAAC <TO> JACOB AND HE BLESSED <OBJ.> HIM AND HE COMMANDED HIM AND HE SAID TO <THE> HIM NOT YOU MUST TAKE A WIFE FROM [THE] DAUGHTERS OF CANAAN Jacob’s Departure 1So Isaac called for Jacob and blessed him. “Do not take a wife from the Canaanite women,” he commanded
2ARISE GO PADDAN TOWARDS ARAM [THE] HOUSE OF TOWARDS BETHUEL [THE] FATHER OF MOTHER YOUR AND TAKE FOR <THE> YOURSELF FROM THERE A WIFE ONE OF [THE] DAUGHTERS OF LABAN [THE] BROTHER OF MOTHER YOUR 2“Go at once to Paddan-aram,*NoteCloseThat is, northwest Mesopotamia; also in verses 5, 6, and 7 to the house of your mother’s father Bethuel, and take a wife from among the daughters of Laban, your mother’s brother.

4AND MAY HE GIVE TO <THE> YOU <OBJ.> [THE] BLESSING OF ABRAHAM TO YOU AND TO OFFSPRING YOUR WITH YOU TO TAKE POSSESSION OF YOU <OBJ.> [THE] LAND OF SOJOURNINGS YOUR WHICH HE GAVE GOD TO ABRAHAM 4And may He give the blessing of Abraham to you and your descendants, so that you may possess the land where you dwell as a foreigner, the land God gave to Abraham.”
5AND HE SENT OFF ISAAC <OBJ.> JACOB AND HE WENT PADDAN TOWARDS ARAM TO LABAN [THE] SON OF BETHUEL THE ARAMEAN [THE] BROTHER OF REBEKAH [THE] MOTHER OF JACOB AND ESAU 5So Isaac sent Jacob to Paddan-aram, to Laban son of Bethuel the Aramean, the brother of Rebekah, who was the mother of Jacob and Esau.
6AND HE SAW ESAU THAT HE HAD BLESSED ISAAC <OBJ.> JACOB AND HE HAD SENT OFF <OBJ.> HIM PADDAN TOWARDS ARAM TO TAKE FOR <THE> HIMSELF FROM THERE A WIFE WHEN BLESSED HE <OBJ.> HIM AND HE HAD COMMANDED TO HIM <TO> SAYING NOT YOU MUST TAKE A WIFE FROM [THE] DAUGHTERS OF CANAAN Esau Marries Mahalath 6Now Esau learned that Isaac had blessed Jacob and sent him to Paddan-aram to take a wife there, commanding him, “Do not marry a Canaanite woman,”
7AND HE HAD LISTENED JACOB TO FATHER HIS AND TO MOTHER HIS AND HE HAD GONE PADDAN TOWARDS ARAM 7and that Jacob had obeyed his father and mother and gone to Paddan-aram.
8AND HE SAW ESAU THAT [WERE] DISPLEASING [THE] DAUGHTERS OF CANAAN IN [THE] EYES OF ISAAC FATHER HIS 8And seeing that his father Isaac disapproved of the Canaanite women,
9AND HE WENT ESAU TO ISHMAEL AND HE TOOK <OBJ.> MAHALATH [THE] DAUGHTER OF ISHMAEL [THE] SON OF ABRAHAM [THE] SISTER OF NEBAIOTH TO WIVES HIS FOR <THE> HIMSELF TO A WIFE 9Esau went to Ishmael and married Mahalath, the sister of Nebaioth and daughter of Abraham’s son Ishmael, in addition to the wives he already had.
10AND HE WENT OUT JACOB FROM BEER SHEBA AND HE WENT HARAN TOWARDS Jacob’s Ladder 10Meanwhile Jacob left Beersheba and set out for Haran.
11AND HE REACHED <IN> THE PLACE AND HE STAYED [THE] NIGHT THERE FOR IT HAD GONE THE SUN AND HE TOOK ONE OF [THE] STONES OF THE PLACE AND HE PUT [IT] [THE] PLACE OF HEAD HIS AND HE LAY DOWN IN THE PLACE <THE> THAT 11On reaching a certain place, he spent the night there because the sun had set. And taking one of the stones from that place, he put it under his head and lay down to sleep.
12AND HE DREAMED AND THERE! A STAIRWAY [WAS] PLACED [THE] EARTH TOWARDS AND TOP ITS [WAS] REACHING THE HEAVENS TOWARDS AND THERE! [THE] ANGELS OF GOD [WERE] GOING UP AND [WERE] GOING DOWN ON <THE> IT 12And Jacob had a dream about a ladder that rested on the earth with its top reaching up to heaven, and God’s angels were going up and down the ladder.
13AND THERE! YAHWEH [WAS] STANDING ON IT AND HE SAID I [AM] YAHWEH [THE] GOD OF ABRAHAM FATHER YOUR AND [THE] GOD OF ISAAC THE LAND WHICH YOU [ARE] LYING ON IT TO <THE> YOU I WILL GIVE IT AND TO OFFSPRING YOUR 13And there at the top*NoteCloseOr there beside him the LORD was standing and saying, “I am the LORD, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac. I will give you and your descendants the land on which you now lie.
14AND IT WILL BE OFFSPRING YOUR LIKE [THE] DUST OF THE EARTH AND YOU WILL SPREAD OUT WEST -WARD AND EAST -WARD AND NORTH -WARD AND SOUTH -WARD AND THEY WILL BE BLESSED BY <THE> YOU ALL [THE] CLANS OF THE EARTH AND BY OFFSPRING YOUR 14Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and east and north and south. All the families of the earth will be blessed through you and your offspring.
15AND HERE! I [AM] WITH YOU AND I WILL PROTECT YOU IN EVERY WHERE YOU WILL GO AND I WILL BRING BACK YOU TO THE LAND <THE> THIS FOR NOT I WILL ABANDON YOU UNTIL THAT <IF> I HAVE DONE <OBJ.> [THAT] WHICH I HAVE SPOKEN TO <THE> YOU 15Look, I am with you, and I will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. For I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”
16AND HE AWOKE JACOB FROM SLEEP HIS AND HE SAID TRULY THERE [IS] YAHWEH IN THE PLACE <THE> THIS AND I NOT I REALIZED 16When Jacob woke up, he said, “Surely the LORD is in this place, and I was unaware of it.”
17AND HE WAS AFRAID AND HE SAID HOW! AWESOME [IS] THE PLACE <THE> THIS [IS] NOT THIS THAT EXCEPT [THE] HOUSE OF GOD AND THIS [IS] [THE] GATE OF THE HEAVENS 17And he was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God; this is the gate of heaven!”
18AND HE ROSE EARLY JACOB IN THE MORNING AND HE TOOK <OBJ.> THE STONE WHICH HE HAD PUT [THE] PLACE OF HEAD HIS AND HE SET UP <OBJ.> IT A PILLAR AND HE POURED OIL ON TOP ITS The Stone of Bethel 18Early the next morning, Jacob took the stone that he had placed under his head, and he set it up as a pillar. He poured oil on top of it,
19AND HE CALLED <OBJ.> [THE] NAME OF THE PLACE <THE> THAT BETH- -EL AND BUT [WAS] LUZ [THE] NAME OF THE CITY TO THE FORMER [TIME] 19and he called that place Bethel,*NoteCloseBethel means house of God. though previously the city had been named Luz.
20AND HE VOWED JACOB A VOW <TO> SAYING IF HE WILL BE GOD WITH ME AND HE WILL PROTECT ME ON THE JOURNEY <THE> THIS WHICH I [AM] GOING AND HE WILL GIVE TO <THE> ME FOOD TO EAT AND CLOTHING TO WEAR 20Then Jacob made a vow, saying, “If God will be with me and watch over me on this. journey, and if He will provide me with food to eat and clothes to wear,
21AND I WILL RETURN IN PEACE TO [THE] HOUSE OF FATHER MY AND HE WILL BECOME YAHWEH FOR <THE> ME <INTO> GOD 21so that I may return safely to my father’s house, then the LORD will be my God.
22AND THE STONE <THE> THIS WHICH I HAVE SET UP A PILLAR IT WILL BE [THE] HOUSE OF GOD AND ALL THAT YOU WILL GIVE TO <THE> ME FULLY <TITHE> I WILL TITHE IT TO <THE> YOU 22And this stone I have set up as a pillar will be God’s house, and of all that You give me I will surely give You a tenth
