23AND IT WILL BE ABASHED THE MOON AND IT WILL BE ASHAMED THE SUN FOR HE WILL REIGN YAHWEH OF HOSTS ON [THE] MOUNTAIN OF ZION AND IN JERUSALEM AND BEFORE ELDERS HIS GLORY 23The moon will be confounded and the sun will be ashamed; for the LORD of Hosts will reign on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, and before His elders with great glory.
1O YAHWEH [ARE] GOD MY YOU I WILL EXALT YOU I WILL GIVE THANKS TO NAME YOUR FOR YOU HAVE DONE WONDER[S] PLANS FROM DISTANT [TIME] FAITHFULNESS FAITHFULNESS Praise to the Victorious God (Jeremiah 51:15–19) 1O LORD, You are my God! I will exalt You; I will praise Your name. For You have worked wonders— plans formed long ago— in perfect faithfulness.
2FOR YOU HAVE MADE FROM A CITY INTO <THE> HEAP A TOWN FORTIFIED INTO A RUIN A FORTRESS OF STRANGERS FROM A CITY FOR EVER NOT IT WILL BE REBUILT 2Indeed, You have made the city a heap of rubble, the fortified town a ruin. The fortress of strangers is a city no more; it will never be rebuilt.
3THERE- -FORE THEY WILL HONOR YOU A PEOPLE STRONG A TOWN OF NATIONS RUTHLESS THEY WILL FEAR YOU 3Therefore, a strong people will honor You. The cities of ruthless nations will revere You.
4FOR YOU HAVE BEEN A REFUGE FOR THE POOR [PERSON] A REFUGE FOR THE NEEDY [PERSON] WHEN <THE> IT WAS DISTRESS TO HIM A SHELTER FROM RAINSTORM A SHADE FROM HEAT FOR [THE] BREATH OF RUTHLESS [PEOPLE] [IS] LIKE A RAINSTORM OF A WALL 4For You have been a refuge for the poor, a stronghold for the needy in distress a refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat. For the breath of the ruthless is like rain against a wall,
5LIKE HEAT IN A DRY LAND [THE] UPROAR OF STRANGERS YOU WILL SUBDUE HEAT IN [THE] SHADE OF A CLOUD [THE] SONG OF RUTHLESS [PEOPLE] HE WILL QUIETEN 5like heat in a dry land. You subdue the uproar of foreigners. As the shade of a cloud cools the heat, so the song of the ruthless is silenced.
6AND HE WILL MAKE YAHWEH OF HOSTS FOR ALL THE PEOPLES ON THE MOUNTAIN <THE> THIS A FEAST OF FAT THINGS A FEAST OF OLD WINE<S> FAT THINGS FULL OF MARROW OLD WINE<S> REFINED 6On this mountain the LORD of Hosts will prepare a lavish banquet for all the peoples, a feast of aged wine, of choice meat, of finely aged wine.
7AND HE WILL SWALLOW UP ON THE MOUNTAIN <THE> THIS [THE] SURFACE OF THE COVERING WHICH COVERS OVER ALL THE PEOPLES AND THE WOVEN STUFF WHICH IS WOVEN OVER ALL THE NATIONS 7On this mountain He will swallow up the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations;
8HE WILL SWALLOW UP <THE> DEATH TO PERPETUITY AND HE WILL WIPE AWAY [THE] LORD YAHWEH TEAR[S] FROM ON EVERY FACE AND [THE] REPROACH OF PEOPLE HIS HE WILL REMOVE FROM ON ALL THE EARTH FOR YAHWEH HE HAS SPOKEN 8He will swallow up death forever.*NoteCloseOr He will swallow up death in victory; cited in 1 Corinthians 15:54 The Lord GOD will wipe away the tears from every face*NoteCloseCited in Revelation 7:17 and Revelation 21:4 and remove the disgrace of His people from the whole earth. For the LORD has spoken.
9AND SOMEONE WILL SAY IN THE DAY <THE> THAT HERE! [IS] GOD OUR THIS WE HAVE WAITED FOR HIM AND HE WILL SAVE US THIS [IS] YAHWEH WE HAVE WAITED FOR HIM LET US BE GLAD AND LET US REJOICE IN SALVATION HIS 9And in that day it will be said, “Surely this is our God; we have waited for Him, and He has saved us. This is the LORD for whom we have waited Let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation.”
10FOR IT WILL REST [THE] HAND OF YAHWEH ON THE MOUNTAIN <THE> THIS AND IT WILL BE TRAMPLED DOWN MOAB IN PLACE ITS AS IS TRAMPLED DOWN A HEAP OF STRAW IN A DUNG HILL 10For the hand of the LORD will rest on this mountain. But Moab will be trampled in his place as straw is trodden into the dung pile.
11AND IT WILL SPREAD OUT HANDS ITS IN MIDST ITS JUST AS HE SPREADS [THEM] OUT <THE> SWIMMER TO SWIM AND HE WILL BRING LOW HAUGHTINESS ITS WITH [THE] TRICKS OF HANDS ITS 11He will spread out his hands within it, as a swimmer spreads his arms to swim. His pride will be brought low, despite*NoteCloseOr along with the skill of his hands.
12AND [THE] FORTIFICATION OF [THE] REFUGE OF WALLS YOUR HE WILL LAY LOW HE WILL BRING [IT] LOW HE WILL MAKE [IT] TOUCH <TO> THE GROUND TO [THE] DUST 12The high-walled fortress will be brought down, cast to the ground, into the dust.
